Ion was basically disemboweled leaving his insides a mess but during his life saving operation, the surgeons were only concerned with stopping the bleeding, leaving his bowels to be reconstructed at a latter date if he fully made it. It has been a few days since then and with Ion in excruciating pain from his insides still being torn up, that medicine is having a hard time helping him with. There was quite a bit of swelling in Ion's intestines which was expected with all the reconstruction that went on, as they still tried to push their way out of the incision. Usually Meeka would wait a bit for some of the swelling to go back down in a patient before closing them up, but with her removing about a third of Ion's intestinal track, there was more then enough room in side his abdominal cavity to dealt with the swelling and the less of a time a patient's innards were exposed to the atmosphere outside the body was the better. Meeka grabbed back her sutures, feeling that this incision could be closed without the use of staples and not wanting Ion to another fully visible scar, suturing it closed would let his thicker fur cover this one to mostly hide it. Unlike the his other ones, his flesh wasn't torn open by a sword or she didn't have to tear open his fur herself, like she had to do when she had to give Ion a thoracotomy due to his heart suddenly stopping during the emergency surgery, where staples were the only thing that could close those wounds back up.
