Flint was unfortunately born with a rare heart condition that kept him in and out of hospitals during his life. He had to endure a ton of open heart surgeries during that time, with his first coming when he was only a few months old. Though he was terrified every time he had to go under the knife, he always put on a brave face, and warriored on, knowing he could live without the medical intervention.
This was especially true when one day, Flint was hospitalized after suffering a cardiac incident just a few months after his last open heart surgery. The doctors determined that Flint only had a few weeks to live if they didn't operate as soon as possible, with a new method surgery to rebuild his heart structures. The only problem with that was that Flint only had about a 60% survival rate for the surgery due to the severity of his condition and the damage it has caused thus far. Knowing the surgery had to be done soon, most likely the next day and faced with a terrible choice, Flint's parents left the decision up to him whether he wanted to endure the surgery, knowing full well he could die on the operating table or he could take the more guaranteed chance that he would live another few weeks to a month, where they would keep him as comfortable as possible until the end.
Flint though about it for a bit, he didn't want to die and the surgery would give him the chance to live a lot longer, as this operation, if fully successful, could add years to his life, possibly cure him enough that he could live a somewhat long life but the possibility of dying during the surgery, which was scheduled for the next afternoon did scare him a lot, where if he didn't have the surgery, he could live a short while longer and face death a bit latter on. Ultimately as he didn't want to die, Flint made the decision to have the surgery and spent as much time as possible with his parents and siblings before the procedure would start. Getting near the time of the surgery, Flint was starting to get very anxious, as the possibility of death still hung over him, as the doctors tried to help him with some stress relieving mediation.
When the time came for the surgery, Flint hugged and said good by to his family, as the outcome was uncertain and he didn't know if he would ever see them again. Holding his little stuffed fox tightly, Flint was lead into the operating room by a nice mouse surgeon, who helped him get prepped and onto the operating table. The lead surgeon, a bunny, came in a short time latter as the mouse finished settling Flint in. Breathing heavily and still clutching his stuffy tightly, Flint prepared himself as the surgeons started putting him under. The mouse placed a hand on Flint's shoulder, trying to comfort him as his eyes got heavier, as he was scared the he would never open them again. After a little bit, Flint was sound asleep and the bunny surgeon too Flint's stuffy and placed in on to of the ECG monitor, to keep it clean and out of the way.
They then quickly got to work and started the surgery, cutting opening Flint's chest and exposing his cute little heart.The surgeons took their time, carefully doing all the repairs to Flint's more fragile heart and while there were a few complications along the way, the surgery went fairly well, as they were able to fix up Flint's heart enough that it was now no longer in danger of failing any time soon. It took several hours to complete the surgery but it was deemed a success and Flint woke up not too long after it was complete. Relief resonated through Flint's body and his family as he survived the odds and was still alive and with them. During subsequent tests, it was revealed the Flint's heart was working better than it had ever did in his life, to a point where he could now have a more normal life, where he could now train with his friends in physical combat and his dream of becoming a Contract Hunter could now be realized. As a mark of his bravery and his survival instincts, his tribe don on him warrior markings in recognition of his courage and bravery as high honor in his clan. He focused on training in his archery as his skills were impressive despite not being able to conduct any activity like this due to his condition. All Flint wanted to do now was life life as best he could, being with his friends and training to achieve his greatest dream.
The surgery help to stabilize his condition to a point where he didn't have to undergo any more surgeries though he didn't know how long this would last. The surgery was experimental, where it could of cured him, giving him a long life or only add a few more years to his life before the condition would come back. Unfortunately for Flint, his condition would fall into the lather category, where after 2 years, his condition came back suddenly and this time there may be nothing that could be done.....
