Now that Driftwood's canon ending, “Driftwood Ends” is finally complete.\n\nLet me start off by giving a quick listing and descriptions of ALL the Driftwood ending attempts, so you can see how many times this story has changed.\n\nThe image posted above is from the, “Ferro Becomes Aromantic” ending. It’s from a dream sequence about alternate lives Ferro has while in a coma. It features Anther, a trans girl Fenlyn who is from the well and dead Nocturnal Comic.\n\n[b]Ferro Enters Black-Whale[/b]\n The original concept when I started is that Driftwood would end with Ferro in the spirit/mirror world (What would be simply called Hell in the final version) Where they would reunite with their dead aunt and then go onto the beach with Terne (Who was secretly another warlock guiding Ferro to Black-Whale) and enter Blackwhale to start the process of becoming a Warlock. The actual becoming a Warlock part would be covered in a game idea that eventually became Burning Branch!\n\n[b]Ferro Goes into a Coma and Coal is Mean[/b]\n Let’s quickly take a sidebar to talk about Coal. Now Coal was originally added just to explain what was happening with the Driftwood while Ferro was going on week-long drug benders. I’ve come to realize Coal was also my way of fulfilling a quieter fantasy of mine. To take someone who is like a younger version of me, and give them the help I never got. In real life I did find someone who was like a younger version of me, and well… Do any of you remember me posting about an ex threatening to kill themselves if I moved out? Yeah so this version of the ending was born from that.\n\n Ferro would enter a bad relationship with Coal after waking up from a coma. In some versions Ferro had neurological damage from their suicide attempt. They would try to break up. But Coal would trick Ferro into getting him pregnant in order to force Ferro to stay with him. It would work for some time, until Ferro can’t really take it anymore near the birth of his child (Steel, more on him in later entries). Then they would try to run away and end up doing the things from the “Ferro Enters Black-Whale” Ending.\n\n[b]Ferro Becomes Aromantic[/b]\n-Did you know I was Aromantic for a year or two during this time? I’m Polyamourous now, but I don’t consider the time being Aromantic a mistake at all. My life to that point had seemed to be a string of friendships which I cared about more than anything in the world, and yet always got ruined when someone started falling in love, myself included. Hmmm, just like a little Verling we know. Being Aromantic let me have close relationships without love ruining them, until the time I was finally ready to admit and actually deal with the fact that… I do really love people romantically.\n\nAnyways in this version Ferro has an awful relationship with Coal, and/or Terne in some versions. Then swears of romance all together and finds a group of friends to love and hang out with. This is actually the first version of the story where Ferro doesn’t become a warlock! In fact in some version they actually meet Black-Whale and go like, nah this sounds like a relationship! It’s also the only time in which Ferro doesn’t successfully have a child with Coal.\n\n[b]Ferro Goes into a Coma and Coal is Nice[/b]\n-Played with for only a little bit, Coal is still dangerously obsessive with Ferro. But with their help they are able to get over it and have a genuinely good relationship. Ferro would be tempted towards Blackwhale, but after getting Coal accidentally pregnant (With no tricks this time) Ferro decides he’d rather have a life starting a family with Coal. Kinda writing a happy ending to the experience I lived through.\n\nThis version of the story introduced an idea into my head. That Ferro and Coal were meant for each other, originally in a compatibility kinda way, but soon this would morph into the fated “star crossed lovers” kinda way that would make its way to the final version.\n\n[b]Coal is the Main Character and Ferro Dies[/b]\nSo this one I’ll talk about a lot in the coming posts, cause this one was 90% written. Eventually taking the Novel form Driftwood Ends does. A LOT of Coal’s final story makes it into Driftwood Ends. Eventually Coal accidentally ends up in Hell, where he meets the now Warlock Ferro, who much like in the final version. Talks Coal down from trying to stay with them forever, and Coal decides to go back to Ember.
