And while time and actually reading the Bible have altered my view quite a bit to the point where I even left Christianity in 2008, I don't think I ever really left Jesus... or at least the Jesus I accepted when I was a child.\n\nThe Jesus I accepted wasn't this judgmental jerk that the Baptists had me worshiping for 20+ years. No, the Jesus I had accepted, knew the real me and loved the real me, didn't try to turn me into something I never was or guilt me into attempting to be something I never could be.\n\nThe Jesus I accepted was my friend. I could joke with the Jesus I accepted. I could look at porn with him and not be ashamed. I could sit and play video games and he'd be there, not scowling at me like the killjoy my parents wanted me to believe in, but with a controller in his hand playing right alongside me.\n\nThe Jesus I had accepted knew my love of dragons and didn't condemn me for it, and the Jesus I had accepted knew that someday I would come to know the goddess Inanna as a part of my true self... and he still accepted me as I am.\n\nSo when I drew the original version of this picture back in 2015, while there was trepidation in my heart about the apparent blasphemy involved in having a Pagan Goddess making love with Jesus Christ, that trepidation didn't come from any fear I had of Jesus... rather, it came from the fear I had of the religion I had been brought up in. I didn't even color in the original... until now. I've also updated it so that Jesus's chest doesn't look like it's being crushed under the weight of Inanna's hand like it originally did, which was entirely accidental. The original picture was intended to show the love I had for a god I had accepted into my heart as a child, and at the same time to shame people who claimed to love him but didn't know him.\n\nNow, though, the aim of this picture is more pure, I think. It is to show that while I no longer call myself a Christian or go to church or pray to him or any of that, that I still love him.
