Pubs “How do you feel?” the voice of Mira sounded excited. She asked every day about how it felt to be pregnant and even Laila listened in carefully. “Heavy. The same as yesterday.” Imyasel replied and Mira started to giggle and even Laila mumbled something. In the last weeks the belly of Imyasel had become bigger. So big that she only moved around very slowly and had to rest every now and then. Charnellia, the sister of Demon, had given her a few hints on how to lay down and all other important little information. She had had one litter already and therefore was able to give Imyasel firsthand information. She had become like an older sister for the little silver-eyed wolfess. Mira and Laila were her best friends and they visited her every day and walked around with her. They were inseparable and Mira used their friendship to get a lot of tips for her hunter training and rose to be second only to Laila in the week that Imyasel had been one of their instructor. Some of the other girls suspected, that it was only because she was good friends with Imyasel, but the little wolfess knew, that Mira worked very hard to not stay far behind her best friends. “When will they be born?” asked Laila. Like Imyasel, she did not talk very much, but when she did her voice was deep and very calm. “I hope soon. Charni said it will be any day now.” Another kick of one of her pups inside her belly made her stop for a moment and moan. “It really feels as if at least one of them wants to get out fast.” She joked. Mira took the chance that Imyasel stopped and put her nose at her belly and giggled when she felt the next kick against her sensitive nose. “I can’t wait to see them. I bet they will be super cute.” She laughed and circled around herself, trying to catch her tail in a playful manner to get rid of the nervous feeling the young wolfess felt. Imyasel and Laila laughed at the funny look that the wolfess gave them with her play. “You are silly, you know that?” Imyasel teased her, but Mira only showed her tongue and then giggled. “But your brother really is cool.” Laila suddenly changed the topic. Mira stopped her play and smiled from one ear to the other. “Right?” she exclaimed. “He is so big and strong but so handsome and gentle.” Laila giggled and Imyasel had to grin as well. “Charni said that he is much different than he was in the past though.” Mira added. “She said that he was more like a wild boar back then and she thinks that he just needed to meet Imyasel to tame him.” All three girls started to laugh. A lot changed for the big wolf in the pack and Imyasel had to admit that she had a big part in this. Not only seemed the personality of Demon be much different than in the past, at least based on Charnellia, and the older female did suspect that Imyasel was the reason for this, but the little wolfess also managed to get Demon to open up a bit to others. She invited the pups her age to the den to meet him, girls and boys alike, and she even had him start to talk a bit. Before Demon was able to talk to anyone, she had trained with him for days to control his voice and speak in a softer tone. It still sounded very powerful but not as frightening as his normal voice. Taming had been the word Charnellia used. Even though it did not sound too nice, Imyasel had to admit that it fit the case. It had been a lot of work, but it was worth it. Not only could Imyasel now hear his experienced firsthand from her loved mate, but he also slowly got respected more and more by the pack. The older wolves, who knew him from before, started to lose their bias and the younger wolves, that grew up with the heroic stories of his youth, looked at him like a hero in a black coat. They admired him for his strength and bravery, he had fought off a bear together with a few other wolves just the other day, but also for his gentleness. When Imyasel took him with her to the playing pond, where all the pups were gathered during the night when their mothers were out hunting, he let the pups climb on top of him and play with his tail. Imyasel knew that he had a very soft spot for pups and was happy that he was the father of her pups. He sure would be the best father ever and even though she sometimes was a bit afraid that she was not experienced enough to have pups, it was far to late by now and having the older she-wolves with her, in his mother and sister and all other females in the pack, she gained a bit more confidence to manage it. They all had been very supportive and nice to her. The other girls her age or a bit older, that she met at the hunter training, had come around as well. Even Sue was on friendly terms with her now, after she had swallowed her pride that the smaller wolfess was better in hunting than her and was one of the teachers. But the advice she gave them helped all of them to improve. Especially when Imyasel told them about her experiences, how she learned hunting and the first prey she killed. A very high in demand story was as well her first time with Demon. Even though Imyasel was a bit embarrassed to talk about this intimate experience, she had to tell it about once a week to the other young girls, who rolled on the ground giggling each time she described how it felt and how it happened. They were growing girls after all, who all dreamed of going the path one day, that she was going already. The boys around her age were a bit different. They did not have training together, Mira said, that boys were just too clumsy and would slow them down during training, but Charnellia explained Imyasel that it had always been custom to teach boys and girls apart from each other because there were different foci in their education. While girls learned more about hunting, what it meant to be a female, helping the pride by watching over the pups or keeping the dens clean, the boys learned all about fighting and protecting the pack. They seemed to also learn hunting, because Imyasel saw males and females leave together for the hunts, but all the other tasks seemed to be different from the female pups. When they met Imyasel, they often acted a bit awkward or flustered around her. Mira suggested that they were in love with her and did not know how to approach her, but Laila suggested, that they just did not know how to approach Imyasel because of Demon, her mate. The opinion of Charnellia was, that it was a bit of both. She told Imyasel that boys had always been a bit fidgety around girls, even in her days as a pup. “Boys are just weird.” She commented it, but when Imyasel pouted and said “But not my Demon!” she had laughed and said: “Well, my brother might be the weirdest.” And both females giggled right afterwards. The days went by and when, after the training, the girls played with the boys, often playing predator and prey, which was a good opportunity to train hunting, Imyasel sat out on the side and watched them. The game worked this way, that one team was the predators, and one was the prey. The predator team had to group up and catch the prey. And the prey had to try and escape to a save spot, where Imyasel was waiting, before getting caught. At first, Imyasel had just been an observer, but one day Mira had complaint that she had been caught so fast, that Imyasel gave her some advises, and the girl managed to escape in the next round. After that, they had bugged her to join them in the play as a commander. She would not direct participate, but she could give them commands or advise during the game. Soon she was the one member every team wanted to have, especially after the boys got note of her being one of the girls’ teachers. To make it fair, they later decided, that Imyasel would give both teams hints and instructions and she became a center figure in the kids plays and was as popular amongst them as her mate. Then the day of her giving birth came. She felt the first contractions in the evening and when she told Demon, he ran to his sister in panic, who sent him away and stayed with the little wolfess. She went into labor when the moon was out full and bright, visible clearly through the entrance of the den. It took a long while before the first head and then the body of one of her pups pushed out of her narrow opening. Charnellia talked to her and calmed her down and was there for her. While Imyasel licked the first pup clean, a girl, the second was born and shortly after the third. Only the last one was a boy. Only when all three pups were out and snuggled against the warm belly of Imyasel after a short sip of milk, Charnellia approached her and licked over the sticky fur of Imyasel to help her clean up. The older female also sniffed at the little pups, that still had their eyes closed, and nudged them carefully. “They are cute.” She mentioned and looked at the exhausted young female laying in front of her. Imyasel could only nod tiredly and put her head on her front legs, ogling her newborn pups with a lot of love and affection in her gaze. The male pup was black and gray, just like Imyasel, but without the white fur at the belly. One of the females was pitch black, like her father, and the other one was very light with silver fur at its back and white fur at her underside just like her mother. Imyasel watched her kids sleep at her belly with awe, not reacting to anything Charnellia said. She felt so proud and mesmerized that she could not take her eyes from the little ones for one moment or care for anything else but them. Only when Demon came into the cave, called in by his sister, she first turned her attention to the big black wolf, who now sniffed at the pups and licked over their head once carefully. “They are gorgeous, just like you.” He whispered and it echoed in the cave. Imyasel smiled bright and happy up to him. Outside Imyasel could hear the protest of Mira, who seemed to try to get into the cave as well to see the pups but was stopped by Charnellia. Imyasel was thankful for that. Even though she liked Mira and would love to show her the pups, she was too tired right now and wanted none other than Demon to be with her in this moment. The bigger wolf circled around and lay down behind her, pushing his warm belly against her back. She wondered if she looked just as much as a pup compared to him than her own pups looked to her, and she had to giggle low. “What do you want to name them?” Demon asked and Imyasel flicked her ears. “We can decide this tomorrow.” She decided, too tired to wrap her head around names at this moment. All she cared for was, that they were healthy, and that Demon was by her side. They slept throughout the full day. Imyasel only woke up a few times, when the pups moved around to find her teats and started to drink. They did not care about it being daylight outsight. They could not see it with their eyes closed. They just wanted to drink the rich milk of their mother, no matter if she was exhausted and was disturbed in her sleep. Even though she was tired and groaned a bit when they woke her up the third time, she waited patiently for them to drink and licked the head of the black female, that found the first teat of Imyasel, that was closest to her head. Demon slept through the full day and the young mother did her best to not wake him up. When the night finally crept in with the sun setting red outside the den, Imyasel still felt very tired and yawned when the bigger wolf also started to move. The night was just as exhausting as the day had been. Charnellia, Mira and Laila came to visit and even though Imyasel was happy to meet them, she also felt that talking with them exhausted her in addition, because it prevented her to fall asleep in the breaks between the drinking of the pups. She did not complaint or signal them in any way that it was too much for her, but at some point they seemed to notice that she yawned a lot and bid their goodbye for the night, when Demon came back from his guarding duty. When the big wolf rolled around her and warmed her, Imyasel could finally fall asleep for a bit and her mate guarded her sleep between the times she had to feed her babies for the rest of the night and the day. Slowly Imyasel got used to the intervals of the hunger of the little ones. The days and night passed by and other than Mira, Laila and Charnellia, none of the other wolves bothered her. Demon was nearly all the time with her and supported her. He brought her food and stayed with the pups when she went out to drink or when the nature called her. She spent most of her time inside the den with her kids, watching them slowly grow bigger. At first, she had been concerned because the eyes stayed closed, but Charnellia had explained her that they would stay this way for a short while and then slowly open the eyes. The matter of the names of the two girls and the boy were pushed from one night to the other, until one night, Imyasel thought she had found the perfect names for her babies. “What do you think about Noir for this little gal?” she asked and nudged the pitch-black girl, that slept soundly under her front leg. “It fits her perfect.” Agreed Demon with a voice that did nearly not echo in the den anymore. Since the pups had been born, he had managed to soften his voice even more, so that it nearly sounded like a whisper. But his voice still was very penetrative and louder than Imyasels. The pups were used to it so much though, that they did not even wake up from his loud voice. “And for the other gal I thought Loony would be good. Because her fur looks like the moon.” Demon chuckled but did not complain. “How about you name our son? Can you think of any good name?” Imyasel asked and Demon pondered for a while before he answered. “How about Kyle?” Now it was Imyasels turn to giggle. Not because the name was funny or she disagreed with it, but because it tickled her inside to look at her pups and that they were finally giving them names. “I love it.” She replied, but in reality, she was more relieved that they had finally named the pups. For her the names did not matter too much. She was thankful that they all were still healthy and grew bigger each day. And just like that, their pups were names Noir, Loony and Kyle. Not only her best friends and her new big sister, Charnellia, approved of the names, but even Demon’s mother, who came to visit one day, just at the time the pups started to open their eyes. It seemed for Imyasel after that as if the pups grew bigger and stronger each day. Starting to stumble over each other when trying to climb on top of her, or even their father, and not listening to anything she said. Charnellia explained to her, that for a bit while longer, the pups could still not hear, and that their vision was still blurry. Imyasel could see, that their eyes still looked a bit dazed and the pups still had trouble to navigate with them, but it got better with every day and finally, 4 weeks after she gave birth to them, she noticed that their eyes looked much clearer and that they finally listened to her voice and their ears turned back and forth whenever she called out to them. It was time for them to leave the den together with their parents for the first time and the young mother and father brought them down to the gathering place, where they had a lot of other pups, all a bit older than them, to play with. Imyasel was happy to see the pups play wildly with each other and with the other pups, even though they came back to her quite often to either get a drink or to just get a nudge of her nose to make sure their mother was still there. Loony moved the slowest of them and sometimes looked like she was daydreaming. She was the only one that inherited the silver eyes of Imyasel, which fit the white and gray fur, that looked like silver itself, perfectly. Noir had deep green eyes, like the leaves on the old trees around the gathering place. Before her eyes had opened, Imyasel thought that she was the split image of herself, but unlike her sister, she did have her mothers looks, but not her eyes. Kyle got the looks from his mother, but the eyes of his father. Just like Demon, he had sparkling red eyes and Imyasel wondered if he, or any of the others, would become as big as Demon as well someday. In the months after, Imyasel found her place in the pack. Thanks to the combat training she received from Demon, she managed to get herself a spot in the alpha ranks, even though still not on the very top. Where she could not compete with the strength of the bigger wolves, she filled in with her high agility, nimbleness, and swiftness, not only in the ranking fights, but also at the hunt. She had become one of the main huntresses and leader of a group, that hosted a few experienced females and some young females and males, including Mira and Laila.
