Other markings include spots along the cheeks or shoulders.\n\nThe Martian's large ears give them an accuracy and range much farther than a human's hearing, and can hear pitches much higher.\n\nMartian eyesight is considered poorer than human's, not able to see as far and having less effective night vision. Their spectrum range, however, lets them see well into the ultraviolet.\n\nMartian sense of smell is very poor.\n\nTheir antennae detect electromagnetic fields. They evolved to help the martians hunt creatures living in the mud and as a method of more subtle communication. Myths of them being able to read minds are greatly exaggerated, but a trained Martian can sense heightened brain activity related to extreme moods.\n\nTo rub one's antennae against another's is considered a kiss in Martian culture, as this allows two martians to get an intimate feel for the activity of each other's minds.
