I suppose I tried a little too hard insofar as drawing the leaf symmetrically (I used a compass to draw this thing ...this was like only the third or fourth time I've ever used a compass to draw)! XD
Consequently, the leaf looked a little too polished, at least insofar as its outline (I admit I'm a little green where drawing veins are concerned).

I thought the leaves in the background (which were just scribbled in as an afterthought) looked better than the full one, so I thought to draw a new tree star a bit more loosely (like the ones in the former's background).

I drew a fairly descent star-shaped undersketch, then drew curves connecting its points together (the end result kinda looks like a pentagon), then draw the cut-outs (to form the spear-tips).
I shaped the aforementioned a bit, and I had a better tree star: asymmetrical (sure) but not in a bad way. :3

So, this second drawing looks very raw and real to me (at least more so than the first), as a proper leaf should (at least that's what I'm going to tell myself so I won't feel the need to redraw this later). ^^
