"description": "I grew up with 'The Simpsons', and I've grown out and away from them. I'm unsure when the last time was I saw an episode on TV---it was likely just after the beginning of the 2000's (and I recall nothing about it).\n\nAs for the movie, I saw it after buying a DVD copy at a local thrift shop ...I didn't care much for it. :P\n\nBlinky the Three-eyed Fish is from the era in which I enjoyed 'The Simpsons'.\n\nBlinky was also the ideal subject for which to feature this 'uranium pencil' ...not only because it's radioactive, but because it's pink (like Homer's ruined shirt). ^^\n\nNow, I neither drew nor delineated this drawing with the uranium pencil. Reason is this pencil is too valuable to sharpen (and I just sold it on eBay, so...) ^^\n\nAnyway, the uranium pencil has a story attached,\n\n\"In 1957, the Kingston Pencil Company received a license from the Atomic Energy Commission that authorized them to possess up to 24 tons of uranium ore. Nevertheless, it seems that their one and only purchase was for 2,400 pounds of ore from the Daybuck Company of Spokane Washington . The ore was ground up in a rock crusher that belonged to a farmer in Rossville Georgia, and a green dye was then added to the ore to give it a “romantic” appearance. \nEach pencil contained 1.5 to 2.5 grams of 1.7 % ore (ca. 0.02 uCi). A memorandum from the Atomic Energy Commission in 1960 estimated that if the entire sample were ingested, the incorporated uranium would only amount to 1/25,000 of the permissible body burden.
