"description": "I like the 'Franklin' animated series. That said, I *don't care at all for 'Franklin and Friends', but the original series that ran on NickJr was very important to me. :3\n\n*I did, however, enjoy the 'Arctic Explorer' special\n\nHow was 'Franklin' important to me?\n\nConcisely, I liked the designs of the characters. The cast was much less cartoony than I was used to, and in my mind, that meant I should try drawing them, as I had aspirations of illustrating a book with an animal cast, and needed characters that could be taken both informal/humorously and seriously (respectively; as-needed). The semi-realistic style of the Franklin characters (again) seemed ideal for this.\n\nAs I didn't have a computer at the time, I bought up all the different Franklin books I could find to use as references, using Christopher Hart's cartooning guides for studies in technique (very different styles these were). :3\n\n...So, I got a lot of practice drawing 'Franklin-style' characters, only to completely abandon the style once I decided to begin making art for uploading to the internet (that is, I made a DA account and began art trading---most of my subjects were of the cartoony variety). ^^\n\n...And no, I never illustrated my story, neither did I finish writing it (I still have it, though) :P\n\nBut during all that drawing of 'Franklin' characters, I never actually tried drawing Franklin himself ...so this ACO makes up for that. ^^\n\nDo I still like the 'Franklin' cartoon?\n\n...Yes? I mean, it doesn't 'engage' me ...and to be fair, it didn't when I discovered it around age 20. ^^ But, for a brief while, I watched 'Franklin' religiously, focusing my attention on the characters' mouthes, hands, etc., hoping the style would burn itself into my mind (it seems to've worked---to this day, I still draw short, pointy fingers, among other things I could attribute to my 'Franklin' experience). ^^\n\nI like (making fun of) the movies---I've seen/listened-to 'Franklin and the Green Knight' over 40 times (since 'Tiny Heroes' was removed from YT), and I kinda like 'Franklin and the Turtle Lake Treasure' ...I say 'kinda' as I like what the film could have been, esp. given it's anime-like animation (yeah, if you ever wanted to know what a Canadian preschool cartoon would look like as an anime, FatTLT offers an idea) ...but I digress. FatTLT gives up on its plot about halfway through (granted, it needed a new plot anyway---Granny falling ill was very unnecessary). :P\nAlso, FatTLT has an odd Land Before Time reference in it, in the form of Little Crow (whom I despise). Strange.\n\nAnyway, I find I have strong opinions on the 'Franklin' characters. Bear is spoiled (his personality is 'hungry/fat'), and Snail annoys me to no end ...that said, Snail is at least better than Harriet ...but that isn't saying much. :P\n\n...*realizes he's rambling*\n\nAhem. Forgive me ...it seems I still care about 'Franklin' much more than I should. ^^\n\nAs for the featured pencil, I chose to delineate this ACO via the Tombow 8900. The 8900 is a writing pencil, but it draws fine. It's very soft---I had to sharpen it during this small sketch. The drag is smooth and the line is fairly consistent. I like it, but if I still used pencils for writing, I'd stick to the Dixon Ticonderoga. :3\n\nAnyway, I should point out the Tombow 8900 is green, to which I'm sure Franklin would say, \"Like me!\"\n\nIndeed, Franklin. Indeed. :3",
