Today, I have decided to use this old 'Castell Magicus 9120'. And I'm lovin' it like McDonald's!\nIt's smooth, ever so--it's like drawing with a stick of butter on a hot surface! :D\n\n...yet, um, it's not ideal for drawing. D:\n\nThe Magicus could be described as a china marker in pencil form---the graphite has some kind of dye compound in it, which means you're not erasing its lines ...at all! XD\n\nAh, but that wouldn't stop me from playing with the Magicus. I used the Magicus for the scribbles (which weren't worth cleaning up---practice sketches, they).\n\nFor the main ACO, the pencil I used was...\n\n*drum roll*\n\n...NOT my Eberhard-Faber Blackwing 602 (but I'm still looking for it)!\n\n...and not this pencil with real *uranium in it (I'm not in the market for cancer---my family's all about heart disease)! ...:P\n\n*People's Industrial Loan Corporation (circa 1960)\n\nAnyway, a friend had suggested I use a metal mechanical pencil ...and I have one!\nThis one came in a set with a pen, described as 'Gary Matte' from Pierre Cardin.\nNow, that sounds fancy, but Cardin hasn't been relevant in the fashion industry for decades. :P\n\nMy set is from the 1990's, insofar as I can tell. I've not used it hitherto; it's heavy in the hand, but the nib glides easily and the line is dark. Most importantly, the lines erase with ease! :D\n\nThat said, I'll still be glad when my replacement KuruToga arrives (I be loyal like that)! XD\n\nAnyway... who's our ACO subject today?\n\nWell, some of you may've recognized this character from a late 1990's commercial for Mouse Trap.\n\nMouse Trap was a board game that had its players add build a convoluted (but cruelty-free!) 'mouse trap', as the players moved mouse tokens around the track.\nThe mouse trap resembled a Rube Goldberg type contraption, its various components providing, upon its completion, its builders with an amusing visual demonstration of cause-and-effect.\nOf course, the goal was to prevent one's mouse token from being trapped, while corralling other players into the trap space. :3\n\nMouse Trap has changed over time, as have the cartoon mice that have been used in its advertising. The ones I've drawn here are from (around) 1998.\n\nSee the mice in action here (link tested 04/02/2020): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhQlfs81VlY\n\nDemonstration of mechanism (language warning; link tested 04/02/2020): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZCplp_AtRo\n\nNow, did I ever play Mouse Trap? No. ^^\n\nThe only board games I had growing up were Chinese Checkers, It's Only Money, and some sort of multi-game bundle. ^^\nAs an adult, I have a few board games in the closet, just to have on hand: Monopoly, Battleship, and Littlest Pet Shop (among a few others). ^^\n\nThe last board game I played was Monopoly ...and that was in 1997 (I know the year because of where I was at the time). ^^\n\nAnyway, Mouse Trap! :D ","description_bbcode_parsed":"<span style='word-wrap: break-word;'>All right, so I&#039;m still playing around with pencils. :3<br /><br />Last time, I drew with a 70-year-old #3 pencil.
