\"...First, I need to scribble something to go with the Q&A no one will read\"\n\nFRIEND: \"Like what?\"\n\nMARTEN: \"I dunno. Probably Gene, standing\"\n\nFRIEND: \"But on his hands, but on his hands\"\n\nMARTEN: \"...Done!\"\n\nAnyway...\n\nJust another article below, of me, rambling about stuff in a Q&A format...\n\nQ. Are you a furry or a furry fan?\n\nA. That which defines one or the other falls into subjectivity, albeit I count myself as a furry, in that I have a fursona (Marten) as well as other OCs I identify with, by degrees (Gene; Timmy).\n\nTL;DR: =^..^=\n\nQ. What do you like about Furry?\n\nA. The sonas; animals and other like are less challenging to talk to and through. For example, a child may find it easier to tell their feelings to a teddy bear or puppet than to an adult, or a storyteller may find it more kosher to express a controversial or difficult subject through animal characters.\n\nTL;DR: Talking animals are cool.\n\nQ. Would you wear a fursuit?\n\nA. No. A convention's the only acceptable scenario for wearing one, and I'm not gregarious or enthusiastic enough for those ...albeit, I incidentally 'dress' as Timmy whenever I shower. ^^;\n\nTL;DR: No.\n\nQ. Who do you make art for: yourself or your watchers?\n\nA. That's a good question (I'm glad I asked it)! Frankly, I wouldn't have drawn the exceptional majority of my entries if there was no internet to upload them to.\n\nFact is, I can sometimes feel bad (or even guilty) if I go longer than a few days without something to show to my watchers (quality notwithstanding).\n\nThe (main) content of my gallery is largely dictated by what made it appealing (to those who would be watchers) to begin with, ie., vintage television characters.\n\nFor example, I doubt I'd randomly draw (say) Dr. Snuggles for myself, but I would (and will!) absolutely for my gallery (which, again, is intended to be shared).\n\nThe last (major) thing I can recall sketching purely for myself was my 'Naked at the Lake' piece, way back in the summer of 2014.\nMore recently, my Lego tower is something I'm making for myself, albeit, I'm yet building it with the idea of making it 'interesting' for my gallery.\n\nTL;DR: I make art mostly for my watchers. ^^\n\nQ. Do you like your art?\n\nA. Do I like my art... Yes and no. I mean, I've chosen to use my 'alive time' on earth to commit graphite to paper, so... Yes?\nTrouble is, as far as human beings go, I'm not a healthy specimen: I have chronic, chemical depression as well as other psychological unpleasantries to deal with. My art suffers, consequently, as does my general enthusiasm and enjoyment of my time in the sun.\n\nI'm also an observant realist (as well brutally honest with myself)---it doesn't matter how little effort I put into a scribble as it will be faved, regardless.\nAgain, with depression on my side, I can (and do) use that fact as an 'excuse' to not put in effort if I don't want to---I can neither impress or unimpress my watcherbase as a whole ...so I don't 'try' to do either---I 'just draw'.\n\nTL;DR: I guess so.\n\nQ. What is ACEO and why do yours say 'One Cent'?\n\nA. ACEO = Art Card; Edition: Original. They're drawings/paintings that are used as trading cards (I keep mine in an album meant for Pokemon cards).\n\n'One Cent' is my brand (so to speak). The name derives from my attempt to determine the eBay value of my art, per the insistence of my S/O.\n\nTL;DR: Art cards made/branded by me.\n\nQ. Does your art, otherwise, have categories?\n\nA. Yes. there's ACEO, then I have quickies, sketch dumps/dumplings and reviews.\n\nMy ACEOs are trading cards (as described above) that typically depict characters in media (often of the vintage and/or obscure sort).\n\nQuickies are generally things I draw when I simply want to upload something, or I'll have an idea I just want to draw without fuss or much expectation. These are often used as gifts, replies, or as illustrations for articles/updates.\n\nSketch dumplings are hastily-drawn scribbles of multiple, media characters on a single sheet of paper. I use these to assist in purging my 'to-draw' list. Sometimes I'll offer or apportion leftover space for unofficial requests/ideas users have shown interest in.\n\nLast, my review stuff is almost always illustrated via an ACEO card, with the distinction being the description (ie, the review) below it.\nI'm not a critic or someone with any real interest in reviewing cartoons, etc---it's just something I take by spells. :3\n\nTL;DR; Mhm.\n\nQ. Do you consider your gallery 'family friendly'?\n\nA. I don't like that term as it implies all families have near-identical tolerances (news flash: they don't!).\n\nThe general content and flavor of my gallery is determined by what I think is best per the expectations of my watchers.\nThat is, I'm not 'known' for drawing 'adult themes', so even if much of my watcherbase comprises adults who enjoy such things (and it does, truth be told), they (as a whole) don't expect or (more honesty) want to see it 'from me'.\nSame applies when considering the 'underage' portion of my watcherbase that expects I'll continue to make 'fan art' of the characters they're interested in---they don't want anything else (again, 'from me').\n\nTL;DR: Probably yes, incidentally. ^^;\n\nQ. Why do you draw nudity?\n\nA. I've written articles (plural) about that. Short answer is I like the concept of social nudity, and art is my means of (vicariously) experiencing it.\n\nTL;DR: I like skinny dipping ^^\n\nQ. How can you be so 'successful' when you don't watch anyone or fave art?\n\nA. I'm successful? ...Uh, anyway, the simple truth is I've been around a while ...and I tag my art, since it can actually be searched-for and discovered that way. Adding to that, much of my gallery is of television characters who aren't frequently represented in 'fan art', hence even my older stuff can appear fairly 'high' on 'results' pages.\n\nTL;DR: I use tags.\n\nQ. In light of the above, why don't you give faves or watches?\n\nA. As regards faves: if I like something, I save it.\n\nAs regards watches: ...all right, this may read condescending, but it's fact: if an artist has something I want to see, I'll find it (either by searching or via recommendation).\n\nAs for the art my watchers make, I tend to see it when I view their profiles (the more actively a watcher responds to me, the more often I see their art, hence I remain 'up to date').\n\nTL;DR: I do, but in my silent way.\n\nQ. Why don't you take requests?\n\nA. Requests, by definition are free, and most of us like free things ...but only so much (in fact, much less than we'd like to admit).\n\nAn example would be a shopper at (say) an organic grocery store. While shopping, they notice an overpriced wedge of cheese with a bowl of free samples next to it (just tiny cubes with toothpicks in).\nThe shopper doesn't really care for cheese, but it's there for nothing (and it's a few hours before dinner)---may as well have a piece or two ...or three *no one's looking* ...four!\n\nAnd they don't buy the cheese. :P\n\nIt's the same with art: the requester may (or may not) care for your art, or even have any ideas for a drawing, but if it's being given away, they'll take it, even if they don't truly want it. \n\nAlso, one request tends to lead to another, by the same users for the same subjects ...which are often of things I don't care for.\n\nTL;DR: Experience.\n\nQ. Why don't you take trades or commissions?\n\nA. Years ago, when I was into doing art trades, I happened on an artist who was accepting trades but wasn't interested in trading with me.\nOrdinarily, I'd have left it at that, but the artist took it upon themselves to explain why: they were a skilled artist; I sucked at art. :3\n\nI made the mistake of replying to that.\n\nI offered to place all my energy and effort into any art they wanted, if, in return, they'd make an ink stain on a napkin (something like that).\nThey replied if I wanted art, I could buy a scribble for $30 (or so).\n\nI understand artists need to eat (though there's something to be said for manners), and I shouldn't have regarded their refusal as a challenge.\nEither way, I allowed that person to affect my long-term perspective on trading (and commissions, by extension).\n\nTL;DR: My art is for my watchers as a whole---not just for those with refined skills and/or disposable income.\n\nQ. Who do you think is reading this?\n\nA. Someone who isn't intimidated by a wall of text; someone intelligent who delights in absorbing furry/art-related information on/about persons they can respond to/with/at.\n\nTL;DR: This far in, probably Z and/or Miss Icecream ^^;\n\nQ. What are your plans for your art/gallery?\n\nA. Nothing specific, other than to continue doing what I do. Usually, when I plan to begin a new series or thing, I introduce it with a teaser, as I did with Minichu and my Lego MOC. If there's interest on the end of my watchership, I'll continue until I stop caring.\n\nSome of the ideas I've had for new things don't have mutual acceptance from the AUPs of the respective sites I upload to.\nFor example, IB doesn't allow (most) photography, at least not of random flowers and sights I find while wayfaring.\nFA isn't cub-friendly to the extent I'd like it to be---I'm never absolutely sure how (say) my Timmy art or nudes of Gene will be tolerated there.\nLast, DA allows for everything that isn't outright pornographic or illegal, yet (incongruously) has more underage subscribers than IB/FA.\nHow DA affects me in that regard (since my art is generally 'clean' anyway), is 'underage' often accompanies '*immature' ...and I despise drama with a passion!\n\n*in fairness, dramamongers also come in adult form ...and these are they who seek drama FROM the underaged, who (often) pass it along (there have been attempts at roping me into such things---every instance, so far, from DA).\n\nIn summary:\n\nIB doesn't want photos of flowers, insects, Lego etc.\n\nFA merely tolerates everything of mine that isn't a sketch dump or ACEO.\n\nDA represents a 'can-but-shouldn't'.\n\nTL;DR: Nothing significant, really.\n\nQ. Do you have autism?\n\nA. Yes.\n\nThis was a real question ...Kinda. I had mentioned my autism to a long-time watcher who was likewise autistic. Said watcher was surprised to learn this about me (so I suppose it's worth mentioning here).\n\nAnyway, yes, I have autism, specifically Asperger's Syndrome.\n\nI think FAR too much---existential depression encroaches on most every aspect of my life (I'm slowly developing a FEAR of religion).\n\nTL;DR: Yuppers! ...Wait, that's longer than the initial answer of 'Yes' ...I'm thinking again! D:\n\nQ. Anything else?\n\nA. Hm.. No, not really. Tomorrow (09/30/19) I'm going to the library and to Target---might scribble something beforehand or after. I've been eyeballing some characters I think would be fun to draw, I just haven't wanted to direct my energies in their direction (but that'll soon change!).\nI also need to put some consideration into what to review for Christmas---I've been putting it off for too long! D:\n\n...Laters! :3","description_bbcode_parsed":"MARTEN: "...First, I need to scribble something to go with the Q&A no one will read"

FRIEND: "Like what?"

MARTEN: "I dunno. If there's interest on the end of my watchership, I'll continue until I stop caring.

Some of the ideas I've had for new things don't have mutual acceptance from the AUPs of the respective sites I upload to.
For example, IB doesn't allow (most) photography, at least not of random flowers and sights I find while wayfaring.
FA isn't cub-friendly to the extent I'd like it to be---I'm never absolutely sure how (say) my Timmy art or nudes of Gene will be tolerated there.
Last, DA allows for everything that isn't outright pornographic or illegal, yet (incongruously) has more underage subscribers than IB/FA.
How DA affects me in that regard (since my art is generally 'clean' anyway), is 'underage' often accompanies '*immature' ...and I despise drama with a passion!

*in fairness, dramamongers also come in adult form ...and these are they who seek drama FROM the underaged, who (often) pass it along (there have been attempts at roping me into such things---every instance, so far, from DA).

In summary:

IB doesn't want photos of flowers, insects, Lego etc.

FA merely tolerates everything of mine that isn't a sketch dump or ACEO.

DA represents a 'can-but-shouldn't'.

TL;DR: Nothing significant, really.

Q. Do you have autism?

A. Yes.

This was a real question ...Kinda. I had mentioned my autism to a long-time watcher who was likewise autistic. Said watcher was surprised to learn this about me (so I suppose it's worth mentioning here).

Anyway, yes, I have autism, specifically Asperger's Syndrome.

I think FAR too much---existential depression encroaches on most every aspect of my life (I'm slowly developing a FEAR of religion).

TL;DR: Yuppers! ...Wait, that's longer than the initial answer of 'Yes' ...I'm thinking again! D:

Q. Anything else?

A. Hm.. No, not really. Tomorrow (09/30/19) I'm going to the library and to Target---might scribble something beforehand or after. I've been eyeballing some characters I think would be fun to draw, I just haven't wanted to direct my energies in their direction (but that'll soon change!).
I also need to put some consideration into what to review for Christmas---I've been putting it off for too long!
