Or maybe I should better practice more on anatomy of creatures that I'm drawing? Or maybe something else? :)\nPlease don't shy to criticize me, I'm really curious to know your opinion because you are drawing cartoon creatures really good, cute and nice, so you're quite advanced in drawing them, unlike me\"\n\n...-_-\n\nMARTEN: \"I'll draw you a criticism... Please don't say such not nice things about your drawings because they are simply amazing\"\n\nThis is like when you're a kid and your mom loves everything you draw. So, one day, you INTENTIONALLY make a bad drawing and it receives the same approval... you learn from this that people are either insincere or are blinded with bias.\n\nAnyway, here's an OBJECTIVE, VISUAL 'critique' of Gilbert's work, since they asked for it ...as well a critique of my own art.\n\nTop left: Marlene, as she appears on the show.\n\nTop right: One of Gilbert's many interpretations.\n\nFriend Gilbert, your art already surpasses its source material ...which I'll say isn't hard, but let's not digress. ^^\n\nGilbert, your 'Marlene' appears roughly as she would in a children's storybook---the kind the publisher would horse-whip the illustrator to keep everything as 'on-model' as possible given the change in medium.\nThe drawing (by means of color and texture) shows the shape of the character---I can tell where her belly ends and her brisket begins without the need of hard lines.\nI can't really offer anything in the way of criticism (again) considering the subject (who isn't anatomically correct to start with)---so if the goal was to be as faithful as possible to the original: mission accomplished!\n\n...If, however, a gun were pointed at my head, I could suggest using a darker brown for Marlene's pelage (Gilbert's try is a bit too bright).\n\nNext is my junk...\n\nOn the left is Marlene in my 'quickie' style. For quickies, I don't extend much concern for 'being correct' in any regard (and it shows!)---I usually can't even be bothered to erase all my guidelines/remove smudges.\nThis is roughly how I'd draw Marlene in a sketch dump or in a 'Timmy' drawing---quick, simple, done in a minute!\n\nAdjacent is Marlene drawn in my 'ACEO' style. Here, I care a little more about clean-up and other details (mostly faces/hands).\nPast this, not much concern is given (I cared more when my S/O was living, but there really isn't THAT much difference between quickies and ACEO).\n\nWhy show my art here?\n\n...So Gilbert can see it next to both the original and their own art.\n\n\"One of these things is not like the other!\" (c'mon, sing with me!)\n\n...Yeah. Point made: Gilbert can draw/color; I can't do either; I don't want to give or receive critiques.\n\nGILBERT (before I uploaded this): \"Oh Marten? .....One idea came to me right now... Umm... What if we would do a collab with you, based on that sketch of Marlene that you drew for me?\nI could try to shade your sketch of Marlene and maybe to color it digitally...
