I began writing the story around *2007. At the time, **Gene had a much larger role in the tale, and was also older: (16, if memory serves).\nOver time, the story was rewritten, necessitating Gene to be recast, i.e., Gene was aged down and written to fill a different role than intended.\n\nFor his new role, I needed Gene (and his friend ***Tasli) to be young enough to be somewhat 'innocent', yet big/athletic enough to fulfill their respective roles. Moreover, 'eight' was the oldest I could comfortably make these characters given the story's timeline.\n\n'Eight' was perfect. :3\n\n*yeah, I've been at this a while ...in fact, Gene's real-world age is older than his age in the story ...a fact that embarrasses me to no end, but am also somewhat amused by (may as well have a sense of humor about it).\n\n**Gene's original name was Vygarti.\n\n***Yes, I named one of my characters after a bunny from 'Tiny Heroes' ...and I am totally unashamed!\n\nWhat about Timmy?\n\nTo answer that, I must return us to Gene. As I redeveloped Gene's character, I began to 'relate' to him, to the point that Gene began to bear my psychological likeness (i.e., he's my self-insertion into the story ...that's usually a bad thing for an author to have, but it works for Gene).\n\nIn short, Gene became an OC, but as he was *inseparable from Maia's Tears, I couldn't do much with the character independent of the story.\n\n*I've since made two versions of Gene: the MT character, and the toonier incarnation to play with.\n\nTimmy was created in 2014. I've gone into Timmy's history a hundred times by now, so I'll spare it here. Suffice it to say, I wanted Timmy to serve as avatar to represent (my) childhood/innocence ...and as I already had a 'cub' character I identified with (Gene), Timmy simply inherited the age.\n\n'Eight' works well for Timmy, for reasons similar to those of Gene: young enough for innocence; old enough for adventure. Additionally, 'eight' has the benefit of being old enough for platonic attraction among similarly-aged characters ...which sounds creepier than it is! :P\n\nGenerally, for my FA/IB 'Timmy' uploads, I tend to focus on 'puppy love' and physical attraction on the part of the secondary characters. This stems from the negative sub-consciousness I had about my body during most of my childhood and is NOT a consequence of a fetish for 'underaged characters' ...albeit, I am very cognizant of the appeal my art has for cub-furs/artists (I'm fine with this). :3\n\nAnyway...
