Now it is! :9\n\nAll righty, so for our final sketch dumpling, we have:\n\n1. Bolt. Starting the new year with a character I like aesthetically, but whose movie ...would be fine if I could suspend my disbelief enough to accept Bolt REALLY thought he had powers. Movies are scripted, *life isn't!\nI mean, at some point, Bolt would have broken script ...in some bold plan to save the day... or he might think he should practice his skills... or a scene would have to be reshot... any of these things (and more) would prove to Bolt his powers are pretend (sure, Bolt's a dog in a cartoon, but he's only so dumb). D:\n\n2. Soccer Cat. All right, this is a nameless incidental character from Animaniacs. Specifically, he's from Skippy Squirrel's soccer episode (as a member of the opposing team, of course).\nMost may remember this episode as the one in which Skippy was repeatedly bonked on the head by the soccer ball. Skippy's subsequent dazed responses often included the name 'George'. This is a reference to 'Of Fox and Hounds': a parody of 'Of Mice and Men' (thx to ComedyKos of YT for that bit of trivia)!\n\n3. Pixie and Dixie (diddly-dum!). A fun cat-and-mouse series (the cat is Mr. Jinks). I'd describe it as a plot-based Tom and Jerry---the expected cat-mouse relationship is here, but relies less on slapstick, more on situational comedy. Because of this, Pixie, Dixie and Mr. Jinks talk ...and I found something interesting (if not opinionated) about the voice acting,\n\n\"*This cartoon series was dubbed to Spanish using three different nationalities for three completely different accents. The result was funny and lively (two of the accents used are considered some of the funniest in the hispanic world), and it was a huge success\".\n-DiniFroggy (YT)\n\nI wondered which accents the YTer was referring to, so I decided to ask a Spanish-speaking friend for their insight,\n\n\"*I have to base my opinion on the way they talk, because when they dub it they don't use expressions from other places (it's kinda, like, neutral).\nI think [Pixie]: it's Mexican, and [Jinks] might be Cuban or Dominican.\nAnd I, too, think it was really fun.\nThese days, the dubs are even more neutral and it's kinda like a soulless Spanish. This way it's more like how the Spanish is actually [spoken] in latin America\"\n-Kranch (IB): https://inkbunny.net/kranch\n\n*edited for clarity\n\n4. Stuffy and Glenda. From Rankin-Bass's 'The First Easter Rabbit'. I made an ACEO of these two back in 2016. I lost that upload when I purged my gallery, and the drawing ...was sold on eBay (it was the last ACEO I sold before those of Pupstar and Gene in late 2018). :P\n\nAnyway, The First Easter Rabbit is the best non-Christmas RB special, IMHO. :3\n\nA bit of fun trivia is this special borrows a couple backgrounds from RB's interpretation of 'The Hobbit'. :3\n\n5. Sims and Genghis. Sims the Hen has fallen for Genghis, the (bitey!) fox cub. Sims is one of the Foxbusters: a trio of flying hens who protect their coop from the evil (and mostly dumb) foxes of the forest. For at least one episode, Genghis was an exception among foxes. :3\nI've seen only a few episodes, via YT. I have no childhood recollections of Foxbusters---I don't even think I knew of its existence ...my not being English might've been a factor there! XD\n...That said, I don't think I missed much. Don't misunderstand: the show is fine (for what it is), I've just seen much better ...albeit, my 10-year-old self might have thought differently. Today, I'm a cynical adult approaching mid-life with existential and psychological issues (cartoon animals can't help me! XD).\n\n\"[Foxbusters] won two major awards in 2000; a BAFTA for 'Best Animated Series' and the other was from the British Animation Awards for 'Best Children's Series'\"\n-wikipedia.com\n\nInteresting. :3\n\nAnyway, this scribble was a bit harder than the others, mostly because I had to freehand Genghis. By 'freehand', I mean drawing without underlying spheres/guidelines. I opted to do this to reduce the need to erase unwanted lines (as doing so creates dust/splotches).\nI wouldn't care so much (this is just a dump, after all), but I feel bad about the last dumpling, in which I didn't finish one of the entries (Squadcar). ...That's lazy, and I should know better ...and explains why these sketches look a bit more polished than the others (it's compunction).\n\nThe drawings I label as 'quickies' focus more on *speed than quality. Consequent to the scale I draw in, speed is reduced somewhat, esp. when freehanding (and speedy drawings are messy, requiring much clean-up) ...so technically, this wasn't a quickie. :P\nSims was both simple and large enough to make an undersketch for, but Genghis was not (thus explaining why Sims looks better here).\nAdditionally, quickies are often (but not always) redrawn screenshots.\nFor ACEO, I tend to draw the subject in a pose I don't see them in (i.e., Butch dancing like Michael Jackson), making the drawing more 'original' (I'm an artist, after all, not a Xerox machine). :3\n\n*a typical quickie takes between two and ten minutes to sketch (before clean-up), depending on detail.\nContrariwise, a single-subject ACEO requires at least 45 minutes---some have taken well over an hour (yes, I suck---a Korean animator could redraw most every ACEO I have in my gallery in less than a work day ...and the result would be several times better\n\n...no, I'm not exaggerating,\n\n\"Animators with over 15 year experience can hit over 100 frames per day\" -quora.com\n\nAs of this date, I have 177 draws in my FurAffinity ...in the ten years I've been there, I would have 365,000 in said gallery, if I were competent.\n\nAnd, no, this isn't apples to oranges: my subjects were designed for animation (I draw TV characters). :3\n\nEither way, that's a sobering thought... what to do about it? ...I know!). :P\n\n*pops open another beer; plays 'Bring it All Back' by S Club 7 ...the sun returns; bluebirds sing*\n\nThere we go!\n\n...Anyway,\n\n6. Marsha. Yes, she's a marshmallow ...and she sings.\n\n...Hm. You know, this sketch dumpling has an unintended theme of 'natural enemies' going on: dog-cat/rabbit; cat-mouse/rabbit; *chicken-mouse; fox-chicken/mouse/rabbit...\n\n*...Oh, yes, chickens will eat mice---the birds are basically T-rexes, after all. Such is one reason why I don't spend extra monies buying free-range poultry (one is what one eats, after all, and roaming hens love roaches, mice, toads---whatever creeping things they find). Then again, the aforelisted is probably more wholesome than what captive chicken is force fed ...You just can't win! :P\n\n...Returning to Marsha, does she break the theme of 'natural enemies'? ...No. Marsha would fall prey to Pixie and Dixie (mice have hunted the wild marshmallow for millions of years ...didn't you know that?).\nSo, what do marshmallows eat? Rocky Road Cereal, of course (and now you know where Marsha's from)!\n\n7. Brain. I've drawn Brain before, but wanted to retry. Brain, of course, is from the animated Inspector Gadget series. This aired alongside Heathcliff, which was produced by the same studio (DIC). The two shows would sometimes reference one another, usually via cameos/objects in backgrounds.\n\n...Of the two shows, Inspector Gadget was the better series---I genuinely laughed a few times watching an episode just now. Good stuff. :3\n\nDR. CLAW: \"It's running amok!\" (from the 'Monster Lake' episode)\n\nXDXDXDXDXD ...It's not what he says, but how he says it! Granted, it might be the alcohol, but hearing that made me laugh heartily---something I haven't done in a while!\n\n8. Sharky (in 29 seconds). Seems my dumpling has gone to the dogs ...or to the dog-fish, at least. ^^;\nSharky is from Eek-stravaganza, i.e., Eek! the Cat. 'Eek' was a very dumb series---dumb, but watchable ...which is more than I can say for many of the offerings from Fox Kids.\nHonestly, I liked only Animaniacs, Taz=Mania, X-Men, MMPR and Tiny Toons from the Fox-Kids lineup. I'd count Batman: the Animated Series, but wasn't that CN? It's been twenty years, friends---I really don't remember.\nAnyway, 'Eek' was cute and slap-sticky. The only thing I didn't like from the show was the Thunderlizards segment. I guess the humor was in the same vein, but I didn't like the characters (the aforementioned comprised half the show, hence I'd not count 'Eek' among my favorite Fox-Kids shows ...despite 'Eek' being more tolerable than most). :P\n\n...And, yes, I greatly dislike Bobby's World: Fox Kid's most popular show (I can't stand Bobby's voice, and I despise his mom---who was a gee-golly nightmare). Camp Candy was trash (granted, I saw only one episode), and Life with Louie was watchable ONLY for the father (whose name I can't remember).\n...The lesson to be learned here is stand-up comics should stay away from animation ...unless you're Robin Williams ...who is no longer with us ... and all this writing about comedy has depressed me. :(\n\n*has another beer*\n\n\"chicagotribune.com\nShe vowed to post a love note to a different person each day for a year. Mission accomplished\"\n\n...I've written positivity notes to random uploaders, when drunk (on FA---not joking).\n\nAnyhow, peace out everyone!\n\n...And remember, \"Stop coddling your dog—he’s 99.9% wolf\" (qz.com)","description_bbcode_parsed":""washingtonpost.com
On an island famous for wild ponies, a dangerous infection is killing horses"

"huffingtonpost.com
Trump Guilt Trips America"

"washingtonpost.com
Living paycheck to paycheck is disturbingly common: ‘I see no way out.’"

"businessinsider.com
Bill Gates thinks a coming disease could kill 30 million people within 6 months — and says we should prepare for it as we do for war"

"nautil.us
Yes, You Can Catch Insanity"

Happy new year?

*pops open a can of Aviator IPA*

...Ah. I guess the humor was in the same vein, but I didn't like the characters (the aforementioned comprised half the show, hence I'd not count 'Eek' among my favorite Fox-Kids shows ...despite 'Eek' being more tolerable than most). :P

...And, yes, I greatly dislike Bobby's World: Fox Kid's most popular show (I can't stand Bobby's voice, and I despise his mom---who was a gee-golly nightmare). Camp Candy was trash (granted, I saw only one episode), and Life with Louie was watchable ONLY for the father (whose name I can't remember).
...The lesson to be learned here is stand-up comics should stay away from animation ...unless you're Robin Williams ...who is no longer with us ... and all this writing about comedy has depressed me. :(

*has another beer*

"chicagotribune.com
She vowed to post a love note to a different person each day for a year. Mission accomplished"

...I've written positivity notes to random uploaders, when drunk (on FA---not joking).

Anyhow, peace out everyone!

...And remember, "Stop coddling your dog—he’s 99.9% wolf" (qz.com)","writing":"","writing_bbcode_parsed":"","pools_count":0,"title":"Final Sketch Dumpling (Before New Projects)","deleted":"f","public":"t","mimetype":"image/jpeg","pagecount":"1","rating_id":"0","rating_name":"General","ratings":[],"submission_type_id":"1","type_name":"Picture/Pinup","guest_block":"f","friends_only":"f","comments_count":"4","views":"47","sales_description":null,"forsale":"f","digitalsales":"f","printsales":"f","digital_price":""}
