The sound of dust settling on the thin aluminum of the aircraft assuring them that they have definitely hit the ground.
Complete electrical and hydraulic failure of the aircraft eventually led to a complete engine cut out causing them to frantically look for anywhere to set it down.
With no other options they came down onto a small beachfront of a small little Island.
They hit pretty hard, and the plane didn't stop sliding until they slammed into some rocks, but they survived!
Vera was definitely more banged up than her co-pilot was, hitting her head and going unconscious.
Icarus make sure to remove his avian copilot from the wreckage, and laid her out on the beach.
She remained unconscious, her clothing ripped from the accident.
As she lied there recovering, Iccy salvaged what radio equipment he could from the wreckage and began to signal for help.
After a about an hour, he was able to receive a signal....
Vera, still quite dazed started to come to as she heard the voice of her co-pilot talking on the radio.
"Yeah....my copilot didn't survive unfortunately...
...ok, I'll keep an eye out for you, over and out"
Vera, who was still just coming back, called over to Icarus.
"W...who are you talking to?
Who didn't make it?"
Icarus put the mic down as he strolled back over to recovering bird.
"I caught a passerby, they will be sending rescue, but it could take a couple days"
Vera let out a sigh of relief hearing that help was on its way but she was still curious as to what she heard.
"I'm sorry, maybe I hit my head harder than I thought I could have sworn you told them I was dead"
Icarus looked down at her before delivering a devious smirk.
"Oh I did, I'm going to need something to do for a couple days"
Vera was incredibly confused by the statement, but before she had a chance to respond she was completely surprised by her co-pilot ripping off what remained of her pants, exposing her to the tropical Sun!
"ICARUS?!?! WHAT ARE YOU D-"
She was cut off before she could finish her question as the lizard clamped his claws around her throat, squeezing her neck with an almost immediate *crunch*
"Fuck.. bird bones break so easily, I was hoping you could choke for me for a while but looks like you just aren't built that way...oh well."
With one more good clamp down of her throat, and a nice audible crunch sound of her hollow bones, Vera could only gasp and pathetically struggle to pull in any Oxygen through her crushed windpipe.
Poor bird didn't make it too much longer after that as her already blue face started to go purple, and Icarus watched the life slowly drain from her eyes.
In his excitement he almost forgot to thrust into her, but he did manage to slip himself in before her last few moments of struggle before she would go completely limp.
Several days of a tropical Paradise with a corpse of a pretty bird to pass the time with?
Just perks of being a pilot I suppose.
