Not sure of what he might find Icarus grab the nearest pitchfork and started poking through the hay mow (and no it's not called a hay mound) till suddenly a feminine "ahhh" belted out from the mow.
With a Swift flick of his tail Icarus uncovered a little stowaway, she was a peach colored skull-faced possum!
Holding the Pitchfork over her he asked what she was doing here. "I'm sorry...was just looking for a place to sleep and I didn't think anyone was around." Icarus lowered his Pitchfork and offered his hand out, helping pull her from the hay.
The to climbed down the ladder and the possum began to brush the chaff from her fur. "Well, it's nice to meet you, my name is Peachie " she replied as she held out her paw for a friendly handshake.
The two new acquaintances chatted for the next few minutes, she explained why it was exactly she was sleeping in this Barn and also continued to apologize for squatting.
Icarus didn't seem to be overly concerned at this point, in fact you could say he was almost a bit smitten by this peach colored rodent. Icarus offered the barn to her for as long as she needed and even offered to bring some actual pillows and blankets for her to use, to which he briefly left to go to the house to retrieve.
Now alone and feeling quite satisfied with the turn of events Peachie finally started to take in this old barn she had been sleeping in for the last few nights now that she has permission to be in there. It was old, hand cut beams but it was solid still. And even though she was a rare breed she was still a possum, which still gave her a natural desire to burrow in soft hay! And she waited for acres to return she brushed against a hastily stacked wall of square bales, causing them to fall to the ground. Obviously it wasn't very loud but what those bales were concealing was what the true shocker was.... Behind them there were two dead bodies...Peachie could immediately see these were the corpses of a chicken and a donkey girl, the ones that have been missing for over a week!
Peachie's mouth hung a gate in absolute horror and shock and she gazed upon the two bodies lazily covered with straw... But before she had time to even react she heard the barn door slam behind her.
Icarus had returned, no pillow or blankets in hand as he stood between her and the only obvious exit.
Peachie let out a scream as she immediately attempted to scurry away from the lizard, perhaps back up the ladder, into the mow and possibly escape.
But that ambition was immediately extinguished as Icarus instantly caught up with her, pulling her off at the ladder and pinning her to the floor.
The poor possum attempted to fight back but all of her scratches and kicks did nothing to loosen his grip.
She watched and fought in horror and she could see him pulling a knife from his belt and raising it high above his head.
Peachie attempted to scream again but was cut off as Icarus plunged the knife right between her breasts, knocking any air that she had right out of her.
Her mouth was wide open as if somebody was screaming but only a light whimper followed by a gargling sound could be heard! Icarus now stands up to observe his fresh handy work.... The possum lying at his feet, pathetically trembling as she fumbles her hands at the knife in her chest unable to remove it.
Those copper colored eyes of hers glowing dimmer and dimmer as her blood-filled attempts to breathe got weaker and weaker until shortly after, she made no more attempts, her hands went limp, and she let out one last bloody gasp.
Icarus would spend the rest of the evening with his new friend, being sure to enjoy such a rare species inside and out... She would continue to believe for a while but it was easy enough just to kick a little bit of fresh straw over the blood stains on the floor.
