"description": "I decided to leave this as a sketch. You’ve already seen this version of Gerra in past sketches before, but I never explained it. Now I will.\n\nThere are more endings to his story, this one is my personal favorite, as much as I love the idea of a good death where the hero takes both himself and the ultimate evil down at the same time.\n\n--“THE VOID” ENDING// ITERATION #001--\n\nThe feeling of having one’s entire being rewritten molecule by molecule isn’t something easily described. It is being torn apart in a way no living thing should ever be able to experience. No one should ever know the pain of death without dying. The feeling of the cold nothing which exists beyond dimensions and causality bleeding inside your body and mind alike, rupturing every vein, splitting every cell, changing all that you are. Forever.\n\nThis is what happened to Gerra. \n\nAfter he caused the prison to begin to self destruct he slipped free of the wiring and found one of the ships the Wardens used to breach dimensional barriers. Once getting into the prison’s neural network he learned everything about it, including where the ships were and how to get inside and fly one. What he didn’t know was the price he’d have to pay to actually be accepted by the ship.\n\nLike everything within the prison, the ships were biological machines. They needed the pilot to be of the same genetic structure as the Wardens, or they couldn’t be operated nor would they accept anything less. \n\nThe black ooze which made up the prison’s blood, however, covered Gerra from head to toe. He was also wounded, one antennae torn off and patches of skin missing from how he’d had to literally rip himself free from the fusion his connecting to the neural network had unwittingly caused him to undergo. His blood and that of the prison were already mixed. In a way, the two had already become one.\n\nIt was only the first step. Once the ship accepted him inside, that’s when it closed its jaws around him and changed him into the monstrosity he is today.\n\nEven while he was undergoing his transformation, the ship was already reading his will and acting on it. By the time he came to he was floating safely within a universe he had never seen before, lying on the floor of the ship. Everything felt wrong when he tried to move. Too many limbs seemed to exist where none had before, and the ones he already possessed no longer felt like his own. \n\nIt was only when he touched down on the nearest habitable planet that he got a good look at himself within the reflection of a fresh water stream.\n\nAll he could do was stare in horror.\n\n--\n\nFURTHER INFORMATION\n\nKey features of Gerra’s “Warden” form: long black tendrils lay cape-like from his shoulders down. Never once has he encountered another intelligent being like him. The closest he's found are tribespeople, and the peoples with technology have largely never explored many of the planets within their own solar systems let alone those orbiting any other stars.\n\nWithout a home, a single member of his own species, or even an intellectual equal, he grows lonelier and lonelier... and more and more of his morals are stripped away. Compared to who he was before being imprisoned, he is absolutely deranged at this point. \n\nHe's left, eventually, with a deep need for companionship which leads him to toy with species that can somewhat match his ability to communicate, sometimes kidnapping them. Though he treats them more as specimens than companions, never as equals. If only because they never are. \n\nSometimes he did grow hopeful with specimens, only to be disappointed every time. None of these specimens ever really met a natural end, and they are never returned to their homes no matter how they beg. If they do not cooperate or kill themselves first, he kills them himself... though usually not mercifully, and even more usually they die on an operating table where he can harvest their organs or parts for trophies (or use them in other ways... he's ever the creative mind, still, and living beings are made up of very many valuable resources.)",
