Angel kitsune was one of the successes, born out of an artificial female egg, inseminated by a natural sperm. Said sperm happened to belong to Adam Kitsune, Kayla's father, who spearheaded the mana research and later derived projects.
She grew up on an artificial womb, her genome was not altered in any shape or form like the artifices will later be, she was just meant to prove the viability of the experimental artificial egg. The scientists had to react fast, Mana is a self replicating substance, and it began spreading inside her body. The intoxicated blood was just getting worse and worse, so very quickly the scientists tied her up to a bench, strapping belts and buckles around her extremities to desperately block and reduce her blood flow, making her pass out.
They managed to stop the dispersion, now they just needed to get it out of her body, which proved to be an incredibly dificult task even with the technology of the time. Much like cancer, whenever part of it was removed more would start replicating.
She began wearing buckles and straps, which made her heart rate much slower than normal, preventing Mana from expanding even more. The negative effect however, was that she became incredily "slow" and somnolent. She never spoke much, as she didn't socialize at all growing up locked in a cage basically, but after this event she stopped speaking altogether.
She was tired all the time, and though her eyes started glowing blue after the accident, all light was gone from them.What was once an easgoing, happy child, became a husk. From lab, to test, to surgery, always wearing straps, never seing any other kids or spending time with her parents, the cub had basically no life.
