Many governments of the world decided the Contract Hunters have become too dangerous and banded together to have them outlawed. It was mutually decided that every member was to be killed, either by the solders who found them if they resisted or in a public forum if they surrendered, being promised an honorable treatment and burial if they did. Ion and Zephyr were caught off guard by this decision, coming home from a successful Hunt, nearing town the two boys were surrounded by a division of solders and questioned. After it was revealed that Ion and Zephyr were Hunters, they were given the option of either surrendering or a cruel death. Not knowing what was going on, Ion and Zephyr surrendered, hoping that once they were brought back to town, the Hunters would rectify the situation. The solders quickly arrested them, though to Ion's and Zephyr's surprise, they were forced to strip naked before their hands were tied behind their backs. Each of them a little embarrassed with their bodied exposed, they were lead into town and they got a bit worried when walking past the towns folk, the two boys were jeered and had objects thrown at them. Both Ion's and Zephyr's heart sank when they were lead to the public gallows where freshly strung nooses hung above trap doors, where below, empty execution plates stood.
It was finally revealed to them that the Hunters were deemed to dangerous and that every member was ordered to be executed. Ion and Zephyr tried to protest for their lives but were told no exceptions would be made, though when their age was asked and the both of them answered that they were only 18, with Ion just turning that age a few days ago and Zephyr just a month before that, some raised the question that they should be spared as they didn't realize that there were Hunters this young. The officials pondered imprisonment for the two boys, with the possibility of down the line reintegrating them into standard society but it was ultimately decided that the boys were tainted and the executions would go on as planned. Ion and Zephyr were lead to the top of the gallows and the nooses were wrapped around their necks. Ion started having a panic attack as Zephyr tried on last push for their lives before the door under their feet gave way and the both of them descended below.
The sudden stop caused major pain in both Ion's and Zephyr's necks as the both of them started having trouble breathing and started to suffocate. Zephyr struggling his body, managed to get his hands free, with what little strength he had left he was going to make sure Ion would make it, even if he had to die doing it. Swinging his body, Zephyr managed to grab a hold of Ion, he quickly untied Ion's hands and then held his body up, telling him to break free. Ion seeing that time was running out for both of them, raised his hands to start untying the noose around his neck, he struggled to get a good grip on the rope as panic set in, Zephyr's noose was breaking, if it snapped, Ion would not have time to untie his, making Zephyr's sacrifice in vein. Ion managed to finally get his noose untied, as the one around Zephyr snapped, making them both fall to the ground, Ion quickly regaining his balance pulled the rope off from around Zephyr's neck, shaking him to hopefully see he was still alive. Zephyr's eyes opened moments latter as Ion felt a bit of relief but they were not out of the wood yet, guards had surrounded them but this time Ion and Zephyr would fight back, they surrendered peacefully before but now was the time to show them what Hunters could do, even weaponless and naked. They rushed forward, fangs and claws exposed as they proceeded to rip apart anyone who stood in their way as they made a run for the forest outside the city walls, a trail of blood carved through their path but eventually they made it as no one was following them anymore. Finally safe and alone, Ion and Zephyr embraced each other, still alive after their brief encounter with death, they didn't know yet what they would do, where they would go but for the time being they would enjoy any peace they got
