When the people of the world needed Pokemon for their young trainers, they turned to the Pokemon league for a solution. After all, there were hundreds of species scattered all over the world that could potentially fit, so how was one to know that the tiny pebble they picked up and handed to their kid wasn't going to evolve into a tempermental spiked boulder in a matter of months? After a long period of careful deliberation, endless debates, and focused research, the League came back with their choice; a simple elemental triangle of Pokemon from each separate region who would be bred and trained carefully into easy to raise, easier to care for Pokemon who none the less grew strong just as the Trainer did. They were called starters, and once the initial kinks were worked out, they became the standard from the tip of Sinnoh to Melemele Island. These days, you can't open a pokemon handbook without being greeted by the cheerful, bubbly, and firey personalities of the classic trio... But, as one might expect, this came with a price; these specific three species in each region nearly lost their presence in the wild entirely, becoming one of the very few pokemon who were entirely domesticated. And without entire fields full of them to procreate as they would, they had to contend with artifical breeding within labs... A feat that put an immediate damper on their headcount... And with the rising demand pulling them even deeper into 'debt', so to speak... Well, it was needless to say that the scientists were not about to disappoint the wide eyed trainers on the first day of their illustrious pokemon journeys... Whether it was by hiring more Breeders, focusing on the popular ones, attempting to repopulate the wilds... Or of course, in some cases, attempting to take some manner of short cut... Vixen poked her head briefly from the door and looked around, her tall ears twitching for a moment before she slipped inconspicuously into the hall and shook the lint from her fur. Yet again the absentminded or trusting scientists had left the door to her pen propped open. Behind her were at least a dozen more less curious fennekin who had no desire to venture out into the sterile white halls that confused their very senses with medicinal scents and nothing but human writing to guide them. They had cushions and food and water! And the promise of an eventual adventure out there with some nice young trainer, so why go exploring? Vixen knew why. It was for the sheer fun of it... To slake the curiosity that burned at her insides worse than the embers there, and demanded she find out more about the world she lived in. She trotted down the hall as if she owned it, lifting her head high and waving her tail lightly, a smug smirk on her face. All of that of course instantly went away as she heard the soft sound of an approaching vacuum cleaner. Intelligent as she may have been, she ws still four legs and fur, meaning the sound of that infernal contraption was already putting her on edge. She glanced from side to side before spotting one of the many doors had been left slightly ajar. She bolted inside, then nudged the door closed with a back foot. Listening carefully, with all the tense anticipation of a wild animal in a net, she sighed with relief as the vacuum approached, then faded into the distance... With that done, her ears drooped slightly as she realized she'd been a moron, and trapped herself in the room. She turned around, blinking in the darkness... With a couple puffs, her middle and chest began to glow with the embers contained therein. It wasn't much light, but enough for her to see things like a couple desk, a cabinet tightly locked, and... in the center of the room there was a food dispenser? Just like the one in her room, though hooked up to a reserve of food that smelled... quite different. Almost like what she smelled like whenever she was in heat. She stared at the food for a few moments before leaning forward and nipping one of the nuggets of food, swallowing it down after a couple short chomps. Her eyes widened, and like she'd been possessed by a snorlax, the food bowl was soon emptied. Along with the food she'd eaten before she left the room, she flopped to her side and groaned as her stomach immediately gurgled and growled at her for her gluttony. But it hadn't been her fault, had it? The scientists had left that delicious food just sitting there, waiting, all night, like they wanted her to sneak in and take it! Humans and their... Their...! Well. It was over now. Or mostly over. She might've explored the office and found a way to escape, but the food and fullness left her there on her side. She curled up and, within moments, found herself dozing... And then dreaming deeply of lying on a sea of wiggly geletin... She awoke with a start, and a soft yip of surprise. Her lower body felt... pained. The entire food bowl was acting like it wanted to come back up. She huffed and rolled onto her feet, then looked back with eyelids drooped in fatigue... Sure enough, her stomach glowed and was a little too puffed up to be mistaken for anything but bloating. She put a paw briefly to her muzzle in embarrassment, then glanced again at the food bowl. It still smelled divine... Even tempting her to eat through her sickness... But, no... No indeed, she had enough willpower to resist! Even... if... The food was already gone anyway, haha... Ears drooped, she trotted forward slowly and winced when she found the movement weighed on her stomach pretty heavily. She blushed and then paused when she realized that the door was still closed. And the lights were still dim. No one was here... She apparently hadn't slept too long... But, obviously she couldn't wait much longer if she was to make her way back home. They were probably already worried sick about her... Still, something felt off... Her paws had their usual pep, but seemed to push harder into the carpet. Her hips seemed to... Push apart more? And every time she tried to lie down, her milkline tickled in a way it never had before. She laid herself down anyway, and tried to nap longer in case that would help the drowsy, sick sensation, but the absurd shifting gurgling of her bloated tummy was... Wait, bloated? She looked down at herself and blinked; indeed. She was as bloated as if she'd fallen asleep with a fire hose caught in her throat. But she hadn't. All she'd had was the food bowl... And while it was way too much for one fennekin, it certainly shouldn't have been enough to make her look like she'd swallowed a young voltorb... Then of course it got worse. Just as she was about to turn and look for a way out, her stomach gurgled louder, and she felt as if she'd just guzzled another long drink of water. She snapped her attention again to her stomach, and t his time got to watch as it swelled outwards subtly. A line of dark flesh was appearing straight down the center of her swelling teats, and her stomach now visibly hung and swayed as she stepped across the carpet. She was suddenly thankful it was so short, else she might have been tickled to death just trotting forward! Or... Well, waddling forward. She huffed a couple times with effort before moving as quickly as she could to the other side of the lab. In that time, the gurgling mounted again slowly, then stopped as her stomach swelled with what she could swear was an audible stretching noise, as if she was a balloon. She planted her paws to come to a halt, and looked back at what was now a stomach that forced itself to either side, and barely hung above the ground if she stood with straight legs...! She quickly looked here and there, ignoring the pain in her spine and... There! A door with a pet flap was on the other wall! If she could just... She moved towards it, her back end now taking time to catch up with her front, as her stomach began that ominous gurgling again. The fox paled as she realized that unlike the first couple of times, the noise wasn't short, followed by a bit of swelling. The odious thrumming bubbled in her belly continuously now, starting to get louder and higher pitched. If the pattern held, she very much didn't want to know what happened when the noise stopped! She almost vaulted the short step up and stuck her feet through the pet door, then her front legs... Then the gurgling stopped. She yelped in surprise as she felt her stomach expanding. Though she couldn't see it, she knew what was happening; stretch lines formed under her fur as she grew to melon size, to beach ball size, and then beyond?! She yipped again as the door creaked around her taut tummy, firmly sticking her there immobile, and g rowing just a bit more in case she had plans or hopes for escape. It wasn't uncomfortable, thankfully, but she was forced to stand there as her stomach bubbled... She braced herself for more growth... But the bubbling seemed to be from general upset, rather than more growing. Vixen waited, then sighed in relief. At least she wasn't going to break the door... But, she also wasn't going to escape into the living space beyond. It was unoccupied, and seemed to be a place for a pokemon to live while they were being observed. Like her home, but... For a single pokemon? Why would they need a room for just one Pokemon? She flinched and groaned a bit as her body shifted balance. Forward, then back. She was almost rocking now... She wiggled her front paws to plant them back on the ground... And that's when she felt it... A single, tiny sensation in her stomach. No more than a soft tinge. A tickle... And then another. And another, and another and another! She blushling looked back at what she could, wincing and blushing bright as her stomach seemed to rock and wobble of its own accord. But no, she realized, it wasn't doing this on its own... It was... Coming from... Inside...? Pups! Her ears perked high and she smiled wide as she realized that what she'd swelled up so large with was pups...! Other tiny fennekin who were now wiggling about like earthworms in fresh mud, tickling her in her most intimate and sacred of chambers. She couldn't have been more excited as she realized that she was to be a mommy... Haha, and at least a dozen times over. Probably more... That still left her stuck, but she rocked pleasantly for the time being, dozed a bit, and eventually was awoken by the sounds of a door openind behind her. She perked, yawned, and looked back. Indeed she heard amazed humans jabbering with excitement. Her tail was petted, and they switched to making soft coos at her, probably trying to ccalm her down. They couldn't see the soft grin on her face that indicated she was more pleased than a plum at her current condition... Well. Until she felt the first contraction... Hours later, nearly a full day, she opened her eyes and glanced around at the 17 fennekin pups that had been conceived so suddenly. They were scarcely smaller than her, but she didn't mind... The scientists had seemed quite pleased at her, and were waving their hands about, celebrating as each new fennekin came out. Apparently this was some big accomplishment, but to Vixen, it was just a miracle. One that she hadn't expected... But none the less, she was pleased as she groomed the fennekin infant that sat in her paws... But, to be honest... It was almost disappointing. She'd always heard through the grapevine about breeding, pregnancy, being a mommy. It seemed almost as if she had been gyped of a big part of it. But such thoughts were set aside until... A soft gurgling was heard. Vixen flinched at the discomfort and glanced around. She was in the room that she had been half stuck in all night, but by all accounts she was alone. The scientists were probably off excitedly talking the ears off some investor. So then.... Was what she heard...? She heard it again, and rolled on her side. Her eyes perked wide as the gurgling mounted and built up, and up... And then stopped. And yet again, before her eyes, she watched her stomach blow up... Pushing outwards from her body, forming first an indiscernable lump... Then a vague roundness... Then a distinct sphere... And then a distorted sphere as one part of it pushed tightly against the ground, and the other stuck up in the air... She rolled onto all fours again and shook herself off, causing her rapidly swelling belly to sway and move her hips. Within moments, it was once again jutting out to either side, and scraping the carpet below. Vixen stared at it, and then grinned slowly... Seemed like her litter was only just getting started... -End-
