He technically had no reason to feel so nervous, yet here he was, beyond nervous even, he was positively on edge and feeling exactly like the anxious dork he had been back in high school.\n\nAs the hyena walked out of the dorm and made his way to the bus stop he supposed that maybe it was normal to be a [i]little[/i] bit nervous, considering he hadn’t seen Bradley since he and his parents had helped the honey badger move into his own dorm room at CIT last summer. It had been bittersweet saying goodbye to Bradley after they’d spent the better part of a decade with each other, but at least after Alrik’s parents had vanished back to their hotel room they’d made the best of their last night together.\n\nAlrik felt a twitch from inside his boxers and pulled his jacket down to cover the start of a what would likely be a raging, obvious hard-on; it most probably wasn’t a great idea to think about their last night together, not right before he got on a crowded bus, and definitely not after he’d skipped jacking off for the past two days in preparation for their reunification. Although now that he thought about it, [i]that[/i] had definitely been a mistake, he was just horny and anxious and it wasn’t like The Bradger was going to hop off the train and instantly give him head or anything, most likely he’d just guaranteed an awkward, jittery morning.\n\nAnd what if things were [i]Weird[/i] when they finally saw each other? They’d talked on the phone almost every night for the past four months and things [i]seemed[/i] fine, but what if they weren’t? Alrik had never had to deal with Relationship Drama, but from what he’d picked up from his friends, things seeming ok could be a sign of all kinds of problems! Alrik focused on taking slow, deep breaths as he took a seat on the bus, willing his heart to stop racing. At least his borderline panic attack was killing his boner, sort of.\n\nBy the time the bus wheezed to a stop in front of the Madrigueras City train station, Alrik had managed to stave off his panic attack, although he still felt a foreboding sense of impending doom in the pit of his stomach. He stepped off the bus and looked at his phone, he was almost an hour early, plenty of time to imagine that Bradley was going to immediately break up with him when he stepped off the train. Or maybe not even show up at all, he’d gotten a message from Bradley at 4 am saying he was heading to the train station, but what if he’d had second thoughts and was just too embarrassed to say he wasn’t coming after all? It was definitely what Alrik would have done in the same situation.\n\nHe was pretty sure if Bradger had met someone else he would know, but what if they had just outgrown each other? Everyone kept telling him that it almost always happened if you tried to do long distance, most especially if it was with someone you’d dated in high school. Even his parents, who loved the honey badger like family and were as delighted as anyone that he and Alrik were dating, had cautiously brought up that sometimes long distance Just Didn’t Work Out. Bradley, surrounded by studly engineering students and Cool, Smart Adults and Hot College Co-Eds, would start to see Alrik as his dorky little kid friend, and then one day he would tell Alrik that ‘They Needed To Talk’ and he would have to drop out of school and move back in with his parents; then he could spend the rest of his life as a hermit, most probably surrounded by fading pictures of Bradley, until one day they would find him after the smell got too bad and the doctor would say ‘It is Extremely Unusual, but I’m sorry, your son has most probably died of a Broken Heart’. His parents would be sad, but kind of relieved and Bradley wouldn’t be able to make it to the funeral because his super hot (but secretly evil) wife wouldn’t let him.\n\nAlrik forced his racing mind to slow down by sheer force of will and focused on taking slow, deep breaths, he was certainly being as melodramatic as he ever was in high school.\n\nAlrik had still almost decided it would most probably be better if he just made the first move and told Bradley they should break up, when the train slowly pulled into the station with a piercing squeal. It wasn’t like he could have done it anyways, he decided, regardless of how Weird things got; his Feelings for Bradley ran way deeper than a just some dumb high school relationship. And furthermore, while Alrik might have been capable of panicking and skipping getting on the train before throwing his cellphone down a storm drain, The Bradger certainly wasn’t, even if it was only to break up with him, Bradley would have come up to do it in person. Alrik felt a brief dizzying wave of feelings thinking about how brave Bradley was, then took a deep breath and got ready to see his boyfriend.\n--\n\n“Alrik!” Bradley yelled, then nimbly leapt down the narrow steps of the train car, his duffle bag bouncing against his back, and ran to the hyena, scooping Alrik up in a crushing bear hug and spinning him around before giving him a quick kiss on the mouth; without thinking, Alrik kissed him back, slipping his tongue into Bradley’s mouth and clinging tightly to him. Most of his most immediate terror vanished, this wasn’t how he thought Bradley would greet someone he intended to break-up with.\n\nBradley finally pulled away, panting.\n“I’m glad to see you too,” the honey badger broke into a rare, beaming smile and Alrik thought he might actually swoon and faint dead away. The familiar smell gave Alrik a weird, aching nostalgia that quickly passed as he looked up at his boyfriend in shock; he had always thought the badger boy was cute, but over the past semester The Bradger had gotten [i]hot[/i].
