Almost everything about Tyler Ferrer and Theo Aardings is unlikely: two boys from vanishingly rare species who first met on a tropical island far from California. Theo on his family's yearly vacation and Tyler with his aunt while his parents finalized a nasty divorce. After being trapped in a tidal cave during a freak downpour, Tyler managed to distract the panicking aardwolf boy with some making out, but after going back home to the Big City had assumed he'd never see the stripey boy again.
On arriving home, the Tyler's newly single mom announced that they'd be moving to boring, rural San Tejon for her new job. Although devastated at leaving all of his friends and the excitement of city life behind him, Tyler could at least pretend like he might run into the cheerful aardboy again. Fully expecting to find out that Theo went to a different school, or lived in a different San Tejon entirely, the moody black footed ferret was secretly delighted to run into him on the very first day of 9th grade.
Although Theo is impossibly cheerful, athletic, and outgoing while Tyler is...none of those things, the boys very quickly became an Official Couple.
