while, caused me argues and troubles with friends and followers and mostly....caused me to quit on anime and manga for good.\n\nANTHRO CHARACTERS waste. \n\nOh yeah....i am going there, again. \n\n\n\nListen, i am gonna make one point very clear. I AM NOT AGAINST A CHARACTER'S DEATH, AT ALL, actually, some character deaths are....very important, dramatic and actually part of the story. I'll only give one example, but i am sure it will be more than enough....MUFASA ON THE LION KING. Yes, it's a very sad moment, yes, MAYBE it was way too “graphic” for the time (actually showing his dead body after the stampede, with a very traumatized simba trying to wake him up....wow....) but....the point is....IT WAS IMPORTANT FOR THE STORY, VERY IMPORTANT, IT WAS A LITERAL TURNING POINT, IT HAD WEIGHT, IT MEANT SOMETHING, IT ALTERED THE STORY AND THE CHARACTERS. IT HAD A PERMANENT IMPACT, not only on the movie....but, in all of the lion king's lore and story, including the lion guard (a series i will certainly review someday, cus it's amazing) yes, mufasa's death is a characrter's death, done right. \n\nAnd then comes leomon.....\n\nlisten, i'll make it clear...LEOMON IS THE LITERAL REASON WHY I BOTH LOVED DIGIMON BACK THEN, AND HATE IT RIGHT NOW. Back in adventure, my all time favorite season of digimon. Leomon was a very important character, HE WAS A MENTOR, A FATHER FIGURE, YES, FATHER FIGURES AND MENTORS ARE IMPORTANT, DEAL WITH IT.\n\nHis first death, IT WAS EPIC AND PERFECT, it literally told everyone things had changed for good on the story, THE GLOVES WERE OFF, THE RISK WAS REAL. Also, leomon and goblimon's last goodbye, cut short....wow.....that meoment when goblimon can't hold his friend's hand one last time....THAT'S HOW YOU DO IT. It was perfect, it kept ringing during the rest of the season, it had relevance.....and then, they killed leomon over, and over, and over....and over.... \n\ntoei....IT WAS COOL THE FIRST TIME, THE OTHER 20 THOUSAND TIMES YOU DID IT, IT WAS NOT. At least, they had the courtesy to make leomon's death permanent on digimon tri (and, please, don't tell me he came back off camera, the digiworld reset never happened, it was never shown, so, yeah, leomon is dead, for good, he was deleted on the real world, and his data vanished on thin air, it was not recollected, digimon tri killed leomon for good, because digimon tri is the zack snyder of digimon....and it sucks for that very same reason.) there are rumors of a new movie coming next year....but....considering the mess tri was, and how poorly it sold.....i am not sure it will happen, and frankly....i don't want it to happen. Digimon, as an anime series, is dead, and, it better stays that way. Unless toei proclaims that tri is not canon....BUT IT IS...so, yeah, digimon died. Vaya con dios, digimon. \n\n\n\nNow, Imagine star wars without obi wan training luke....you get rey......imagine batman without alfred, you get damian wayne.....imagine the ninja turtles without master splinter....you get the terrible idw comic book (yeah, splinter is on the book, but he is basically a villain now, leading the foot clan, separated from his sons, and slowly becoming the new shredder....i am calling it, he will turn evil, and jennika will kill him stupidly to give the “forced inclusion” turtle relevance beyond the fact that she is female....because....venus de milo, ninjara, alopex.....THERE ARE NOT GOOD FEMALE CHARACTERS ON TMNT LORE, according to the new writer, who already made it clear that her book will be FOCUSED ON JENNIKA, so...yeah...splinter must die, for the sake of cheap drama....) but...splinter's forced exclusion from anything tmnt...is a theme i will talk about later. Back to anthro characters wasted....\n\nTHE MIGHTY MUTANIMALS. People.... this is character waste, at its best. They were amazing, actually....more interesting and cool than the turtles back then, NOT SAYING THAT THJE ARCHIE TMNT BOOK WAS BAD, FAR FROM IT. IT WAS A VERY FUN BOOK, but, the mutanimals were a very interesting team, i mean leatherhead's team up with donatello is amazing, and the team dynamics were cool, a lil shallow at times, but, the team vibe was there....i have no real idea of why archie comics, the writer or whoever decided it was a good idea to kill them off, but...they did....it was an in your face moment, no doubts about it, the mutanimals are dead....for good, there's even a pic of them, arriving to heaven, realizing they are dead.....again, the real reasons behind this decision, are all runmors, archie comics was afraid the mutanimals were stealing tmtn's thunder, the writer didn't like the characters, the artist had issues....again, all rumors, all valid. But it all leads to the same sad result....a very good idea....literally wasted. \n\nOh yeah, the mutanimals kinda came back later....but....as far as i know, they were either changed totally, sex and species, or died again, like slash, on the idw comic....dear lord, this book is gross....CUS, YOU KNOW THE ONLY REASON TO BRING SLASH BACK WAS CHEAP DRAMA, to show mikey had feelings...and there was no other way to do that....we are talking about the book that turned bebop and rocksteady into serial killers when they bashed open donnie's shell while making jokes about his entrails....seriously....THAT'S ALL KINDS OF RETARDED, PEOPLE. \n\nBut, again....the turtles, are for another article. \n\n\nBack to anime.\n\nSAJIN KOMAMURA FROM BLEACH....here's a very special case.....i never understood if he is dead, deleted, turned into human but not. Gone, forgotten....DEAR GOD, IT'S A SHONEN MANGA, WHY TITE KUBO TRIED TO BE EXISTENTIALIST ABOUT IT!!! so, yeah.....sajin is, a character waste, because...we never knew for sure what happened to him. And that is even worse. \n\nIGNEEL FROM FAIRY TAIL...he died, cus he was alive. That's it. “the hero needed motivation for his journey” some say...thing is....HE WAS ALREADY ON HIS JOURNEY, MOTIVATED AND READY. “igneel sacrificed himself to save the protagonist” ANOTHER AMAZING ANIME TROPE, A CHARACTER DIES SAVING A CHARACTER THAT DIDN'T NEED TO BE SAVED, OR WAS STRONG ENOUGH TO PROTECT HIMSELF. Igneel's death....is pure drama for the sake of drama crap. It meant nothing, it left no impact on the characters, IT WAS NEVER MENTIONED AGAIN, THE STUPID DRAGON IS DEAD SO I DONT HAVE TO DRAW IT ANYMORE. That's the only logic explanation i can find, the artist was too lazy to draw him anymore. \n\nKUMATETSU FROM BOY AND THE BEAST. Man...this one is an epic fail, from mamoru hosoda, the same genius behind THE WOLF DAD DIES DROWNED CHASING A BIRD cus he has to be dead cus wolf's children is a drama....yeah, mamoru hosoda....the creator of the LEOMON MUST DIE trope (not directly, but indirectly.) and don't tell me “KUMATETSU FUSED WITH THE SWORD, SO HE IS ALIVE INSIDE THE SWORD” HE HAD WON THE FINAL BATTLE, HE HAD LEARNED HIS LESSON IN HUMILTY AND KINDNESS, HIS STORY ARC WAS COMPLETE,so....he died when an enemy comes out of literally nowhere and kills him.....WHY???? makes no sense. The story's finale could have been the same with him alive, the kid returns to his world, kumatetsu lives his life with the lesson he learned....but no, HSODA NEEDED HIS DRAMA, CUS I AM SURE AN ANTHRO CHARACTER KILLED HIS PARENTS OR SOMETHING. \n\nJAJUKA FROM SCAFLOWNE: talk about character waste, he only appears on two epsiodes, HE IS LITERALLY A PLOT DEVICE, USED, AND THEN WASTED....i wont even bother.....search on wikia. And be amazed at how lazy a writer can be. It's epic. \n\nLUCARIO ON THAT POKEMON MOVIE. ok....he was the main attraction of the movie. HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE MAIN FOCUS OF THE MOVIE, THE NEW POKEMON, and...he dies....stupidly......because....HE WANTED TO HAVE A COFFEE WITH HIS TRIANER IN THE AFTERLIFE???? like....the same tree that killed him could literally bring back people from death, WHY NOT BRING THE GUY BACK INSTEAD OF KILLING LUCARIO? BECAUSE DRAMA IS DRAMA, AND DRAMA IS CHEAP!\n\nYou want to see a very harsh, very sad, and yet very well written anthro character death moemnt? GINA FROM FULL METAL ALCHEMIST. go.....watch it...then come and we can talk about good writing. \n\n\n\nAnd now....i'll mention some series that actually respect anthro characters.\n\nDRAGON QUEST: oh yes, many anthro characters died on dragon quest (dai no daibouken anime and manga.) but....THERE WAS A REASON FOR THEIR DEATHS, BORAHORN, WAS A COLOSSAL EVIL ASSHOLE, SUPER COCKY, AND HAD HIS COMING FOR THAT SAME COCKYNESS. It was perfect, and then, there is CROCODYNE. MY GOD, TALK ABOUT AN AMAZING CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT ARC, he began as a regular empty villain, and slowly became an ally, part of the team, and mostly, a friendly mentor character. HE ADDED HUMANITY TO THE STORY HE KEPT THE TEAM'S MORALE HIGH, and he even managed to get hyunkel out of his shell of bitterness and embrace life and become a hero. IT WAS AMAZING, yes, he died....BUT HE CAME BACK, CUS THE STORY MADE IT CLEAR CHARACTERS CAN COME BACK, (same thing happens on fairy tail, but....igneel can't be brought back because...reasons....) crocodyne is my best example of how an anthro character can be both a mentor, protector, tank character and even cannon fodder, and still be relevant to the story. \n\nDRAGON BALL: not z, dragon ball original series. Anthros were literally half of the planet's population. And it was great. The example i will give is GIRAN. Yes, he was a baddie (not a villain, a baddie...and actually, not a bad guy, just, a little dickish.) but, yeah, he died, but he cane back. And he is still around today. There were other cool anthro characters, yes, cymbal died...but....yeah, he was evil, sorry, he is kinda cute, but..he was evil. King furry, captain yellow (who i am sure i saw later in hell on the freezer movie...and i am sure he escaped hell and is back alive...must confirm that, though.) on later seasons, anthros became less and less common, until super, where the trio de dangers showed that anthros and dragon ball are like pb and jelly. They are still around, they were very cool, unexplored (obvious, considering the massive cast super had.) but still, their episodes were, in fact, amazing. BEERUS AND CHAMPA two amazing characters, a very cool brotherly dynamic between them, and mostly...BOTH ARE LIKEABLE DOUCHES. Something very hard to achieve for any writer. \n\n\n\nWILD KNIGHTS GULKEEVA: here's where i go when anyone tells me THERE MUST BE CHARACTER DEATHS IN SHONEN MANGA TO MAKE THE STORY RELEVANT, DEATH MUST BE A PART OF THE STORY. Go watch this series....and then we talk about that very worng argument there. \n\n\n\nThere are more examples. I just mentioned three shonen series, cus, that's the manga and anime genre where the ANTHROS MUST DIE trope seems to be more used....like in HUNTER X HUNTER. Where a character, pengu LITERALLY DIES WHILE DOING HIS JOB CORRECTLY JUST TO SHOW US THE BAD GUY IS BAD. Pengu's death came out of nowhere, made no sense and had no literal impact on the story, it was just gore porn, cus yes...it was graphic. I guess the author of the manga needed his gore porn fetish pleased....again. \n\n\n\nAnd, one point, SOME OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE ANIME MOVIES FEATURE ANTHRO CHARACTERS DEATHS. POM POKO WARS and PRINCESS MONONOKE are two great examples of how an anthro character's death adds to the sotry, instead of taking away from it. \n\n\nI hope one day anime and manga writers return to the basics when it comes to anthro characters and they stop thinking OLD YELLER about them....WE WANT ANTHRO CHARACTERS, I MEAN...THAT'S WHY ANIMATION IS STILL RELEVANT, CUS WE CAN GET AMAZING FANTASTIC UNREAL CHARACTERS BROUGHT TO LIFE, so...yeah....writers....pelase.....cut the crap, and stop being lazy about anthro characters....please?\n\n\nwell, here's my rant. Oh yeah, the mutanimals kinda came back later....but....as far as i know, they were either changed totally, sex and species, or died again, like slash, on the idw comic....dear lord, this book is gross....CUS, YOU KNOW THE ONLY REASON TO BRING SLASH BACK WAS CHEAP DRAMA, to show mikey had feelings...and there was no other way to do that....we are talking about the book that turned bebop and rocksteady into serial killers when they bashed open donnie's shell while making jokes about his entrails....seriously....THAT'S ALL KINDS OF RETARDED, PEOPLE.

SAJIN KOMAMURA FROM BLEACH....here's a very special case.....i never understood if he is dead, deleted, turned into human but not. Gone, forgotten....DEAR GOD, IT'S A SHONEN MANGA, WHY TITE KUBO TRIED TO BE EXISTENTIALIST ABOUT IT!!! so, yeah.....sajin is, a character waste, because...we never knew for sure what happened to him. And that is even worse.
IGNEEL FROM FAIRY TAIL...he died, cus he was alive. That's it. “the hero needed motivation for his journey” some say...thing is....HE WAS ALREADY ON HIS JOURNEY, MOTIVATED AND READY. “igneel sacrificed himself to save the protagonist” ANOTHER AMAZING ANIME TROPE, A CHARACTER DIES SAVING A CHARACTER THAT DIDN'T NEED TO BE SAVED, OR WAS STRONG ENOUGH TO PROTECT HIMSELF. Igneel's death....is pure drama for the sake of drama crap. It meant nothing, it left no impact on the characters, IT WAS NEVER MENTIONED AGAIN, THE STUPID DRAGON IS DEAD SO I DONT HAVE TO DRAW IT ANYMORE. That's the only logic explanation i can find, the artist was too lazy to draw him anymore.
KUMATETSU FROM BOY AND THE BEAST. Man...this one is an epic fail, from mamoru hosoda, the same genius behind THE WOLF DAD DIES DROWNED CHASING A BIRD cus he has to be dead cus wolf's children is a drama....yeah, mamoru hosoda....the creator of the LEOMON MUST DIE trope (not directly, but indirectly.) and don't tell me “KUMATETSU FUSED WITH THE SWORD, SO HE IS ALIVE INSIDE THE SWORD” HE HAD WON THE FINAL BATTLE, HE HAD LEARNED HIS LESSON IN HUMILTY AND KINDNESS, HIS STORY ARC WAS COMPLETE,so....he died when an enemy comes out of literally nowhere and kills him.....WHY???? makes no sense. The story's finale could have been the same with him alive, the kid returns to his world, kumatetsu lives his life with the lesson he learned....but no, HSODA NEEDED HIS DRAMA, CUS I AM SURE AN ANTHRO CHARACTER KILLED HIS PARENTS OR SOMETHING.
JAJUKA FROM SCAFLOWNE: talk about character waste, he only appears on two epsiodes, HE IS LITERALLY A PLOT DEVICE, USED, AND THEN WASTED....i wont even bother.....search on wikia. And be amazed at how lazy a writer can be. It's epic.
LUCARIO ON THAT POKEMON MOVIE. ok....he was the main attraction of the movie. HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE MAIN FOCUS OF THE MOVIE, THE NEW POKEMON, and...he dies....stupidly......because....HE WANTED TO HAVE A COFFEE WITH HIS TRIANER IN THE AFTERLIFE???? like....the same tree that killed him could literally bring back people from death, WHY NOT BRING THE GUY BACK INSTEAD OF KILLING LUCARIO? BECAUSE DRAMA IS DRAMA, AND DRAMA IS CHEAP!
You want to see a very harsh, very sad, and yet very well written anthro character death moemnt? GINA FROM FULL METAL ALCHEMIST. go.....watch it...then come and we can talk about good writing.
And now....i'll mention some series that actually respect anthro characters.
DRAGON QUEST: oh yes, many anthro characters died on dragon quest (dai no daibouken anime and manga.) but....THERE WAS A REASON FOR THEIR DEATHS, BORAHORN, WAS A COLOSSAL EVIL ASSHOLE, SUPER COCKY, AND HAD HIS COMING FOR THAT SAME COCKYNESS. It was perfect, and then, there is CROCODYNE. MY GOD, TALK ABOUT AN AMAZING CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT ARC, he began as a regular empty villain, and slowly became an ally, part of the team, and mostly, a friendly mentor character. HE ADDED HUMANITY TO THE STORY HE KEPT THE TEAM'S MORALE HIGH, and he even managed to get hyunkel out of his shell of bitterness and embrace life and become a hero. IT WAS AMAZING, yes, he died....BUT HE CAME BACK, CUS THE STORY MADE IT CLEAR CHARACTERS CAN COME BACK, (same thing happens on fairy tail, but....igneel can't be brought back because...reasons....) crocodyne is my best example of how an anthro character can be both a mentor, protector, tank character and even cannon fodder, and still be relevant to the story.
DRAGON BALL: not z, dragon ball original series. Anthros were literally half of the planet's population. And it was great. The example i will give is GIRAN. Yes, he was a baddie (not a villain, a baddie...and actually, not a bad guy, just, a little dickish.) but, yeah, he died, but he cane back. And he is still around today. There were other cool anthro characters, yes, cymbal died...but....yeah, he was evil, sorry, he is kinda cute, but..he was evil. King furry, captain yellow (who i am sure i saw later in hell on the freezer movie...and i am sure he escaped hell and is back alive...must confirm that, though.) on later seasons, anthros became less and less common, until super, where the trio de dangers showed that anthros and dragon ball are like pb and jelly. They are still around, they were very cool, unexplored (obvious, considering the massive cast super had.) but still, their episodes were, in fact, amazing. BEERUS AND CHAMPA two amazing characters, a very cool brotherly dynamic between them, and mostly...BOTH ARE LIKEABLE DOUCHES. Something very hard to achieve for any writer.
WILD KNIGHTS GULKEEVA: here's where i go when anyone tells me THERE MUST BE CHARACTER DEATHS IN SHONEN MANGA TO MAKE THE STORY RELEVANT, DEATH MUST BE A PART OF THE STORY. Go watch this series....and then we talk about that very worng argument there.
There are more examples. I just mentioned three shonen series, cus, that's the manga and anime genre where the ANTHROS MUST DIE trope seems to be more used....like in HUNTER X HUNTER. Where a character, pengu LITERALLY DIES WHILE DOING HIS JOB CORRECTLY JUST TO SHOW US THE BAD GUY IS BAD. Pengu's death came out of nowhere, made no sense and had no literal impact on the story, it was just gore porn, cus yes...it was graphic. I guess the author of the manga needed his gore porn fetish pleased....again.
And, one point, SOME OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE ANIME MOVIES FEATURE ANTHRO CHARACTERS DEATHS. POM POKO WARS and PRINCESS MONONOKE are two great examples of how an anthro character's death adds to the sotry, instead of taking away from it.
I hope one day anime and manga writers return to the basics when it comes to anthro characters and they stop thinking OLD YELLER about them....WE WANT ANTHRO CHARACTERS, I MEAN...THAT'S WHY ANIMATION IS STILL RELEVANT, CUS WE CAN GET AMAZING FANTASTIC UNREAL CHARACTERS BROUGHT TO LIFE, so...yeah....writers....pelase.....cut the crap, and stop being lazy about anthro characters....please?
