As for the series....well, let me make it this simple, for me, it is like this. \n\nTHE MUNSTERS IS FUNNIER THAN THE ADDAMS FAMILY\nbut\nTHE ADDAMS FAMILY CHARACTERS ARE WAY COOLER THAN THE MUNSTERS. \n\nBasically, the addams are way cooler and more creepy than the munsters, but the munsters are funnier. I LOVE BOTH. And again, depends on what you want. \n\nANYWAYS....\n\nthen came the GLORIOUS 90S MOVIE WITH ANGELICA HUSTON AND RAUL “M BISON” JULIA. My god....this movie is perfect....EVEN THE SEQUEL “ADDAMS FAMILY VALUES” IS AMAZINGLY FUNNY, DARK, EDGY AND CREEPY. Both movies are an absolute must see. I mean....ANGELICA HUSTON, RAUL JULIA (OF COURSE??) AND CHRISTOPHER LLOYD (if your concept of lloyd as an actor comes from foodfight, the oogieloves or whatever movies the rapist assholes on channel awesome told you to watch...please, abandon this review immediately, GO WATCH BACK TO THE FUTURE, PLAY TOONSTRUCK and then come back....i mean it.) these movies WERE PERFECT ADAPTATIONS OF THE SOURCE MATERIAL...but, they didn't reach the levels of kooky the original charles adams comic strips had. Not yet. \n\nThere were other series, an animated series i never liked....it's not bad, it's....vanilla. And then....i saw the trailer for a new cgi animated movie...i must admit, my first reaction was IT WILL SUCK. IT WILL BE A CHEAP CASH GRAB LIKE THE NEW GRINCH MOVIE OR THE EMOJI MOVIE.....but, thank god i was wrong. THANK GOD INDEED. \n\nFirst, the visuals, as in, character designs, animation, colors and atmosphere. GIVE THESE GUYS A BEER, PLEASE! What an amazing job on each and every visual detail. Specially character designs, THE BEST OF THIS MOVIE. My god....MORTICIA LOOKS AS SEXY AS ANGELICA HUSTON, BUT HAS THE VIBE OF CAROLYN JONES ON HER MOVES AND EXPRESSIONS. Gomez....looks like the strips. I really missed julia's accent and tone...but....it was still gomez addams. And then....i watched the movie dubbed in spanish, so, i wont make any comment about english voices....all i wanna know is....HOW DOES SNOOP DOGG SOUND AS COUSIN IT??'I MEAN IT, WTF, MOVIE??? it's cool and all, but....so out of the blue. Amazing. I really wanna hear it. I know it's voice is basically jibberish..but....i wanna hear it. \n\nBack to visuals. Yeah, the palette color is perfect, dark greens, browns and reds for the addams, and cheerful neon colors for the town, amazing and simple way to differentiate both sides of the story. \n\nSTORY....well, this story is no sutile, at all. It literally rubs its message on your face, this is no zootopia, HERE THEY TELL YOU WHAT THE MORALITY IS, ON YOUR FACE, FAIR AND SQUARE, NO CHANCE FOR DOUBT OR HESITATION, it's a movie about prejudice, discrimination and manipulation. Oh yes....it deals with those subjects. Basically, it's “IF YOU ARE DIFFERENT THEN YOU ARE WEIRD AND THEREFORE WE FEAR YOU: the movie” but, luckily, they take a very sarcastic humor route here, think of the simpsons' first seasons (when it was funny and clever instead of...whatever the hell it is now....) the comedy comes from how monty python the jokes are. I won't spoil it. But, yeah....movie is not delicate. And that's where its charm comes from. \n\nLURGE AND THING: you know when you find out a movie about a series you like comes out, and you go “wow, i wish they explore more this or that character, i mean, i wanna know more about them” well...THIS MOVIE DOES THAT WITH LURGE AND THING....we actually get lurge's origin story....kinda...sorta....i am pretty sure it's the same origin as the strips, I MIGHT BE WRONG, but i am kinda sure it is. LURGE IS A CHARACTER IN THIS MOVIE, PART OF THE FAMILY, somethiing not even the 90s movie did. And, i celebrate that. I like it when secondary characters get fleshed out and expanded (unlike what digimon tri did....kill them, turn them into pedophile rapists....or meicoomon....my new term for “it sucks all kinds of ass”) lurge actually ahs one of the best jokes in the movie....hint: he sings.\n\nAs for thing....he wears a smart watch....which gives him eyes....AND BEFORE YOU GO “PRODUCT PLACEMENT” HATING (as if movies were not a business...which they are....so please, cut the hippie crap about movies and product placement already....please) it actually adds to the character, cus now, we have “eyes” that help show more of thing's reactions and emotions, this can be used properly on a sequel. (and yes, can be used properly does not mean it will be used properly.) so, yeah, lurge and thing are....good comedy relief and characters here (i'd say unlike digimon tri....but, that pile of shit never had one single moment of comedy....except leomon in love...and we all know how that ended....fuck you, digimon tri...fuck you in hell....) ANYWAYS....yeah, this movie is fun. \n\n\nIt has only ONE FLAW.....villain's redemption....don't get me wrong, the villain here IS ALL KINDS OF EVIL, TEISTED AND PLAIN MESSED UP PSYCHO. The idea of an psichotic martha stewart like character...is both funny and scary. And, it's done well....you want her to suffer....but....well, she doesn't. I mean.....yeah.....she never gets an actual punishment for her acts, which include illegal demolition and kidnapping ehr own daughter.....so, yeah....villain's character arc....is incomplete, and that, to me, is a capital sin. BUT, IT DOES NOT RUIN THE MOVIE, AT ALL. \n\nTHE ADDAMS FAMILY is a very good movie, for kids and adults, don't expect a zootopia level script, or a hotel transylvania 1 comedy.....this movie ain't aiming there. This movie is for fans of the series. And specially fans of the comic strips, its humor comes directly from them, which might be a little boring for some, but, personally, i loved it. They could have gone the minions or dispicable me route of comedy over plot, but no....they stood honest to the source material.
