THE BEST DISNEY SEQUEL EVER. there, i said it. this movie, is the best disney animated sequel, and, frankly, one of the best sequels to any animated movie, classic or not. but, what makes it so good, on my personal opinion? lemme explain. \n\nART STYLE AND CHARACTER DESIGNS: it's as good as the original movie. usually, disney gives the sequel movies to other studios, in many cases, those studios add their own style to the visuals, sometimes it works (beauty and the beast 2, i love the semi anime looks of the beast and belle, yes, i love those designs, they are cute, and yet have a sort of anime like quality to them, i find pleasing. same as in the hunchback of notre dame 2, i like that look, think of LITTLE NEMO'S ADVENTURE IN SLUMBER LAND movie.) but, with the lion king 2, they kept the same style of the movie, obviously adapted to a home video movie budget. and it super duper mega works. the visual vibe of the original movie is still there. which makes the experience of watching it even more likeable, the animation, fluid and smooth. again, lower budget reduces the quality. but, we must understand that. it's common sense. the color palette, perfect. the tan and gold tones of the simba and kiara moments, contrast with the dark and brownish tones of zira and the \"bad\" lions moments. the color is used properly to convey the tone of the scenes. and i always love that. \n\nSOUNDTRACK: very good, not as good as the original movie, but, the songs are good. \n\nSTORY: the strongest point of this movie, the story is perfectly told, and it achieves what a sequel must achieve, ADDS MORE TO THE ORIGINAL STORY, WITHOUT BEING A REHASH OF THE ORIGINAL STORY. some say the movie is part one, but with kids....HUGE MISTAKE. this movie is its own thing, yes, some elements can be considered similar, but, they are not. kiara and kovu's relationship is perfect, and, i realized that this movie was a rehearsal for zootopia's \"rivals become friends\" setting. the heroes are likeable, kiara IS NOT A MARY SUE OR A LADY IN DISTRESS, BUT NEITHER IS A \"I AM A WOMAN, DONT HELP ME NEVER EVER\" character. kovu is a moody character, but not emo. i'll make it more clear....kovu and kiara are not legosi and haru.\n\nmy favorite character? NUKA. i won't spoil the movie....but....yeah, kovu is a very sad character, a real victim of hatred, a good example of what evil does to one's soul and heart. an amazingly sad story.\n\nZIRA. amazing villain, totally consumed by hatred and revenge, and you can actually feel empathy for her, but ehr actions, yeah....again, no spoilers, but. she is a great character. \n\ntimon and pumba, are there, it ain't bad, THIS IS NOT THEIR MOVIE. so, they are part of the story, but not a huge part of it. i like that, disney could have simply gone \"milk the comedic duo to fill the void of story\" but no, the story does not need them very much. i liked that, I LOVE THOSE TWO. but, this was kiara and kovu's story. not theirs. \n\nthe movie's tone is serious, not dramatic, but serious, is a tragic story of love, it's romeo and juliet, as the original movie was hamlet. and man, it works. again, don't expect a cry me a river drama, but, be prepared for some crying. \n\nis the movie perfect then? well....no. it has one flaw....its pacing. the movie is too fast, the time leash is noticeable. but, it aint something that damages the experience. i simply consider it a little rushed, but, yeah, the sotry and characters are properly set and developed. but, the original movie had a slower and better pacing, again, personal opinion. \n\nI LOVE THIS MOVIE. i absolutely do. should you watch it? if you love the lion king, yes. also....this movie is literally the starting point of THE LION GUARD, and anything related to the lion guard....MUST.
