Shadow shot forwards so fast, Sonic barely had time to register his movement until he was looming over him, holding his chin and making him stare up into his glowing red eyes. Shocked would be an understatement.

"Don't use such a term to describe yourself. You are anything but boring," he growled, pinning him with his glare. "Vanilla comes from orchids and was once used as a high tribute to the Aztec Emperors. If they could smell you the way i do, they would demand you instead of a few orchid pods"

Sonic stared, ears folded back and a hot blush spread across his face. His lips parted as he drew in a breath and Shadow couldn't resist the urge to run his tongue along the softness before sliding his tongue into his mouth.

Sonic let out a little moan as his eyes drifted shut as they shared a soft yet passionate kiss, their tongues licking and tasting each other. When Shadow pulled away, Sonic fluttered his eyes open and gazed up at him. His eyes were foggy and dazed as he licked his own lips. Damn, Shadow just loved seeing him like this...

"No one smells like you Sonic," he purred, wrapping his arms around his waist and pulling him closer. "No one ever has and no one ever will. You smell so delicious, like fresh baked cookies"
Sonic averted his gaze, but he felt the Breeder fully relax in his hold and felt his chest rumble as he purred lightly. He nipped at his ear before burying his face in the crook of his neck and inhaling deeply, his grip on Sonic tightening possessively.

"You and your scent drives me mad Sonic. Like i could just eat you up and still want more," he said with a soft growl forming as he pressed his lips against his cheek then ran them to his lips and nibbled on the bottom lip before sucking it gently. "You smell like my mate"

Shadow ran one hand up his back as the other went to squeeze at his butt. Sonic's ears perked and he slipped out of Shadow's grip and jumped back, putting the coffee table between them as leverage.

"Ok so maybe... just maybe this is something i wouldn't understand fully," Sonic started, keeping his eyes on the other warily. "But i need you to take a few seconds to try and see this from my point of view ok?"

Shadow's first instinct was to completely ignore his request and seduce him until he forgot why he was whining and just turned to mush in his arms. But once he took a step forward, Sonic shifted back, ears folding flat against his head in confusion and fear and he felt his heart tighten.

Is this what it felt like to be in love? Will he have to completely ignore instinct and the laws of nature and physics and mortals and Lycans just so he could get his skittish lover to relax and smile at him again?

This is gonna be quite the adventure if that were the case....

So instead of grabbing him and pulling him into his arms like he wanted to do, he just slowly and carefully walked over to Sonic's side before gently cupping his cheek and running his thumb over Sonic's swollen bottom lip.

"I'm willing to try...." he started, keeping his voice as soft and even as possible, "if you are willing to explain it to me"

Sonic flicked on ear up as he stared at the Lycan warily. Wow, he must've came off as a steamroller with a dick if he held so little trust towards him. Hmm... and over something so simple....

Sonic was quiet for the longest time and Shadow was getting a bit impatient but he shoved it away and waited... And waited.

Then finally, Sonic sighed and looked away. "I don't think you'd understand...."

Shadow blinked then grinned. "Oh? Now where have i heard that before?" he teased, his thumb tapping and rubbing along Sonic's lips.

Sonic moved to bite his thumb off but Shadow anticipated this and moved his hand just in time. "I mean... I don't think you can put yourself in my shoes. We're so different from each other."

Shadow raised and eyebrow then started playing with Sonic's ears. He would  probably look adorable with emerald earring fastened there... "Being so different is what makes us fit together so perfectly."

"Hey, we aren't talking Tab A and Slot B here," he frowned, ears starting to twitch in irritation and to get them away from Shadow's hands. "You're... stronger then me. Like not even like a normal dude would be, but i mean way stronger then me. You could probably snap me in half with little to no effort. Or break any one of my bones by staring at it hard enough"

"You're afraid i'll hurt you?"

"Absolutely horrified" Well that was painful to hear... "...But not that you'd break one of my bones..."

Sonic fell silent and Shadow waited for a while before placing his hands on his shoulders and squeezing gently. "Tell me what you're afraid of Sonic"

Sonic glanced up at him before he looked down at the feet and started fidgeting nervously.

"I'm not like you ok?... And i don't mean as in 'I'm not a Lycan' i'm sure you got that by now. But i mean... i'm not like all the other's you've been with... I'm not..." He frowned and took a breath to stop himself from stuttering. "They were all beautiful. You're beautiful"

Shadow tilted his head, trying to see Sonic's face before he cupped his chin and brought his head up. He didn't quite understand...

"I'm plain... Awkward and boring and shy and-" he could feel the tears streaming but he couldn't get them to stop. "And i don't know anything about sex or men or-"

Shadow claimed his lips in a deep kiss to silence his little nonsensical rant. He pushed his tongue into Sonic's mouth to brush against the other and didn't release him until he felt him go slack in his arms.

"Sonic Maurice Hedgehog," he sighed, his voice deep and dark and laced with desire. "I don't know whether to slap you upside the head or bend you over and prove exactly how beautiful, sexy and admiring you are"

Sonic stared with wide eyes before Shadow's chuckle snapped him out of his haze. The Lycan snuggled and rested his head on top of Sonic's prickly quills before sighing.

"I hope these ridiculous notions of yours isn't the reason you think we can't be mates"

"What gives you the right to call my notions ridiculous," he said deadpanned, struggling in his grasp until he released him once again.

"Well how about logic"

"What."

"Darling, i don't know what kind of stories you've been hearing about me from Jet or Wave... But if they made you think that i'm such a horny asshole that i can't tell the different between beautiful and ugly or a fling and a lifetime, then i need to chew them both out"

"They never said anything like that... Not exactly"

"Then what did they say"

Sonic sighed. "It's not like its a secret that you are the biggest playboy in the Supernatural world"

"But that's just it, sweetheart~" he purred taking his hand and kissing it. "That was before i met you. Now i'm not playing anymore."

Sonic took his hand back and willed his blush away. "Yes, that is just it. You don't seem to understand that i might question how a man such as yourself who has spent most of his adult life chasing and catching some of the most beautiful creatures in Station Square could have possible fallen in passionate, head over heels, fated to be together love with someone like me!"

'Hmm... it sounds like we're speaking the same language.... and i can understand the words but something about the way he said them just doesn't seem comprehensible....'

"You make it sound like that's impossible"

"That's because it is!"

"Not for a Lycan"

"For anyone who has grown past believing in fairy tales!"

Probably not the best time to bring up that Fairies do indeed exist... Or that have a whole monarch among them.

Shadow pouted. "I'm starting to think this has little to do with us being different species... and more to do with those little monsters in your head that keeps making you over analyze everything"

Sonic rolled his eyes and took a step back to put some space between them before putting his hands on his own hips. "It's not really hard.... Especially considering you never took the time to out right tell me how you feel about me"

"Except that i did? And that's how we got into this ridiculous situation in the first place"

Sonic held up 2 fingers. "One, it's not ridiculous and two, this started because you told me i was your mate not because you told me how you feel about me"

Shadow's brows pinched together as he went back over the last few minutes in his head before he gave Sonic an impassive stare.

Shit, he was right.

He really hasn't told Sonic how he felt about him. Then again, he only just realized his own feelings a few minutes ago... But he was pretty sure that excuse wouldn't hold much water with him.

Would Sonic even believe him if he just out right told him the truth?

Jeez, why did mortals have to be so confusing....

He took a deep breath before he started trying to think like a mortal. And then afterward he was gonna treat himself to a huge glass of whiskey.

The mortals were odd creatures at best. They liked writing books and making movies about 'love at first sight' or what the Lycans called 'mating' but the actual belief in the concept just got you a slap in the face. So the could fantasize about it but actually experiencing it was impossible in their eyes. So if he did just tell him, would that reassure him? Or send him running even faster?

Could he take that chance of him running away?...

Shadow ran a hand down his own face before he started the attempt.

"I feel a lot of things about you," he said watching Sonic carefully. He was tense and his quills were raised in self defense, his face void of emotion. Besides the glare. "Some of them i haven't quite figured out while other i have. I know that you interest me. And you make me happy and smile and laugh and hard to the point that it gets physically painful"

Sonic's glare softened slightly and one shoulder relaxed before the other one followed. Ok, he was calming down... Good.

"I have honestly enjoyed every second i've spent with you... And i would like to spend a lot more time with you. Minutes, hours, days, months even. I know i have been trying to think up reasons for you not to leave on Monday.... Because once you leave, i know i won't be nearly as happy as i am having you here, with me right now"

Shadow's words came straight from his heart. And even though there were a few more words he'd like to say, he knew he should probably save those for a special occasion.

Sonic's ears were perked towards him, his eyes relaxed and glowing with hope and warmth and yet so many doubts....

Sonic just sighed and gave him a lazy smile before running a hand through his own, now softened, quills and Shadow had to fight not to say the last 3 words.

"Well.... we have a few more hours before i have to go.... And we can be happy for those," he held his hand out as his smile turned into an adorable grin. "Maybe if you're persuasive enough, i'll come back for dinner on Monday night"

That grin was enough to make Shadow's heart skip a beat. He gripped on Sonic's hand and pulled him closer gently.

"Oh... well if i'm really, really persuasive, will you come back with a suitcase?~" he purred, licking the side of his head.

Sonic placed a hand on his head and pushed him back gently and playfully "Heh, you can try.
