"writing": "NO MORE SUNNY DAYS\n\nCHAPTER II\n\nMadge pulled a chair away from the table and tapped the seat with her hand. “Hop on up, Radiance. Let’s get some breakfast in you… how’s a glass of orange juice and some Zippy Bang Poppers sound?”\n\nSunny wiped the tears from her eyes and looked over at the box of cereal, her brother’s personal favorite. She normally liked it too, but at the moment she wasn’t in the mood for sugary, brightly colored puffs. She motioned over to the cupboard. “The juice is fine, but can I have some Oat Crisp’ns?”\n\nMadge winced. That was her favorite cereal, and one shake of the box made it clear there was only enough left for one bowl. “Er… I don’t think you’d really like it, honey. That’s more of an adult cereal.” Sunny cocked an eyebrow. “But I am getting older, right? I’m almost six now… you said so yourself! And if I’ve got to give up the stuff I liked when I was a baby, I think I should get some of the stuff adults get to have.”\n\nSunny wasn’t wrong. She deserved every last bite. “Okay, okay… you win.” Madge shook what was left in her daughter’s bowl and added a splash of milk. “Now if you don’t like it, just let me know and I’ll, uh, take care of it for you.” \n\nMadge felt a drop of saliva dribble from the edge of her mouth as she watched Sunny dig in. “Hey, this is really good!” Madge sighed as she dumped the empty box into the garbage and reached into the cupboard for one of the diet bars she kept around for when she needed to drop a few pounds. “Yeah, I know.” She peeled open the wrapper, then tore off a chunk of the bar with her teeth, morosely chewing the thick, gooey concoction. It had even less flavor than she remembered, if that were possible. Sunny wasn’t the only one making sacrifices today.\n\n“All done!,” Sunny triumphantly shouted, pushing the bowl away from her and leaping out of her chair. “Now let’s go… I can’t wait for that present!” Madge gulped down the last of her diet bar with a hard swallow and cleared her throat. “Hold on just a second! We’re not going anywhere until…”\n\nSunny’s shoulders sunk. “You mean… that?”\n\n“Yes, that. Don’t worry, I’ll help you until you get the hang of it.” Madge gently took her daughter by the hand and led her to the bathroom, swinging open the door and gently closing it behind her.\n\nRings called out from the kitchen, “When are we leeeeeaving?”\n\nMadge barked back, “When we’re ready! Now go play until we’re done.”\n\nBarely audible mumbling trailed off from the kitchen to the living room. Something about stupid sisters and handing out prizes for pooping.\n\nSunny looked at the toilet with open contempt. “My old enemy,” she thought, “we meet again.” It wasn’t the first time her mother had tried to train her- not by a long shot- but she knew this was going to be the last. The hand of fate had finally caught her, and there was no escape from its grip.\n\nMadge grabbed the little raccoon around the waist and tugged down her panties. “First, we’ll need to take off your clothes.” Sunny looked down at her underwear, now loosely hanging around her ankles. She felt more grown up, yet more vulnerable than she ever had during a diaper change. She didn’t want to do this. She didn’t even know if she could. Sunny held back a tear as her mother lifted her from the floor and set her on the toilet, taking care to drape her tail over the edge of the seat.\n\n“Okay, now push.”\n\n“Push what?” Sunny poked at the toilet paper dispenser.\n\n“Down there, where the poop comes out.”\n\nSunny tightly pinched her eyes together and gritted her teeth. “Is there any way to make this easier…?”\n\nMadge shrugged. “I could turn on the faucet for you if you’d like.”\n\nSunny looked up quizzically at her mother. “What’s that going to do?”\n\nMadge cranked the knob on the faucet and stepped back, a grin spreading on her face. “You’re about to find out.”\n\nThe room filled with the sound of the forceful cascade of water blasting forth from the sink. Sunny gazed up at the ceiling, still not sure what it would accomplish. However, with each passing second, the rush of water became louder and louder, soon drowning out everything else in the room, the house, the world. Sunny had entered a state of potty training zen… and with almost no effort, she had become one with the water.\n\nMadge scrambled for the faucet’s knob and listened carefully for the trickle coming from her daughter. “You’re doing it! You’re really doing it!” Sunny looked up at her mother, wearing a tentative smile. “I really am, aren’t I? But wait… I think something else is happening!”\n\nThe little raccoon bit her lip and grunted. A single splash came from within the toilet, and Madge pumped her arm in raucous celebration.\n\n“Did I…?”\n\n“You did!”\n\n“…can I see it?”\n\nMadge lifted her daughter from the seat and set her in front of the toilet to admire the pungent fruit of her labor. “Isn’t it better to have it in there, rather than all over your butt?” \n\nAs the cub peered into the waters below, Madge gently lifted her tail and swiped a handful of paper through her cheeks. “Yeah, but… HEY! What are you doing?”\n\n“Just cleaning you up. Hold still, I’m almost finished.”\n\nSunny looked over her shoulder with an equal measure of puzzlement and annoyance. “If you’re going to wipe me, why did I have to stop wearing diapers?”\n\n“There’s a lot less to wipe. I’ll show you how to take care of that yourself in a couple of days, but for now, this is a very good start. I’m proud of you, my little ray of sunshine.”\n\nSunny blushed. “You think Daddy will be proud of me, too?”\n\nMadge knew her daughter could sniff out a lie from a mile away, so she offered all the honest assurance she could. “He should be.”\n\nHe’d better be, the louse.\n\n",
