Hennery and henry were down in BeachSide visiting Steven. Julia and David were rejoicing in the glorious news of Julia’s pregnancy and engagement. And Michael was busy cooking his famous spaghetti while Jim set the table. The house was peaceful as the smell of pasta sauce filled the air making everyone’s tummy's rumble. “Is it almost ready Honey?” Jim called out eagerly. “Almost!” Michael called back “Just draining the noodles now” “Yay!” Jim and David cheered as the Buck came in Michael drained the noodles in the strainer then using his tongs he portioned out the noodles out on each plate but left some in the strainer knowing there’d be requests for seconds. After that he went to check on the pasta and meat. The wolf took a taste and smacked his muzzle and tongue. He gave it a quick final stir before turning off the stove and going to grab his plate before calling out. “Alright everyone! Come and get it!” As Michael served himself he saw Julia and David File in and Jim was right behind him wagging eagerly. Once he got a healthy serving he went into the dinning room and sat at his spot at the table, He waited for everyone to come in and have a seat before dinning. He didn’t have long to wait. Jim Julia soon filed out and took there seats with a plate full of spaghetti. As he started to dig in Jim took a bite, a sudden pain struck his chest, and his eyes widen suddenly. The Hyena let out a yelp of pain and gasped clutching his chest. That got everyones attention. Michael Prank from his chair and ran over to him.”Jim! JIM!” “H-Heart…Ambulance…Hurry” Jim panted out before Passing out. David got on the phone to 911 and called for medical support while Julia started performing CPR like she seen on TV. Michael stood there frozen in shock as the paramedics arrived and got him on a stretcher. Michael followed them “I’m going with him, follow behind in my truck and call everyone” Julia nodded and grabbed Michael’s keys and tossed them to David while she grabbed her phone. Her and David jumped in and she called JJ first. “Hey sis” JJ said “Bubba Get to the hospital on the Double, Dad just had a heart attack” She said Frantically! “What?!” JJ screamed. “Dad had a heart attack mom’s en rout to the hospital in the ambulance with him.” Julia explained “David and I are on our way now” “Fern watch the kids I gotta go to the hospital dad had a heart attack” He said in the background “I’m on my way Call Henry and uncle Eric in BeachSide” “On it I’ll see you soon” Julia said hurriedly. They hung up and Julia called Henry. Hoping he’d answer. Luckily he did. “Hey Julia” he said happily “Henry, you and little brother need to cut your trip short, Dad just had a heart attack and is on the way to the hospital” “HENNERY GET DRESSED WE HAVE TO LEAVE NOW” he yelled “We’ll be up as quick and safe as possible” And he hung up. Julia looked up and recognized the street they were at. She knew they were almost there and got on the phone again calling her grandma. After ring five she answered “Hello Dear” “Gran, I know it’s late but you and Eric need to come up here, Daddy just had a heart attack and is on his way to the hospital” “Oh No!” She gasped. “It’s a little late for me or Eric to be driving that far, but we will be there in the morning ok?” “Ok Grandma.” She said calmly “Would you like me to call with a status update when we get there, my Fiance and I are almost there” “Yes please dear” Gran said just as calm “congrats on your engagement” “Thanks Gran” she nodded “bye bye for now” “Bye bye for now” Julia hung up and gasped. David remained focused on the the road and they soon arrived at the hospital and they See JJ’s car pull in. David parked and locked the truck and Julia ran over to JJ and the two ran inside to see Michael in the Lobby. They came up to him with looks of concern and dread. “Tim took him back he hasn’t updated me yet” Michael said quickly “Hennery bear and lil man are on there way, Gran says it’s best they come up in the morning, but I’ll call her when we know more” Julia explained. “I was about to put the twins to bed when I got the call. Fern said he’s on standby if I need him Michael nodded. And sat down holding himself, in his head he prayed to the powers that be that he survived. The three waited and waited for at least an hour and a half before the door opened and a familiar looking lion cam through. The four stood up looking worried before Tim spoke. “He’s alive but I’m afraid the heart attack was severe enough to put him in a comatose state” The color drained from Michael’s face at the word comatose. “Will he wake up eventually?” JJ asked almost pleading. Tim Frowned “I cannot be certain in this matter unfortunately” The lion doctor said “But knowing what hes been through already I think he has a chance” “C-could we go back and s-see him?” Michael sniffed. Tim nodded “I’ll take you back in a few minuets in case you need to make a few calls?” “I can go back now” Michael said. “I’ll go with you momma” David said before turning to Julia “You might wanna call your grandma and Eric and update them, Signals normally trash in back” Julia Nodded “I’ll call Fern,,,something tells me I’ll need him” JJ sighed sadly Tim Nodded and agreed to come collect them when the rest arrive. Michael and David followed Tim to the ICU. Once inside they came into a a small room and Michael covered his muzzle at the sight. Jim was hooked up to oxygen and other life saving and monitoring machines as he lied there motionless looking rather peaceful as if he were fast asleep, Michael made his way over to the empty chair by his bedside in a state of shock and sadness. He took a seat and placed his paws on Jim’s arm and held him as tears started to form in his eye’s. The wolf squeezed his paw hoping for some form of response, but nothing. “J-Jimmy” Michael said shaking and sadly “Y-your Mikey is here… You can w-wake up now p-please?” David watched this with a sad look on his face his hand covered his mouth to mask the shock on his face He slowly made his way in and made his way to the other side of Jim and held his other paw and said softly “You can’t go now. I want you to walk Julia down the aisle at our wedding, She wants you to also” Michael looked up at David and reached a paw over to hold his. “Y-you hear that honey” Michael said to Jim “We need you” The two hardly noticed Tim’s disappearance. He returned twenty minuets later accompanied by Julia JJ and Fern. David saw them and gave up his spot for his fiance and future brother-in-law JJ. Both of which looked like there whole world just crashed all around them. JJ came over first tears flowing out of his eyes like his mom. Julia was equally as sad but kept it together mostly. “I-I called Gran and told her and Eric” Julia said “They’ll be here early tomorrow” “W-what about Henry and lil man?” Michael asked. “They’re on there way they’re taking a few shortcuts dad didn’t normally take” Julia explained. Tim was listening in on the conversation and piped up. “Two more coming in?” he asked. They all nodded. “Well Hospital policy is only 4 allowed to visit at a time” Tim put his paws in his pant pockets “Seeing as it’s all family though and I’m here till 1am I’ll put word in at the nurses station to allow special rules in this case” “Thanks Dr. Tim” Julia said. The lion nodded “I only ask that after 10pm the noise levels stay at 1 or 2 at most. I can only bend so many rules before higher-ups get involved and stuff” Michael nodded understandingly. Before Tim could leave though he looked at Julia. “Miss could I borrow you for a moment?” Tim asked. Julia nodded and went over to Tim and led her just out of the room. “What’s wrong?” She asked. Tim looked at her. “I know this is a hard time, but I wanted to ask you something. Is it true what I read that you started CPR right after the attack happened?” “I did yeah” Julia nodded “Dad said heart and call for help and I started doing what I saw on TV a few times till the paramedics came” “I see” Tim nodded “Well,,,again I know this isn’t really the time to discuss it, but I wanted to know if you ever considered a career as a nurse or a doctor?” “Why?” Julia asked “Well…” Tim said “ A few years ago you took appropriate steps to ensure your dad didn’t belled out before coming here and he pulled through. And once again you responded correctly and gave us valuable time that’s lost in transit, The reason I’m giving him a chance of waking up sooner then most is because of you being on top of making sure he arrived to us with a beating heart” Julia’s eyes widened at Tim’s words. “I…I never considered it really” Julia said “But if you think I got the abilities to make it I could give it a try” “I honestly do” Tim said. “We need more good nurses here anyway” “I’ll consider it” She said “But after my baby is born, I found out earlier that I’m expecting” Tim’s eyes widened and he smiled. “Congratulations on that” Tim nodded “I’ll talk to Brienda about seeing you for questions tomorrow but for now go be with your family okay?” “Okay” she nodded and made her way back inside in a dream like state. JJ was sitting in a char next to Jim and apparently a third chair had appeared while Julia was having her talk. She made her way over and sat down looking at her dad still sad he was like this, But Tim’s words gave her a glint of hope That he would be alright. She reached out and held his paw and stroked it with a finger. “Daddy It’s me Julie” Julia said referring to her childhood nickname “Tim told me I brought you back with CPR…” everyone gasped “He lso told me I soukd consider a career in medicine and become a nurse…That I’d be great at it and I want you to be awake to see that…Please daddy?” JJ placed a paw on her lap and smiled very teary eyed. “You…would make one fine nurse Sis” JJ said Everyone nodded in agreement including Michael who was still staring at his husband lost for words. Time marched on as the small group kept encouraging Jim to wake up. Hennery and Henry were still an hour away and it was approaching the quiet time Tim mentioned. Around that time though a female koala nurse came in. “Excuse me, only family’s allowed to stay here” “We are family” JJ said “I’m his son JJ, my sister Julia and my mom Michael” “Your Mother?” she raised an eye “You must be mistaken men can’t have Babies.” Michael began to growl a little bit no believing she was hearing this. JJ kept trying to defuse this. “My mom is Transgender. He had me my sister and my little brother when he still had female parts.” He explained trying to stay calm The nurse’s jaw dropped then looked around noticing David and Fern. “Well who are they?” she asked “The deer is David, he’s my sisters fiance and father to her baby to be and this handsome mouse is Fern my husband” The nurse looked as though she was looking at a disgusting piece of meat. “Homosexuality is a sin…I’m calling security…I refuse to help your husband I hope the gods cast him to hell ” She said madly and left. “The hell she will” Fern said moving toward the Door “I’m going to find Tim” The mouse left the room and went to the nurses station. Luckily the koala had not returned. He asked for doctor Tim nd they said they would page him. Sure enough 5 minuets later the door opened and Tim came strutting over and Fern met him half way. “Everything alright? What’s going on with Jim?” “It’s not Jim” Fern said “walk with me real quick?” “Sure?” Tim nodded Fern explained what had just transpired with the female koala nurse and her bigoted words towards everyone. Tim gasped “Melisa…” Tim groaned running a paw down his face “She really said that?“ “She did” Fern said “I may be no expert on medical law but isn’t that illegal?” “It is” Tim nodded “When we enter the practice of nursing and doctoring we take a oath and we are required by laws to provide health no matter what species, gender or sexual preference.” “I thought so” Fern nodded “There anything you can do?” “I write her up” Tim said “there’s a camera in that room it should be enough to terminate her practice here” “Thanks Tim” Fern Smiled “Oh um asking this early, is there any way Michael can get a bed so he can stay by Jims side?” “I’ll see what I can do” Tim nodded and headed off Fern smiled and made his way back to Jim’s room. As he made his way back in he saw both henry and lil Hennery had arrived finally. Hennery was curled up next to Jim teary eyed and sobbing quietly. He came over and cleared his throat softly. “I talked to Tim, that nurse won’t bother us anymore” “That’s good” JJ said softly. “Oh and Michael?” Fern said softly. “I asked about a bed for you incase you wanted to stay here tonight?” Michael looked over at fern and gave a small smile “Thank you” he said softly “We got back as safe, fast and legally as we could” Henry explained. “I couldn’t believe it” “Neither could I” Fern nodded. “We just put Corey and James to sleep and were about to watch a movie with rose. And I had to call my parents to cub sit” “We were about to have mom’s spaghetti and meat balls before this happened” Julia said just as her tummy rumbled. “Your parents ok with watching them for the night?” Henry asked. Fern nodded “I told them what was going on and they understood” JJ gave a little whimper remembering the multiple servings of Michael’s spaghetti he used to savor. Suddenly the realization sank in that a majority of the room hadn’t had a full meal that evening. As predicted Michael said he would stay overnight. When Tim came by with a bed, everyone but Michael made there way for home. JJ fern and the two Hennery’s followed Julia and David. There was a quiet sadness as they all made there way inside, Hennery scampered off to his bedroom and closed the door. Julia made her way into the kitchen and started re-heating dinner with Davids help. And JJ fern and Henry sat in the living room beside themselves. Henry and JJ stayed close by one another and held each other’s paw while Fern pet the wolfs back. By the time everyone had a chance to eat it was already approaching midnight. David and Fern did the dishes while Henry JJ and Julia discussed plans for the morning. “We’re going there early” JJ said. “Mom’s going to need us there” “I agree bubba” Julia said “but I told Gran and uncle Eric to come by here first so we could all go together” “What time are they arriving?” JJ asked. Julia took out her phone and checked her messages “She said they’d be on the road before 5 so with no traffic I’d say around 8?” “It’d be a good Idea to wait for them JJ” Henry said “They might not know the area well and could probably use our help getting there so we don’t have to take so many vehicles at once” “That sounds fair” JJ nodded and sighed sadly “I’m just so worried. What if dad doesn’t pull through how is mom handling this? I don’t wanna loose him either “Non of us do bubba” Julia said hugging JJ close with a few tears in her eyes “We gotta be strong for both of them” Henry joined in the hug too. JJ and Julia wrapped an arm around him as well. After a bit Henry said his good nights and went up to his room. JJ Fern Julia and David decided to do the same. Fern and JJ took the main bedroom. Julia and david went into her room and began stripping down and crawled into bed. As they got covered they heard a small knock. “Sis could I come in?”It was Hennery. “Come in” She called. Hennery opened the door and looked like he’d been crying a lot, the young eyes were full of tears as he closed the door and came over to them shaking. Julia not caring how naked she was uncovered herself and picked her baby brother up and put him in her lap and held him close. “It’s ok big sisters here” she said softly “I want daddy” Hennery whimpered Julia’s ears folded back as she pet him. “I do too” Julia said “We’ll get him aback” Hennery sniffed and hugged Julia tight. “I don;t want to lose him and you too” He said muffled in her chest. Julia blinked and looked at Hennery curiously. “What do you mean loose me?” she asked “W-well, y-you and D-david are graduated from school now” he said choked up. “We are” Julia nodded “But what does that have to do with you loosing me?” “It means you’ll be moving out soon…that..you’ll have to get jobs n’ stuff and I won’t see you as much as I used too…I love you and big bubba but I miss him lots and don’t get to see him much. Now it’ll be the same with you and David and I don’t wanna miss my big sis too” Julia’s eyes were starting to fill with tears hearing that, even David was a little misty eyed as well. Julia had no Idea her little brother felt that way. She put herself in his position and realized how hard it is for Hennery to have two older adult siblings now. Three if you count Henry. She had no Idea Hennery felt that lonely and it broke her heart to hear it. Julia was going to have a word with JJ about this in the morning but right now her baby brother needs her. “You’re going to sleep with us tonight, but I want you to listen to me?” Julia said softly. “Okay” he whimpered wiping his nose. “You’re not going to lose me ok? It’s true that David and I will eventually move out, but that won;t be for a while. Did you here the news actually” “What news?” He asked looking at her curiously “I’m pregnant” She smiled. “And I’m considering going to college to become a nurse.” Hennery’s eyes widened as he looked down at her tummy and back up at her. “For real?” He asled “For real” David and Julia said together. “That means I’m going to need your help watching the baby and making sure he’s taken care of while Juila studies and is at school” David said “That’s right and While we’re at work we’ll need you to cubsit” Julia said. “Okay” Hennery said cheering up on;y a little “And remember” Julia smiled at him “I may be you big sister but I love you and will always be there for you” She leaned over and gave hennery a deep loving kiss which he happily returned.Once the tears were wiped away Hennery crawled in the middle of them and snuggled up close to his big sister and smiled as the three finally fell asleep. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t | \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
