Why? Slave away. Survive as the world becomes more and more meaningless. Why? Yue saw only a blank canvas. The status quo at an all time high. Not enough food. Dehydrating in an ocean of water. Gary looked down in horror at the river of papers. Each page scrambled along the ocean of name-stained contracts. Yet Yue's eyes reflected merely the haze. With her lips quivering before their lifelessness. letting out a silent cry as she soaked the pool in her misery. Yet all the while she alone stuck around to pick them up. And, one by one, letter after painstaking letter, she scrawled the same one word again and again. Almost like a machine, stabbing her pen into the paper and splaying its black blood all across the orderly emptiness. Any star now an inky black space. "I have to let you off." The turgid lights flickered endlessly. Gnawing away at her sanity with the continuous buzz. "What?" "I said, you're fired." The sun, mocking and merciless, taunted the room nonstop. Sparing no quarter to her pale skin. It enjoyed pointing out the putrid scent coming off of the shacked dog. Yue wasn't one to explode. Nonetheless, she clenched her hand into a fistful of balled up rage. Why? Why? Who gave a damn about the shitty pay? So what if she was treated like garbage? Why the hell was she the one to get fired? It just didn't make sense! But nothing came out. Before anything happened, she let go. Like everything else in her life. Her rage vanished. Lost to the wind. Icy air lashed and kicked her on her way out, leaving her in a shadow of the burning pillar ruling above all. It wasn't supposed to go like this. She was supposed to be working; slaving away at the frontlines. She should be at the desk right now, scribbling over and over until her arm felt numb and then some. That was her place. To change now was impossible. She did everything: she worked the desk, she stayed overnight to get the job done, she picked up the slack when the rest couldn't, she took over for Gary when his drugatic of a disappointment died and he could barely stand, SHE wrote her resignation. So why? Weren't good dogs supposed to be put down? And, as a final middle finger, Garry, walking over to the girl which stood in the middle of the hall without reason or purpose, bumped into a table while attempting to get by, consequently spilling a piping hot cup of joe on her bare leg. Sinking its teeth into her flesh. But Yue, too lost in her despair, could not even give the effort to scream right; it came out more like a goat squeal at the pain forcing her to her knees. Needless to say adding to the searing pain bubbling up in her skin and leaving a blister in its wake. "Oh my god Yue! I'm so sorry!" The girl looked up with a new nothingness in her eyes far more empty than the last. "Why do you get to stay?" It hurt. After years and years of what could only be described as torture, the most painful part was when it ended? Why? With all the days in a year, it must've been a curse for today to be the one it snows. Of course, she was still in the same tee she'd been wearing since the start of summer. It seemed like the entire world loved to take advantage of her. Shown by her monochrome car; it wheezed for nutrients, squealing to her as the heating smoked up with a poof. Didn't take long for the frigid air to break in, causing each breath to escape as a cloud of fog from her hollow body. Money, always hungry for more money. Yue cut between white trucks and black cars on the interstate, not taking a second to look at the hazed yellow lines. It was all white as snow to her. Without the needed fuel, the car eventually became useless, it coughed out for the last of its life before dying, thankfully right next to her cubicle. It'd been so long. Stepping out the car she thought of how she wished to drop dead right now. How soft would it be, to sleep in a heap of it, would she wake up surrounded by warmth? Or her own puddle? Was this real, did she really get fired? Like an annoying sibling, this house dangled bad memories over her head every time she visited. But even if she hadn't been here for months, to let it go was impossible. It was like a collar tied around her throat, choking her every chance it got. Though, she couldn't complain since she still paid for the place. The door creaked open eagerly for Yue, showing the fruits of her labor over the years; an empty prison. There was no furniture so to say, but a stiff, white mattress, stained with the occasional grey splatter. It was the only thing she had been used to. The only thing left of hers. Everything else? Who knew. Though, with how dark it was, not even that looked apparent through the shouded, black mist. Yue slouched to the floor, not even giving the effort to turn on a light. Just sitting right where she believed to be a bed. Eyes completely open. A prolonged, monotone wheeze. Why did she feel so empty? On her bed, so lost, so isolated from everyone else. Didn't she want this? The word comfort was alien to Yue. The difference between lying down on a bed and sleeping whilst sitting up on a wooden chair never crossed her mind. But she did have to admit that her bed felt different from before. Was it always so silky? So cushiony. It smelt so nice, like the rainforest. And was it always so… warm? It was alien. Perhaps work was getting to her. Like her mother. That thought forced her eyes shut. No more. With the door left wide open Yue slowly faded out of consciousness. Her breath cold and empty. Without the will to keep going she found no reason to close the door. -------- "Why have ears if we cannot hear the music? Why see if not at a vibrant painting of the sun? If not to dance, then why run?" These were the words Kyusei lived by. Throughout their entire life, not once did he stray, unwavering, unaltering, like a statue. Never one to follow suit. Always pursuing the truth. He never looked at things like he was supposed to. Kyusei jumped out of bed with a pep in his step. Today was the day! Starting with a bang like most days, Kyusei skipped over to the shower where he would apply his favorite shampoo all over his charcoal fluff. Always having a swell time scrubbing between his perky ears, and over his pointy nozzle. Then swiping his tail over to take a quick whiff. One of his favorite parts about bathing was the smell. It had this tropical scent, like a rainforest, so tenderly tickling his nose he'd sometimes get the feeling that the shampoo was swapped with heaven itself liquified. Such a rejuvenating fragrance could only be. Once he got done tossing water in the tub he'd dry himself off with one of the many features of his showerhead: a full-blown air drying system! Never did it fail to sweep his drowsiness away in its blast. And lastly but most certainly not least, his handy one and only: the object which rested in his hands. With a handle so smooth to the touch one would mistake the rich, golden wood for literal gold. A head of millions of tiny, little bristles so eager to play with Kyusei's tangled fluff until they get all tuckered out and straightened. Kyusei looked up to see the good-smelling, straight, handsome, young chap before him winking in the mirror. Reflecting the clock behind him and bringing the man jumping to his feet. "Oh gosh! I gotta go!" He glided past the living room fireplace and out the handled door, not giving the time to lock before dashing across the snowy plains. He always loved how the glittering ice crunched under his paws. Never would it get boring to feel the cusioning under his bare feet. Even if it's a little on the colder side. The tingly chill caressing his spine with each graze of his plump pads soothed the soul. If only someone else could relate to this thrill. Along his mad dash to work, one of his good friends caught him, "Heya Kyusei!" His friend spoke with a voice as squeaky as a toy! "Oh! Morning Tasu!" Kyusei swiftly waved. "You… uh… leave today, right?" The saddened expression Tasu made reflected in Kyusei's cloudy eyes. Obviously she had something to say. And never being one to stray from the truth, Kyusei blurted out, "Look, I know. You're worried. But I can assure you I will be fine." She staggered back, seeming slightly relieved by her friend's trustworthy words. But, there was something brewing, the worst of the worst always happened with Kyusei. How did he know today would be any different? "You should really get your ethereal affixed!" A reverent silence dropped between the two. She still believed those silly things? Ethereals affixation was for the lost; people not too sure where to go. Not Kyusei, for him, ethereals were like a cheat code, there was no reason to play on hard mode if he would just cheat through it. But he understood that Tasu only wanted the best for him. It was just too bad that he would never waiver. "I'm sorry Tasu… but that won't happen." Her face carried that worried expression for a while in the silence before dropping and switching to a smirk. "Yeah… I expected as much." The fields fell silent again before adding, "I guess I'll see you soon. Right?" Kyusei didn't want to make his friend worry so much, it was nice that she did. But that bad energy could kill. The deep blue fog around her was evidence of just how worried she felt. So there was only one way to fix it. Act like he usually did, despite his own fears. "You bet I will!" He smirked, waving his tail as he ran for the hills. As much as he wanted to, Kyusei was in too big of a rush to hug that short, blue ball of bashfulness. Nonetheless, another reason to get back home alive. They seemed to be piling by the minute. To admit the fear of death was to admit of taboo at the highest degree. Breaking such rules would prove that Kyusei had not lived his life to the maximum; that was one of the many rules he set for himself. The rest of the dash ended swiftly with him standing before a metal door. His paw grazed the rusted handle. And with a big huff, clouding the view in front of him, he stole his resolve and kicked it open, marching through the long corridor, the only sound being the pitter patter as he stepped over to her. The feline echoed her strawberry-milk fluff in his paw pads, "Kyusei! You're late. Are you ready?" He stared down, looking at the cracked tile floor and going back up to meet her twinkling eyes, "Y-Yeah, I'm ready." "Alrighty! And remember, you're doing this world a favor right now, don't forget how important this is." Her paws wrapped around his shoulders, "And… stay alive." With a nod of his head and a wag of his tail he sped off to the displacement device. It was finally done after years and years of experimenting and countless hours of theories, they'd finally come up with the genius; a way to find new life. In a nutshell, it used a scanner across the vast galaxy to find tiny signs of movement, changes in planet air currents, sound waves, and planets with oxygen. Initially, the last part was to be taken out, but the team figured it would be too difficult to invade a planet without the proper living conditions everyone else had. So they stuck to this for now. Next came the second part; it was a mistake, crafted from a failed attempt to steal one's ethereal. Apparently, such possibilities were not. Taking one's ethereal was such as taking one's soul, it would not so easily land into the hands of anyone. But with this failed experiment came so many advances never known to the world; people could now preserve their ethereal! Lending their powers to the more needy. Or, in this scenario, transfer their DNA from one planet to another via light waves. Of course, light isn't instant speed, in fact, light is the limit of speed. So how do they pass the galaxy in a timely manner? By simply spreading their ethereal through the light passages, they could actively spread like a virus through the cosmos's system, linking through one end of light to another. The initial thought was that. But years and years passed, no one could think of a better way. The waves of light might easily take them to the destination as they could spirit them away to another, no person had the brain power to comprehend everything fast enough to prevent that. Then, something hit the group; something so simple, so common, that it easily wisped by them all. Darkness. Darkness has no speed but is a lack thereof. If light is lacking then it is filled with darkness instantly. So they figured it out! By simply shining a bright light and waiting for a couple of years, with their many years of technological advancements over the years, using something called destructive interference to manipulate the light, they could turn someone into the darkness that falls behind light. In simple terms: one small flicker of a light is all they needed to make the infinite cosmos a galactic subway! Sure it took years to do, and one mishap could cause the whole process to restart, but for now it was a solution. At the end of the light the person would turn back into their original form with ease. The chip had been surgically planted into Kyusei's left shoulder. One flicker is all he needed. "Ready?" Kyusei nodded. "I've been ready." The feline gave off a soft chuckle, "Please try to keep this professional." "Ha– I will never apologize for being loud!" Kyusei zipped his tail high up, bent one knee to the ground, planted his right paw on the floor and his other in the sky, his eyes solely focused on the lopsided slab before him. Nothing could slap him out of the trance. His eyes stuck like glue. So focused that sounds of the winds brewing outside rendered as nothing to his stubby ears. So entirely focused that not even the colour of the button he admired so had been noticed. Then, A flash. Or rather, the lack thereof. "Kyaa?!" Kyusei suddenly hopped, falling to his rum with a boom and thus causing the snow around his body to explode millions of places at once. Then he snapped up to his paws again, repeating the cycle. "Ah! C-C-C–" His foot weaved to the side, pitifully failing at his attempts to dodge the freezing numbness which crept up his leg. The vast plane of frozen mountains mimicked his yelps. Swiftly dashing, the snow creaking under his footfalls, his breath forming a mist as he glided past the whilted tree trunks and sharp bush branches. Hanging desperately onto the chimes chained to his waist as they tossed their tune to the wind. Standing off in the distance: a block of wood. Like a house. A little shabby, the roof almost fallen down, The snow looked to have attempted to bite through whatever walls were left untouched. "H-h-how can weather be so v-violent?" He darted over to the place, pulling the door lever open and diving inside. With a "thunk!" he fell to the floor! Releasing his chimes and catching the chance to breathe while the wicked winds drew a breath of air and slammed the door shut! "Huff, huff. N-no one t-t-told me it'd be t-this c-c-cold!" He looked back towards the now shut door in complete darkness, glad to count his lucky stars that this house just so happened to be in the perfect spot. "I can wait it out here for now…" Winds howled, the house moaned its elderly cry, Kyusei's attention drifted over to the rotted walls. There, right in front of the door. His hand reached out to touch it, shining a star down upon him. It had a weak radiance; its spherical edges barely even reaching the dark corners of the room. "Electricity? So there's a form of intelligence?" Gliding past that fact, there held little to nothing inside; mainly a kitchen, any other part of the cubicle fell empty besides the occasional shirt tossed here and there. He never understood why someone would ever want to wear these; always ruffling fur and choking out anyone it managed to get their cottony grabbers on. Wait… Better question: why was a shirt here? It made sense that another form of life would require warmth from objects besides their own fur, but this felt like too big of a coincidence. Did he fail to cross the galaxy? Kyusei took a hold of the shirt, stealing a quick whiff and audibly delving deeper into the mystical scent. "Ahh~ what is this?" The fragrance tickled his nose, it was so soft, almost invisible, yet so violently sweet. Twinkling with a hint of a fruity smell. It was so good he almost didn't want to stop. "Can a creature even make such a fragrance?" Sniff and sniff again. He did so without reason. But, a few sniffles later and his black nozzle caught a whiff of something interesting. He looked in its direction; a small cabinet of some sort. A trail led to just that. Pulling the handle to find an entire container drowning with bags carrying the confusing scent. He wanted to say that they smelt putrid, but it was actually quite the intriguing one; sort of like a form of food. *Grumble* Speaking of… he forgot to pack any! And given how bottomless his stomach usually is, this was not good! Hunger swayed his mind against better judgment to peel open the baggage and find lying inside thin cuts of something alien. The salty stench came from here. His mouth watered as he stared down into the salty abyss of the bag; pulling out a single, thin, negligible slice from the rest and raised it to his mouth. It wouldn't hurt to try, right? Getting a better whiff of its saltiness he could tell it also had a hint of sourness, but not in a bad way. Actually, quite pleasant. He let it simmer on his nozzle a little longer before bearing his teeth and chomping down. Instantly, his whole mouth exploded with a new flavor! Who knew something so salty could be so tasty? It was like a supernova of flavor just exploded inside of his mouth, leaving chunks of all its self lying all around his mouth, waiting for another chance to explode with their saltiness! Kyusei tossed his paw inside the bag and swiped another one, and another, more, all until the bag had been completely emptied of its insides. And even then, Kyusei took the liberty to glide his tongue down the aluminum inners of the bag, savoring all the creamy, salty goodness it had to offer. Eventually, throwing the bag to the side and grabbing another. His giant fingers grazed the green label before tearing it open. Throughout the night, Kyusei had gone through about ten of them before passing out on a lone mattress which lay in the middle of the room. Waking up to find that the outside winds ceased their howls. It wouldn't be difficult to hear a pin drop. Not even the sound of snow crunching underfoot. Not a window told of the time outside. It could've been day or night. The truth is not even Kyusei could tell that. Starting what he supposed would be the day, he began by pulling his arms as far as they could go and doing the same for his legs and stretching the limbs until an audible pop reached his eardrums. A long mewl escaped his jaws. Next, he'd scratch the drowsiness away by unfurling his stubby ears which curled into a ball, then scritching at the exposed pink inside with his gaze falling down on the wooden door. "Guess it's time to leave." Whined Kyusei. Wrapping his fluffy paw around the knob. He noticed an odd feeling in his clutches. Wait… knob? His eyes widened. The handle was… spherical? No, this could not be. Why would a door ever need that? It'd be impossible to grab! Kyusei fondled with the knob, wrapping his paws around and twisting to no avail! His fingers would just slide off of it each time. But, this was the only way out! BAM! BAM! "Crap!" Despite how raggedy it looked, kicking the door did no good! Oh no, what should he do? Was he really doomed to starve because of a doorknob? No, he had plenty of food left, he just needed to wait for someone. Surely this house couldn't be abandoned. Think it through, plenty of time is left. *Grumble* Maybe not that much time now that he thought about it. ------ A bloody eye. The sound of strain on a dusty rope. Scorching fire creeping through thy flesh. Yue hadn't much. Emotionless from the day she was born. Death, life, nothing but another part of suffering. Dangling overhead, the ultimate opportunity. She was a husk. Icy nothingness haunted her dreams. But… For one moment. One second. A brief flash, a twinkle of light. She was a husk. Wanting nothing in her life, never giving actual effort, books were mere fantasy. Emotions were for the unrealistic wishing upon a star. So why? Why did her heart bang so violently? Why must she struggle so hard for another breath? What was the warmth that which slid down her cheeks? Why did her chest ache so? It didn't make sense. From the rainy day that which she was born, nothing ever made sense. Why did one love, hate, kill? For what purpose would one genuinely want to survive? She couldn't really speak though, she'd been attempting to survive ever since then. That moment. From when the blood dribbled into her view, when her sister spoke, when the solar system shifted. Nothing has ever made sense. A sudden jolt snapped her awake, a sharp pain cut through her back. And with that came a loud thump! She rolled around, confused at how she fell down only to see a figure standing overhead. One of darkness. Her heart raced, the drowsiness in her eyes flashed in mere seconds. She wobbled to her feet, hearing nothing but the banging of her heart in her ears. It stared back. Something grey, something bright and twinkling, not snow, it radiated in the darkness. Two of these things stare within her chest, stabbing through her stomach. She fell completely still because she was unable to understand! She tried to move. But her body wouldn't answer! What was this feeling? Her heart threatened to explode, gravity forced down on her, and she felt trapped; stuck. Not even the frigid winds from outside appeared, it was simply soundless. Empty. Darkness. The figure jumped to the wall, bearing its monstrous fangs as its claws crept over. Suddenly, a brightness casted a blinding glow, causing Yue to back up and trip on her mattress and then landing belly-up with a stiff thump that caused her to wheeze in pain. She looked up to see something unknown: a figure, much like a human's. Albeit shorter than Yue's, yet all the more terrifying in her hazed eyes. It had fur much like a dog or wolf, fangs like one as well. Like a werewolf! It stood on two legs. Menacingly boasting the waistband of teeth and trinkets forming a ladder from the beast's waist to shoulder. It's pelt black as space itself. Eyes of a full moon. The creature took no time dashing over to Yue and pinning her to the floor. With one paw on her shoulder and the other on her head and a knee below her pelvis. Their bracelet of sharp fangs lunging out from the creature's waist, threatening to cut her thankfully without success. It chimes shingled over Yue as the weight pressed down! This was it. She would die here, to this beast? It pried open its mouth, puffing out a cloud of smoke as their tongue slithered out and across her cheek. "Ah-" At the slightest touch came a creeping sensation. Venom! Yue deciphered, nonetheless struggling to do much of anything beneath the weight of this monstrous beast. It stood up, relieving the pressure after a minute. Without a care in the world, then sitting down with its legs crossed. Although it seemed like a chance to run for it, Yue could not. Her legs had become brittle and floppy. The venom completely numbed the feeling in her arms and legs and eventually, her chest. Paralysis? She reached out an arm to notice that it had completely disappeared within her clothes! Frantically searching for any remnant of her limb, her head fell down once she realized that her skin had grown pale. Like, much more pale, completely white. As her view doubled, tripled, quadrupled in size! She plummeted to the floor, confused at the view that had been shielded by her own clothes, now colossal. Kyusei, scared, heart racing, looked down at the pile of clothes that which lay before him. That monster, that beast, piled onto him when he was sleeping. No thanks to the howling winds he hadn't realized until the morning came. But now everything was under control, thank the immortals above his ethereal had the power to transform things. Kyusei raised his foot and kicked the pile of clothes to the side. Somewhat shaken by the events which occured, he looked down and mustered a relieved sigh at the picture of a handkerchief on the floor. His fear quickly turned into a smug expression while he came to terms with what just occurred. "Fufufu! That's what you get for trying to eat me!" Yue looked up at the creature, completely powerless to do anything. But once she heard its words freeze her in shock. "Eat?!" Staggering back, Kyusei carefully inspected the situation. They can speak my language? No, that mustn't be right. A mimic? He suggested. Trusting his instincts, he supposed it was time to dish out some well deserved punishment. Raising his left foot and casting its shadow upon the little handkerchief. "This'll teach you, fufufu!" Yue stared in disbelief. The paw hovered over her entire body! Like a giant meteor, it threatened to crash down right upon her. With nothing she could do, she inspected the pink paddings under the black paw, reflecting the picture of a single handkerchief in its stomping grounds. "W-what? What did you do to me?" If looks could kill then Kyusei's smirk would definitely have done so. "I just put you down to size. I'd say it looks good on you~" the man teased with his tail darting from left to right. These emotions had never reached Yue before. She knew not how to deal with the adrenaline pumping through her veins. This beast may have been the first to genuinely terrify her! The shadow of his foot loomed over the motionless fabric. "These stompers have been itching for something to crush. And you got here just in time~" "W-wait! Crush?" Yue staggered. "Don't worry, I'll be gentle~" The pink cushion bade farewell with a little wave, "Enough talk, these peets are dying to step on something!" A fairly miniscule movement for Kyusei posted as a monolithic natural disaster for Yue. It was a simple, small step down for Kyusei, he put little to no effort in the act. In fact, he'd say he had gone easy on them. However kind as it was, the generosity did not translate for the little napkin as that. For her, the weight of a planet pressed against her soft frame, causing her to squirm in discomfort. The weak fluorescent lighting had been overshadowed by the massive paw looming overhead. And for her to find generosity in that would be like finding a polar bear in a snowstorm. So, as much as she attempted to stop herself from moving too much, and inadvertently sinking deeper into the grime, she couldn't help herself, wriggling around like a worm underpaw. Kyusei was going easy. But, because of Yue's wiggles, it would not be too out of the box to assume these —in all actuality— pitiful writhings could be mistaken for an act of disobedience. Which, of course, must have consequences. His foot raised up momentarily, catching a glimpse of (what used to be) a squeaky clean, cotton handkerchief, now turned grey because of the dusty floor below and, not to mention his unwashed paws. She had been pressed so firmly into wood that she had been entirely squished! Craters of where Kyusei's foot once was, more specifically, an entire outline of his left paw! Also highlighting where his paw pads were by showing much deeper "craters" right where they used to be as well as dust and dirt which accumulated especially in those places. He snickered, taking a moment to lower his toe and compare the two. Kyusei basked in the feeling of superiority; having his object of fear right under his paws, reduced to a mere footnote. And better yet the divine feeling that came with each stomp. It felt as if he stepped on a brand new pillow which he took no time to dirty up. It felt too good to be true! Especially after two days without bathing, this was just the attention his paws needed. With a simple grind of his heel, he made short work of Yue's disobedient act. Instead rendering the object's actions to groans, probably due to having their face transformed into a silky doormat. Kyusei raised his foot again. This time however, the sight of the tiny rag disappeared! Scanning the floor for a moment before tilting his paw to the side and grinning, "There you are!" He placed his leg down sideways, "I've always wondered how it would feel to step on a living thing, and I have got to say, it is amazing!" He scrunched his foot. Yue's view shifted to the damp pit between the beast's four digits. That however, brought considerably less anxiety than the other paw slowly creeping into view. "Best thing is that I don't even feel bad about it!" Yue mewled at the sight of another paw. Lord knows what she'd do if put into another round of that. She had to act, lest she wanted her heart to explode! "I–I–I you misunderstand me!" Small, straight ears flopped to the side of his tilted head. "Misunderstand? What–you trying to eat me?" He snickered. "N-no! I wasn't–" Before Yue could reason her way out she had been cut off. "Yeah, says the one who piled onto me while I was sleeping. You know what, why am I even talking to you?" "N-N-No! Wait!" "Talk to the paw!" Snickering at his lackluster pun, he led his right paw over, closing it alongside his left. Glued to one mountain as another rapidly approached view, her heart leaped from her chest. Unexplainable. Confusing. Her body tensed up. Everything from the top of her nonexistent head to the tip of her toes quaked from the mere sight of another godly mountain looming beside her. If one was enough to turn her into whatever this was, then she couldn't even imagine what the second one would do to her. "I'm hungry for a paw sandwich!" It took no time for Kyusei to close the extraordinarily small gap between his two paws, fundamentally turning the tissue into just that. Yue's entire world had turned into a mixture of floral pink and a void of fluff. One second she'd be in a cocoon of silky fuzz which slowly cooked her alive in its warmth. Just for the next moment for it to all change, turning the soft cocoon into a cushion similar to a water bed. There was little surface to lie on. Rather than being mashed against the walls, it felt like the walls surrounded her! Needless to say, both were a form of claustrophobic she'd never felt, struggling to breathe through the two gargantuan gatekeepers locking her inside. Kyusei scrubbed her paws on the puny handkerchief like a clean towel after a shower. Giggling to the little thing's dismay, "Fufufu! Think it's about time for you to clean between my toes. That's where all the dirt really builds up." With no ability to complain, the man had a swell time picking the rag off of his foot in order to fold it into a fourth of its original, –already– miniscule size. He splayed all four of his podgy toes in a perfect row, holding the pathetic rag out towards his massive left foot, snickering "Lint rag~" The dense air between Yue and her tormentors' toes closed in an instant. Leading a truckload of plump, curvy, black toes caked in a slick layer of dirt and built up sweat to smother Yue in their fleshy pink pads as they wiggled and scrunched to her dismay. She coughed, she sputtered, her heart felt too large for her chest. Infested by this numbing warmth covering her body from head to toe in its damp embrace. One whiff between the toes was enough to make her moan softly. Meanwhile Kyusei had been too busy basking in his sense of superiority to acknowledge the squeaks coming from between his toes. He'd barely done anything, yet the matter of the fact was that he had a person, a living being, struggling for a breath under what most people would consider a cute, innocent little toe, unable to harm a single soul, now pulverizing someone so easily they were on the verge of complete domination. Tgerefore indulging in his power a little more, Kyusei used only the tip of his pinky's nail to stuff the rag deeper into the cavern, effectively turning the tissue into a fuzzy cotton ball, soggy lint between his cute toes to become nothing more than dirt that'd be washed away in the shower later. Yue approached the point of break; the world began to look all jumbled up and incomplete, melting before her very eyes! Her body, mind, and soul caught between the very strands of fur between the beast's toes. Any idle (or intentional) squeeze of the toes sent Yue spiraling deeper into madness. And furthermore, into the cavern keeping her there. It felt demeaning, it should've been a terrible sensation; having her whole body soaked in sweat, dirt, and whatever accumulated between those toes, alongside the heavy scent crushing her, and not to mention the daunting reminder of just who it was squeezing these sounds out of her. "How's it feel to be stepped on by the being you planned to eat? Humiliating right?" "I– hnngh, I swear, I‐I didn't plan to eat you!" The woman could barely utter a response. Still, that was enough to cause her whole world to shift to complete darkness. The teensy gap between Kyusei's toes closed. He took the liberty to grind his foot to prove a point. "You won't get anywhere by lying." The man stated, barely noticing the massive red flag. "I… I'm telling the truth…" Although it was right in front of him, he couldn't see it! Or rather, his mind refused to see it. But suddenly, it all clicked. Causing a silence to fall between the two. Kyusei opened up his toes, watching as the ball of cotton struggled for power against the strands of sweat playing tug of war. Finding amusement yet also a sort of sudden realization. When did this become a conversation? This being, they were no mimic! He had been so invested in his own power trip to realize that, and now he was sitting down with a being, probably scared for their life right now between his toes. And not to mention how dirty they were. Using his keen intuition, through many years of training the mind both scientifically and physically, he came up with the most philosophical response which would both squeeze out answers as well as making grounds for a possibly non-aggressive apology. Only someone with IQ in the four digits such as himself could concoct such a question. "You uh… weren't trying to eat me?" He asked baffledly. "N-no… I-It was so dark that I didn't see you." A wave of instant shame washed through the fluffy home invader. "How did that happen?" He asked with an inquisitive tone that barely hid his facade. "I got back from work… well, fired actually…" "Fired?" The alien froze even more. Attacked by another wave of guilt. "Y-yes, so when I got home I went straight to bed. Not even taking the time to turn on the lights. Sorry." Kyusei tilted his glare to the wooden floorboards. "So uh… You didn't mean any harm…" "No. I'm sorry." Making amends, Kyusei picked up the ball and blew a gust of air, causing the object to expand at an exponential rate! It was because of this release that Yue saw her arms and legs reform, her skin went back to its natural paleness, and most importantly, her curly hair had been reformed to its perpetual bedhead state. Standing up, a chilling brush of wind reminded her of the lack of clothes, causing her arms to wrap over the more private areas. "Eh? You don't have fur!" Kyusei tilted his head. Fluff tends to cover most creatures from head to toe, not including some rarer, cold-blooded creatures such as the lizard. Kyusei's gaze fell a bit lower, catching a glimpse of something he definitely should not have caused him to jerk his head to the wall! "Oh my goodness! I-I uh… didn't realize." "Didn't realize?" The woman repeated in a confused slur. Dirt and grime had coated her naked body, outlining the heel of Kyusei's paw directly on her waist up to the ball of his foot that slid up her slim stomach. Even higher up he could notice the four mounds of enlarged fuzz on her face from ear to ear. Needless to say, right now, she did not have the opportunity to craft a single, intellectual thought in that empty, marked head of hers. "My immortals! What am I going to do?" He asked himself, more focused on the massive hole he put himself in. He jumped to his feet and walked around in a small circle from the mattress to the kitchen, grazing his chin every so often to stay in touch with reality as Yue crouched in the corner and slowly slipped her clothes on. Unoticed at first, the occasional glance at his fluffy thighs, sliding her gaze down to their paws. Big, fluffy, probably bouncy if she was to imagine it as a trampoline. Maybe a bit swampy. Not to mention how soft and warm it'd be. And that salty smell mixed with a rainforest. Her chest pounded in rhythm with the springed footsteps leaving a print where the creature marched. Because of his pacing, the pile of pawprints slowly began to turn into one massive splotch of dust, sweat, and loose hair strands. All things Yue, given her apparent weakeness, could not stray her gaze far from. No, what was she doing? This was wrong. Everything in her mind screamed towards fleeing far away. But her body disagreed. Why was her body so defiant on that notion? The dog-alien-thing, catching her red handed, walked up, bringing his paws much closer than Yue had courage for. "Watch'a looking at?" He smirked, lifting his paw just enough for Yue to have a keen view of the pink undersides, causing her to gasp within seconds. "Wouldn't be these, would it?" Yue, mesmerized, nodded her head as her glare fell to the dirt below. Tiny, insignificant particles of dust, flung about and glued to the pink cusion. And in one swift slam, completely annihilated. "You really are! Fufufu, and here I was thinking I treated you too roughly." Kyusei chuckled and brought his mouth closer to the girl's pale ear. "Wanna know something?" The whole planet seemed to freeze over a few words, lost to the wind and a swift chomp to her ear. She squealed and jumped to her legs almost instantly. Something is off. Her chest pounded louder than a meteor, persisting even as she tumbled to the kitchen and twisted the stovetop dial. Vibrations ran through her body after she put a skillet down a little harder than she intended. And through all this, she felt uncannily hot and extremely bothered by the simple, bored gaze tossed over her direction. Kyusei on the other hand, felt similar; having had his gaze cast on the lady for a little too long and a little too intensely. He found it… hard to look away. At the start, he was terrified; fearful that his life may be swooped away at any moment. But the more he stared the more he wondered, who is this lady? What is this lady? And why is she so calm? It felt almost uncanny to admit that the person he tormented looked none the wiser. Their eyes eminated a fog so dense Kyusei could not hope to overcome it! Behind her, a transparent cloud, showing the world in black and white. "...So why did you get fired?" He tossed a question. "I was worked like a dog nonstop; doing everything I was told to." Kyusei understood that feeling all too well. To have one's entire life dedicated to work was a frivolous purpose. It almost puzzled him at how a person could be so dedicated to their craft that they'd die for their job. "That sounds terrible." Kyusei nodded. His neck crooked. "But… what's a dog?" Shocked, Yue twirled a finger around her golden hair, "A dog is like a roomate. But, rather than like me, they are covered in fur and live for free." "Ah!" The alien nodded, "So I'm like your dog!" Yue coughed to herself, "No!" She blurted out, wincing at the searing pain rushing up her arm returning her attention to the searing pan in her hands. "Y-yes… I guess that you would be." While oil bubbled, Yue drifted over to a big box of some sort, pulling the handle open and out came a breath of frigid mist! She swiped a blue carton filled with white ovals and a bag of salty, meaty goodness! Kyusei knew not what these delecacies were. Yet the sizzle of bacon and eggs in the morning was a familiar one to Kyusei. It reminded him of his mother, cracking a few shells as Kyusei ran from his foxy friend, Nokuro, in the living room. Tripping on the glass coffee table littered with papers and a steaming cup of joe. On the ground as Nokuro held out thier golden paw. Those were the good ol' times. The times where nothing mattered, and every day was a new one. Tossing snowballs behind massive fortresses, playing cards under the dim glow of a candle, and screaming in terror when his mother walked in on the two, holding her arms out like a zombie! Good ol' times. A faint tap snapped him awake. His ears shot up! The fluff on his back stood the second he had been touched with a cold hand! As he tumbled and fell to the floor, his memories came back. "I-It is ready…" the blonde woman whispered softly. Sliding a glass plate towards his feet and placing another one at her own. Then she crouched down and sat on her thighs. And that is when the akward silence begun its reign. "So uh… what's your name?" "Yue." She swiftly replied. "Yue… that's cool." Silence moved like a snail and stung like a bee! Viscious and slow to pass as Kyusei tapped a claw to his chin in thought. "What is your name?" "Oh right! I'm Kyusei!" "Kyusei…" Yue echoed shyly. "And… you're… what are you exactly?" The space invader looked down. His gaze casted to the floor coated in a tint of grey due to the obvious lack of home care. "I uh…" the man looked up, then down, and up again, reflecting the girl in his marble eyes, "I'm… your abductor!" He spat hurriedly. "Abductor?" She echoed again, reflecting the alien in her clouded eyes as well. "What… do you mean?" Silence fell. Buzz buzz buzzing in the both's ears peskily. Kyusei, annoyed with this bee, swatted it away with the crunch of bacon between his teeth. With his face scarlet he instantly began to regret his blatant blabbering, "I-I mean… if you want to of course." "Want to… what? I– don't understand." "You got fired right? If that means what it means on my planet then you have nothing anymore, right?" Kyusei prayed silently. "Yes, more or less… But, what are you suggesting?" "Come with me. To my world." It was like a celestial deity arrived at the moment of despair. Singing sweet words in her ears. Here, she had what? A cubicle, an empty, stiff mattress? These twisted memories of a moment so long ago. What did they serve besides to hurt. "What do you say?" Yue's face burned scarlet. "I… I don't know…" "What do you not know? What is stopping you?" The alien asked, picking up his plate and tilting it towards his open maw. "I just… can I? Is that really something I can do?" The plate landed with a quiet tap as Kyusei looked at the human dead in the eye. "You ask a lot." "Yes… sorry." Her gaze fell to the untouched plate of golden egg yolks and crispy bacon before her. "Why are you apologizing?" He questioned and obtained an answer swiftly. "Sorry." "You did it again!" The alien slammed his paw on the floor and caused the house to churn. "S-sorry…" What the hell is happening? No matter what I say… "Give me your plate if you won't eat it." "Y-yes… sorry." His trinkets shook at the sudden lunge, grabbing Yue's collar and forcing her eyes to meet his, "What is your answer? Will you come, or not?" "...sorry." A thunderous clap reverberated through the tiny dorm. Leaving Yue lying on the floor and she brushing her hand against her swollen cheek as Kyusei huffed and scraped at the salty tears dribbling from his eyes. "Fine! Rot away here!" Kyusei stomped over to the front door and wraped his paw around the know. Of course, failing to open the door, he looked back embarassingly. "Open this door… please." This was a new feeling; tugging at her heart, like strings of a marionette, she felt weak to deny, it pulled her towards the door. Her hand towards the knob, twisting her arm and pulling the door open. Kyusei looked back one more time, holding his necklace and trinkets close as a breeze of wind begged them to shingle and sing. "Bye…" This was it, the first and last time Yue could ever get the opportunity. Would she really let that slip past her? The right thing to do was close the door. But as winds brewed so did the feeling in her chest. Watching the fluffy, black alien waddle away filled her with… dread? She would never get to see those eyes shine in the dark again. Feel those fluffy pads on her body. Smell the beautiful scent of a rainforest. Never getting to touch that black fur, lulling herself to sleep with its warmth. In a flash the bitter cold came to bite though her flesh as the door slammed shut. And left in the vast plane of snow and bitter cold was Kyusei… And a barefooted Yue, clutching the alien's back. "Please… let me come." The faint voice swirled the tears in his eyes. The sound lifted the corners of his lips. With tears flowing from his eyes he turned around and swooped Yue in a tight embrace. "Of course!"
