"description": "Days since the party had lost Josephine, and only a couple less since they had lost Skylar. Once again, the group had been given just time enough to grieve (and/or resurrect the dead, commit deicide...) and get several nights' sleep behind them... along with a few nice campfire meals and however else they felt like engaging with the other facilities of their camp.\n\nCybele had, for some reason, not returned to the camp after wandering off after Petal, with Pity not terribly far behind.\n\nAnd meanwhile, almost certainly as a mean-spirited reminder, that square, 'guillotine' symbol looming high above the camp within the crystal pillar had grown ever slowly brighter by the day.\n\nAs had become somewhat the norm, while the day of the challenge was predictable, and even to a certain extent the late-morning time, the group was still transferred without warning. Once again, one moment they had been going about their businesses, the next? Just that sense of blip and each was somewhere else, alone.\n\nWhich at least meant, were any of the cubs in a compromising position, none of their peers were around to witness. Even if they did undoubtedly have viewers aplenty.\n\n\nWhat had the cubs been expecting? A wooden platform in the middle of a town square? The chamber in which they had been forced to watch Fifi get strangled to death?\n\nIt probably wasn't the well-appointed chambers in which each of them found themselves alone, separated as they had been during the very first challenge. The walls were made from the same crystal had loomed over their camp, albeit so opaque as to have taken on a faint, pink tinge. The room was not large - or would not have been to an adult, at any rate. At some ten feet on a side, it was about the size of a half decent bedroom for most of the children.\n\nBut the standout feature was the furniture, particularly just how fine it all was. Coffee table, bookshelves, cabinets, all in ornate mahogany. A stone fireplace that took up most of one wall, with a fire burning cheerfully in the hearth. Books, all with those plain, imposing, boringly colored spines decorated only with titles and volume numbers. Knicknacks tastefully arranged on flat surfaces all about. And a huge, high-backed armchair in green leather right in the middle of it all.\n\nWeirdly cramped with all the items, but a little cozy all the same! Even if there was no door, and that dirty great mirror taking up most of the next wall to the fireplace was also clearly too big: a tall, reflective rectangle with a simple wooden frame that, when the light of the room's overhead candelabra caught it just right, shone across its top corner in stark resemblance to the symbol the cubs had all been haunted by for the past few weeks.\n\n \t\n[t]The Sixth Challenge[/t]\n\nNothing leapt out at each of the cubs in their individual, crystal-walled parlors. No trap; the ceiling did not grow spikes and begin to lower, nor the fire in the grate leap to fill the elemental trifecta with the last couple of lethal challenges. Just all the time they wanted to examine, explore - could even get comfortable if they wanted!\n\nAlthough none were so foolish as to assume there wasn't a timed component in some fashion, all seven remaining party members beginning with equal promptness to look for some clue as to what they were supposed to be doing.\n\nNo instructions, and nothing being forced on them to resist. It was Poly that spotted it first; although Ash, Daniel, and Pity weren't far behind in their respective chambers. Connie, Petal, and then Jacob thereafter.\n\nThe mirror was wrong. It would have seemed wrong from the moment the cubs arrived, but one by one the group would realize: the reflection of the room they were in, did not match that of their actual surroundings. It was close! But a great many of the items, be they decorations or furniture, simply were not in the same places as their reflections. To the point that any cub had chanced to clamber onto the armchair would find themselves sat two feet to one side in the mirror room, seemingly floating above the ground!\n\nPoly was the first to suss the trick, then - although that in part was down to just how quick she had been in spotting the problem with the mirror. And while she was experimentally finagling a porcelain figure of a male wolf (unsettlingly, giftedly complete in its excited anatomy) to match its position in the mirrored room, the others were coming to the same conclusion one by one.\n\nAsh realized next, and then while the same big-dicked werewolf statuette was illuminating suggestively in Poly's mirror, so too did Connie and Daniel. Only Jacob, Petal, and obviously Pity, took a more significant time to figure out just what was wrong about that enormous mirror, and from there the nature of the challenge.\n\n\nThe only problem after that was identifying the erroneous items within the room around them, and how they apparently ought to be placed! Which all of the cubs set about with industry.\n\nOne by one, items in the world as the mirror saw it began to light, glowing gently in apparent indication that each cub was on the right track.\n\nEven if some, like Ash, were having an easier time than others. Like Pity. And also Daniel. Neither of that unlikely pair were making much progress, having to rely on ages spent squinting at the mirror and almost certainly gaining a slowly greater headache, painstakingly working out what about their space was different, what needed to be where...\n\nPlus it was probably mostly the 'yote that was struggling with the mental element. No small part of Daniel's struggle had to be the fact that, as the smallest party member by far, his challenge had an extra, clambering and pushing component.\n\nMeanwhile the supposed 'idiot slut' of the group acquitted herself respectably well! Connie managed to identify the peculiar items in twos and threes, bar one, long moment spent trying to establish the proper location of a book that described, in graphic detail, the methods by which one might successfully induce a young girl to copulate with a horse. Point being, she was firmly in the middle of the pack as far as progress went.\n\nThey might not be aware of one another, but the audience would soon be able to tell that it was Poly and Ash who were making the greatest headway. While Pity was struggling to locate her third figurine (a lovingly detailed representation of a girl, of very similar species, stood submissive in heavy collar and manacles), both goat and fox girl had finished arranging the room's sideboard to match the mirror, and corrected the position of that big, squishy armchair to boot!\n\nJacob and Petal were hardly far behind, and only slightly ahead of Connie. But for Daniel and Pity and their painfully slow progress tidying their respective rooms, the other cubs were very nearly done! And on her tenth item becoming illuminated, the room finally declared itself to be correct as her chamber's mirror bent and twisted, the reflective surface becoming a pool that shadily revealed a view of the camp!\n\nAll she had to do was step through.\n\nPoly stumbled back out into the cave, having apparently walked straight out of the big crystal had borne the challenge symbol up until now. Ash was only moments behind her! Followed only a very short while after by Petal and Jacob - and Connie only very shortly after that!\n\nBy this point, not a one of the cubs had escaped finding something explicit that they were expected to handle, plus the odd unsettling find besides. A hunting almanac for Jake, a predator's food guide for Daniel. Ash, too, had found that almanac - so perhaps she and Jake could compare notes!\n\nThe book of erotic rope play that Petal discovered was probably a bit on the nose, as was that album of explicit lithographs that Poly had been expected to find a home for.\n\nStill, finally, out stumbled Daniel! ... And then Pity, an interminable while later. Perhaps the chamber's strategic teasing had gotten to a point of actually smashing the next species-sexual-stereotype figurine? Or there was a perfectly good fire to hurl exploitative manuscripts into. It would only take one, before the chamber would only spit her out after the others were thoroughly done with their puzzles.\n\nOr perhaps she had simply flunked a simple spot-the-difference puzzle! Who was to say?\n\n \n\n\"Everyone,\" because who would be waiting for them 'outside' that crystal, but *Minerva? \"Congratulations on completing the challenge.\"\n\n\"Hi Petal! That pit did have a bottom!\" at least Cybele did not seem to be holding a grudge. Although maybe *Minerva had a bit of a look to her face, for a moment?\n\nGone right after though, if it had been there at all. *Minerva had scores to relate!\n\n\"Poly, well done,\" the fox girl moving to stand before her species-fellow (even down to their fur colours!). Poly hands were cupped, and that white, luminous +1 rising in front of the girl's nose. \"You won the challenge, although Ash came ever so close behind.\"\n\nSmiling from one, to the other, and then the others in turn. \"Petal, Jacob, and Connie? You did very well also, but I am afraid Daniel struggled - though not as much as Pity did. Pity, was anything particularly difficult?\" a regretful, concerned aspect that went with the big, black, -1 that drifted up in front of the collared, scantily dressed girl's nose.\n\nBut with that, all that was left was for *Minerva to make her gesture, the next two symbols replacing the wasn't-a-guillotine after all in the crystal over their heads!\n\nWell, that and the orbs, which blipped into the paws of their owners. Even if there was no door, and that dirty great mirror taking up most of the next wall to the fireplace was also clearly too big: a tall, reflective rectangle with a simple wooden frame that, when the light of the room's overhead candelabra caught it just right, shone across its top corner in stark resemblance to the symbol the cubs had all been haunted by for the past few weeks.

                                                                                                                                                \t

The Sixth Challenge

Nothing leapt out at each of the cubs in their individual, crystal-walled parlors. No trap; the ceiling did not grow spikes and begin to lower, nor the fire in the grate leap to fill the elemental trifecta with the last couple of lethal challenges. Just all the time they wanted to examine, explore - could even get comfortable if they wanted!

Although none were so foolish as to assume there wasn't a timed component in some fashion, all seven remaining party members beginning with equal promptness to look for some clue as to what they were supposed to be doing.

No instructions, and nothing being forced on them to resist. It was Poly that spotted it first; although Ash, Daniel, and Pity weren't far behind in their respective chambers. Connie, Petal, and then Jacob thereafter.

The mirror was wrong. It would have seemed wrong from the moment the cubs arrived, but one by one the group would realize: the reflection of the room they were in, did not match that of their actual surroundings. It was close! But a great many of the items, be they decorations or furniture, simply were not in the same places as their reflections. To the point that any cub had chanced to clamber onto the armchair would find themselves sat two feet to one side in the mirror room, seemingly floating above the ground!

Poly was the first to suss the trick, then - although that in part was down to just how quick she had been in spotting the problem with the mirror. And while she was experimentally finagling a porcelain figure of a male wolf (unsettlingly, giftedly complete in its excited anatomy) to match its position in the mirrored room, the others were coming to the same conclusion one by one.

Ash realized next, and then while the same big-dicked werewolf statuette was illuminating suggestively in Poly's mirror, so too did Connie and Daniel. Only Jacob, Petal, and obviously Pity, took a more significant time to figure out just what was wrong about that enormous mirror, and from there the nature of the challenge.

The only problem after that was identifying the erroneous items within the room around them, and how they apparently ought to be placed! Which all of the cubs set about with industry.

One by one, items in the world as the mirror saw it began to light, glowing gently in apparent indication that each cub was on the right track.

Even if some, like Ash, were having an easier time than others. Like Pity. And also Daniel. Neither of that unlikely pair were making much progress, having to rely on ages spent squinting at the mirror and almost certainly gaining a slowly greater headache, painstakingly working out what about their space was different, what needed to be where...

Plus it was probably mostly the 'yote that was struggling with the mental element. No small part of Daniel's struggle had to be the fact that, as the smallest party member by far, his challenge had an extra, clambering and pushing component.

Meanwhile the supposed 'idiot slut' of the group acquitted herself respectably well! Connie managed to identify the peculiar items in twos and threes, bar one, long moment spent trying to establish the proper location of a book that described, in graphic detail, the methods by which one might successfully induce a young girl to copulate with a horse. Point being, she was firmly in the middle of the pack as far as progress went.

They might not be aware of one another, but the audience would soon be able to tell that it was Poly and Ash who were making the greatest headway. While Pity was struggling to locate her third figurine (a lovingly detailed representation of a girl, of very similar species, stood submissive in heavy collar and manacles), both goat and fox girl had finished arranging the room's sideboard to match the mirror, and corrected the position of that big, squishy armchair to boot!

Jacob and Petal were hardly far behind, and only slightly ahead of Connie. But for Daniel and Pity and their painfully slow progress tidying their respective rooms, the other cubs were very nearly done! And on her tenth item becoming illuminated, the room finally declared itself to be correct as her chamber's mirror bent and twisted, the reflective surface becoming a pool that shadily revealed a view of the camp!

All she had to do was step through.

Poly stumbled back out into the cave, having apparently walked straight out of the big crystal had borne the challenge symbol up until now. Ash was only moments behind her! Followed only a very short while after by Petal and Jacob - and Connie only very shortly after that!

By this point, not a one of the cubs had escaped finding something explicit that they were expected to handle, plus the odd unsettling find besides. A hunting almanac for Jake, a predator's food guide for Daniel. Ash, too, had found that almanac - so perhaps she and Jake could compare notes!

The book of erotic rope play that Petal discovered was probably a bit on the nose, as was that album of explicit lithographs that Poly had been expected to find a home for.

Still, finally, out stumbled Daniel! ... And then Pity, an interminable while later. Perhaps the chamber's strategic teasing had gotten to a point of actually smashing the next species-sexual-stereotype figurine? Or there was a perfectly good fire to hurl exploitative manuscripts into. It would only take one, before the chamber would only spit her out after the others were thoroughly done with their puzzles.

Or perhaps she had simply flunked a simple spot-the-difference puzzle! Who was to say?

"Everyone," because who would be waiting for them 'outside' that crystal, but *Minerva? "Congratulations on completing the challenge."

"Hi Petal! That pit did have a bottom!" at least Cybele did not seem to be holding a grudge. Although maybe *Minerva had a bit of a look to her face, for a moment?

Gone right after though, if it had been there at all. *Minerva had scores to relate!

"Poly, well done," the fox girl moving to stand before her species-fellow (even down to their fur colours!). Poly hands were cupped, and that white, luminous +1 rising in front of the girl's nose. "You won the challenge, although Ash came ever so close behind."

Smiling from one, to the other, and then the others in turn. "Petal, Jacob, and Connie? You did very well also, but I am afraid Daniel struggled - though not as much as Pity did. Pity, was anything particularly difficult?" a regretful, concerned aspect that went with the big, black, -1 that drifted up in front of the collared, scantily dressed girl's nose.

But with that, all that was left was for *Minerva to make her gesture, the next two symbols replacing the wasn't-a-guillotine after all in the crystal over their heads!

Well, that and the orbs, which blipped into the paws of their owners.
