Mid july I got the call my mom's fight with cancer wasn't going well. I packed up my car in an emergency and drove 9 hours to go see her. By the time I got there, everyone already had agreed she was going into hospice at home now.\n\nI got to see my mother alive and sitting up talking only the day I got there. The rest of the week she was bed bound and resting as we visited around her. She passed away July 25th in the evening with my sister Lori being there for her and bidding her farewell. I'm really glad they got to have that.\n\nMy only plans were to come up and visit from monday - sunday. But because of the passing happening so quickly during hospice I decided to stay an extra week to attend her funeral and be there for my family.\n\nLearned a lot about my mom from second hand conversations. I'm having a lot of very complicated feelings about all of this right now. I left the day after the funeral to drive home. I am now safely at home just slowly unpacking the car from items I took from my childhood home. There is still a lot more there I need to retrieve, but because they are large furniture items we will have to take a moment and plan the next steps of how we're transporting it and where it will be stored until after our move next summer.
