"writing": "Chapter 47: The Reunion\n\nIt took a week for Dee and her friends to reach Santalune City, the closest city to the Galar border. As they had no desire to deal with the Death-Scyther near the town of Sloan for the moment. They passed through Sandstorm Valley and saw an expedition from the Followers of the Apocalypse hard at work excavating the remains of the Brotherhood of Plasma’s bunker. The whole way the group conversed little once Dee had established that she didn’t know anything about the mysterious Lucario-person Goemon that had invited her.\n\nAfter spending a night in Santalune’s still operating hotel, the Bison Steve, Dee stopped by the Kalos Express office at the crack of dawn to retrieve some needed survival gear: a wide brimmed hat, gloves, a scarf and goggles.\n\n“What’re those for? And a scarf? In the desert?” Crafty gave a confused look as Dee emerged and led them out of the city.\n\nDee wrapped the scarf around her neck then pulled the goggles around her forehead before she plopped the hat on her own head, “Galar has dangerous windstorms that’ll strip off your skin if you aren’t protected,” she pulled the gloves on, “My first trip there I was almost shredded. Back then I could regenerate, not so much now…”\n\nHelios put a comforting hand on her shoulder as they walked, “We’ll be right there with you and we’ll be fine, I promise.”\n\nDee smiled, “Thank you,” she and Helios shared a kiss.\n\n“Then I’m running back to get more for the rest of us,” Alex turned and ran back to the Kalos Express office.\n\n“Don’t bother for me!” Crafty called after the Ninetales-man.\n\nAlex caught up with the group not long after and handed out scarves, hats, gloves and goggles to everyone except Crafty, whose riot gear already had gloves and a full helmet.\n\nDee picked up the pace once Alex caught up. Even if the area around Santalune City was relatively safe the burning question about who Goemon was and why they invited her back to Galar drove her onwards and she nearly left her friends in the dust several times.\n\nIt was almost noon when Dee slowed down enough for a panting Helios to catch up. “Nervous?” he asked.\n\nDee slowed to a stop then nodded. “Yes. Even without this Goemon person, returning to Galar, seeing what’s become of it…” The shiny Lucario-woman took a deep shuddering breath as the canyon wreckage was just barely in sight now, “But I need to do this.”\n\nHelios was still panting and starting to sweat as he put a comforting hand on Dee’s shoulder. “We’ll be… right there… with you…”\n\n“Thank you.” Dee smiled and turned to give Helios a kiss, but stopped when she saw the state he was in. “Helios, what’s wrong?”\n\n“I feel… urg… feel something.” Helios shuddered and let out an angry growl. Dee heard similar sounds from their friends and saw them all in various states of discomfort, holding their chests and panting, except for ED-E who just hovered around emitting beeps of worry.\n\nFrankie looked up towards the canyon wreckage, his eyes flashing red as he felt the Mega Stone pulse against his chest, “See it! Red Aura! From there!” He pointed towards the wreckage.\n\nDee spun around and focused her aura sight at the canyon wreckage and saw a torrent of raging red aura flowing over the barrier. It flowed through her and she looked down to see she was absorbing it but all it did was tingle, something she’d felt one time before. A snarl of rage from behind her made Dee spin around and now she could see that all of them were absorbing the red aura, except for ED-E, and it was making their own auras start to rage and their eyes clouding over with red mist.\n\n“Down the hill! Now!” Dee shoved Helios which forced him to start moving down the hill and ran to each of them in turn and gave each a shove to get them moving. Once they were pushed, they all ran down the slope as fast as they could, away from the angry red aura.\n\nEveryone except for Dee and ED-E collapsed at the base of the incline, panting as the red mist faded from their vision and their aura’s calmed down.\n\n“ZANVIPER!” half-a-dozen of the Zangoose-Seviper hybrids had come across the group and, sensing a potential meal, charged. Dee was immediately in front of her friends and kicked the first Zanviper right under its jaw, snapping its neck. The other five tried to run around her but Dee conjured an aura bone and immediately struck out at the creatures with a Bone Rush, striking each once. ED-E took the initiative and shot a Thunderbolt at the closest one which fried it. One Zanviper jumped up and bit down on the Magnemite-bot’s body, only for its fangs to crack on the reinforced frame and get fried by another Thunderbolt. Dee had finished off the last three with strikes from her aura bone.\n\nOnce she was sure they were safe, Dee dissipated her aura bone and turned back to her friends. Helios was already on his feet and soon found himself being hugged by his mate.\n\n“Are you alright?” Dee whispered.\n\n“I am now,” Helios hugged her back, “Thank you.”\n\nFrankie had managed to get into a sitting position, “What was that… that aura?” he shuddered.\n\n“Dynamax energy,” Holly stood up and watched as Crafty helped Frankie to stand and Alex forced himself upright. “It’s a phenomenon only found in Galar that could increase the power and aggression of Pokemon but could also drive them insane with bloodlust, some species more than others.”\n\nFrankie pulled out his Mega Stone and held it up, “I felt this getting warm, like it was absorbing it.”\n\nCrafty was rubbing her chin, then suddenly snapped her fingers, “I remember! The scribes told us that Mega Stones were created using Dynamax Energy as a way to store and carry it outside Galar, but they had to refine the energy and key it to specific Pokemon species to enhance their power in a more controlled state, but it still could drive them berserk if used wrong.”\n\nAlex pounded his chest in an attempt to slow down his heartbeat, “I felt like I needed to rip someone apart!” he growled then shook his head, “Fuck! Is the whole region like that now?” He paused then looked at Dee who had stepped back from Helios, “Why weren’t you affected?”\n\nDee looked at her hands then clenched her fists, “I was there when the disaster happened, and I survived thanks to the Ultra-Parasite.” She touched her chest, where her spike used to be, “It died to save my life and my body adapted to the Dynamax energy as I dragged myself out of there. That’s also when I turned shiny.”\n\n“Or maybe because your only focus was survival you were able to suppress the rage until you dragged yourself out of there,” Alex folded his arms, “Last I tried to run a caravan through there it took a couple days to get from Hopeville to here. Maybe the Dynamax energy kept you awake long enough to get out.”\n\n“More likely the parasite kept her awake until you were safe,” Crafty gave Dee a look-over, “If it was willing to sacrifice itself to protect its host for its own sake then it would do anything, like pump up your adrenaline to keep you going.”\n\nThe memory she had briefly recalled came back to the forefront of Dee’s mind, “I’ve felt this before, in Big MT.” She looked up at the others, “Dr. Mobius’s lab had these huge red crystals around the entrance, he said they kept Pokemon and people away and that they came from Gallar.”\n\n“Gallar?” Alex gave Dee a lopsided look.\n\n“He probably meant Galar, Dr. Mobius was somewhat senile. When I walked past those crystals I felt the same kind of energy flowing into me and it felt weird but didn’t seem to affect me until…” Dee paused.\n\nHelios put a hand on Dee’s shoulder, “Until what?”\n\nDee gripped her arms and hugged herself, “Until I confronted the Think Tank. I was so angry and scared that I lost control! I saw red and all I could think to do was kill them!” Tears sprang from Dee’s eyes as she shuddered, needing Helios to keep her upright.\n\n“It sounds like you went Dynamax,” Holly’s expression turned shocked, “Those giant red crystals were probably containers for condensed Dynamax energy or maybe even crystallized Dynamax energy itself. If you can absorb it safely that would explain it.”\n\nAlex sighed, “Guess we can’t go to Galar.”\n\n“You can’t, I have to,” Dee forced herself to stop shaking and turned to look up the slope that led to The Divide.\n\n“Alone?” Helios gaped then hugged Dee from behind, suddenly feeling very helpless. “Dee… please don’t go alone… I don’t want to lose you.”\n\nDee easily parted his arms then stepped away and turned to face them, “I have to. I have to find out who this Goemon is, why that strange Lucario-person left a delivery for me that was supposed to get me killed, and… I need to see what happened to Galar.”\n\nED-E floated up to Dee, ‘not alone, I come’ it beeped.\n\nDee smiled, “ED-E? Right you’re a robot, the energy didn’t affect you like it did us.”\n\nCrafty tried to smile but failed, “Keep her safe, ED-E.”\n\nED-E beeped in acknowledgement.\n\nHelios stepped forwards and put his arms around Dee’s waist, “Just promise me.”\n\n“I’ll come back, I promise,” Dee leaned forwards and kissed Helios. It seemed to last forever before Dee let go.\n\nHolly raised a hand, “Dee, before you go how about you leave the power armor behind so I can work on it.”\n\n“Oh right, don’t want to haul that around The Divide.” Dee pulled off her backpack, which was overloaded from the power armor pieces that she carefully unloaded.\n\n“Here, you should take these too,” Holly handed over her stimpacks and food rations, including water.\n\n“Yeah, you’ll need these more than we will,” Alex pulled out his own medicine which included some Rad-Away and Rad-X he kept for emergencies. “I don’t know if there’s any food or clean water in The Divide.”\n\n“We’ll just stay in Santalune, there should still be vacancies at the Bison Steve,” Frankie assured Dee.\n\nDee gaped as everyone handed over their food, water and medical supplies. “Thank you, everyone.” She smiled and teared up as she loaded up her backpack. “I’ll be back. ED-E, let’s go.” Dee turned and headed back towards the blocked canyon with the Magnemite-bot floating at her side.\n\nThe group watched until the shiny Lucario-woman was almost out of sight then turned and headed back to Santalune City. Helios lingered for a minute before he turned and followed his friends.\n\nDee stood at the wreckage that blocked the canyon entrance to the Galarian Divide. The same graffiti was still painted all over the side of the bus that made up the center of the barrier.\n\nThe Divide\n\nCourier Six?\n\nYou can go home again, Courier\n\nLonesome Road\n\nDee pulled the goggles down over her eyes, “Ready, ED-E?” she wrapped the scarf around her muzzle.\n\n‘Ready’ the Magnemite-bot beeped in acknowledgement.\n\nDee opened the door of the bus that served as the only entrance and stepped through.\n\nThe blast of The Divide’s storms hit them full in the face, so much so that ED-E was driven back against the barrier. The Magnemite-bot tried to fly forwards but sudden gusts made it nearly impossible. Dee grabbed ED-E and forced her backpack open, “Just stay in here, ED-E, I’ll let you out when we’re past the storms.”\n\n‘thank you,’ ED-E beeped as the backpack zipped shut. Dee turned to face the storm and set off into the searing winds, the same searing winds that he had encountered the first time she came to Galar…\n\nShe remembered the unpleasant literal wake-up call on her first ever delivery, her face nearly getting sheared off because she hadn’t wrapped it up before she lay down to sleep. Her first arrival at Motostoke City and the Cinderace-woman and her four kids who had been so happy to receive a package from the father who was working in NKR territory. All those deliveries to make her living and Dee didn’t even notice the renewed life that had come to the city, so much that they renamed it “Hopeville”, until Cassandra pointed it out to her after a year of deliveries to and from Motostoke.\n\nCassandra, her martial arts master. She was a half-Lucario Braixen-woman with her ear hair cut short, black arms with silver disks on the back of her hands and her long hair styled to look like aura dreads. Cassandra had been a member of a tribe called the Auras, all Lucario-people except for her mother, an outsider Delphox-woman. Shortly after she evolved, she had been forced to flee in the night from an invading force, one Dee now knew had been Nobunaga’s Kogun. She had run along with the rest of the Riolu-children of their tribe, scattered across the wasteland.\n\nCassandra had been a martial arts teacher in Hopeville and had offered to train Dee in her tribe’s martial art “The Way of the Steel Hand” so whenever Dee’s deliveries brought her back to Galar, once every month or two, she would train diligently for a week before she left for more. She learned so much: aura senses, new non-fighting techniques and she still remembered how hard it had been to learn Aura Sphere, took her until the trip to Hisui to perfect the technique. The only thing she hadn’t learned was aura reinforcement, she learned that from Lloyd in Hisui.\n\nDee paused as she remembered something from Hisui: Joshua Graham had said one of the New Celestican missionaries had found a lost Riolu-boy that was looking for other lost ones like himself. Maybe…\n\nDee shook her head and pressed onwards.\n\nThings had gone well for a couple years, then things started to feel wrong. On her final visit to Hopeville the aura had been agitated, as Dee’s work in restoring the hope and commerce of Galar meant the NKR was using it as a supply route for their campaign in Kalos and were likely planning to annex the region. There had been tension and even anger directed everywhere when she passed through and while the city was still more brightly decorated, the whole thing had cast a shadow over the place. Now that she thought about it, most of the anger had come from fighting and normal type Poke-people.\n\nBut none of that mattered anymore… Shortly after she arrived, Cassandra had left on a trip and right after that… the disaster happened. Dee’s body hurt all over as she remembered the searing pain! The worst physical pain she’d ever felt in her life as her skin had started to literally melt off her while the Ultra-Parasite burned out its life to regenerate and hold her body together until she dragged her broken body out of the Galarian Divide and collapsed in Kalos, somehow left alive.\n\nAnd now she was returning down the very same road she had left, alone save for ED-E. She didn’t know what she’d find, only that she had to find the answers. She blinked away some tears in her goggles and grit her teeth behind the scarf as she pressed onwards into the Galarian Divide.\n",

Back then I could regenerate, not so much now&hellip;&rdquo;<br /><br />Helios put a comforting hand on her shoulder as they walked, &ldquo; We&rsquo;ll be right there with you and we&rsquo;ll be fine, I promise.&rdquo;<br /><br />Dee smiled, &ldquo;Thank you,&rdquo; she and Helios shared a kiss.<br /><br />&ldquo;Then I&rsquo;m running back to get more for the rest of us,&rdquo; Alex turned and ran back to the Kalos Express office.<br /><br />&ldquo;Don&rsquo;t bother for me!&rdquo; Crafty called after the Ninetales-man.<br /><br />Alex caught up with the group not long after and handed out scarves, hats, gloves and goggles to everyone except Crafty, whose riot gear already had gloves and a full helmet.<br /><br />Dee picked up the pace once Alex caught up. Even if the area around Santalune City was relatively safe the burning question about who Goemon was and why they invited her back to Galar drove her onwards and she nearly left her friends in the dust several times.<br /><br />It was almost noon when Dee slowed down enough for a panting Helios to catch up. &ldquo;Nervous?&rdquo; he asked.<br /><br />Dee slowed to a stop then nodded. &ldquo;Yes. Even without this Goemon person, returning to Galar, seeing what&rsquo;s become of it&hellip;&rdquo; The shiny Lucario-woman took a deep shuddering breath as the canyon wreckage was just barely in sight now, &ldquo; But I need to do this.&rdquo;<br /><br />Helios was still panting and starting to sweat as he put a comforting hand on Dee&rsquo;s shoulder. &ldquo; We&rsquo;ll be&hellip; right there&hellip; with you&hellip;&rdquo;<br /><br />&ldquo;Thank you.&rdquo; Dee smiled and turned to give Helios a kiss, but stopped when she saw the state he was in. &ldquo;Helios, what&rsquo;s wrong?&rdquo;<br /><br />&ldquo;I feel&hellip; urg&hellip; feel something.&rdquo; Helios shuddered and let out an angry growl. Dee heard similar sounds from their friends and saw them all in various states of discomfort, holding their chests and panting, except for ED-E who just hovered around emitting beeps of worry.<br /><br />Frankie looked up towards the canyon wreckage, his eyes flashing red as he felt the Mega Stone pulse against his chest, &ldquo;See it! Red Aura! From there!&rdquo; He pointed towards the wreckage.<br /><br />Dee spun around and focused her aura sight at the canyon wreckage and saw a torrent of raging red aura flowing over the barrier. It flowed through her and she looked down to see she was absorbing it but all it did was tingle, something she&rsquo;d felt one time before. A snarl of rage from behind her made Dee spin around and now she could see that all of them were absorbing the red aura, except for ED-E, and it was making their own auras start to rage and their eyes clouding over with red mist.<br /><br />&ldquo;Down the hill! Now!&rdquo; Dee shoved Helios which forced him to start moving down the hill and ran to each of them in turn and gave each a shove to get them moving. Once they were pushed, they all ran down the slope as fast as they could, away from the angry red aura.<br /><br />Everyone except for Dee and ED-E collapsed at the base of the incline, panting as the red mist faded from their vision and their aura&rsquo;s calmed down.<br /><br />&ldquo;ZANVIPER!&rdquo; half-a-dozen of the Zangoose-Seviper hybrids had come across the group and, sensing a potential meal, charged. One Zanviper jumped up and bit down on the Magnemite-bot&rsquo;s body, only for its fangs to crack on the reinforced frame and get fried by another Thunderbolt. Dee had finished off the last three with strikes from her aura bone.<br /><br />Once she was sure they were safe, Dee dissipated her aura bone and turned back to her friends. Helios was already on his feet and soon found himself being hugged by his mate.<br /><br />&ldquo;Are you alright?&rdquo; Dee whispered.<br /><br />&ldquo;I am now,&rdquo; Helios hugged her back, &ldquo;Thank you.&rdquo;<br /><br />Frankie had managed to get into a sitting position, &ldquo; What was that&hellip; that aura?&rdquo; he shuddered.<br /><br />&ldquo;Dynamax energy,&rdquo; Holly stood up and watched as Crafty helped Frankie to stand and Alex forced himself upright. &ldquo; It&rsquo;s a phenomenon only found in Galar that could increase the power and aggression of Pokemon but could also drive them insane with bloodlust, some species more than others.&rdquo;<br /><br />Frankie pulled out his Mega Stone and held it up, &ldquo;I felt this getting warm, like it was absorbing it.&rdquo;<br /><br />Crafty was rubbing her chin, then suddenly snapped her fingers, &ldquo;I remember! The scribes told us that Mega Stones were created using Dynamax Energy as a way to store and carry it outside Galar, but they had to refine the energy and key it to specific Pokemon species to enhance their power in a more controlled state, but it still could drive them berserk if used wrong.&rdquo;<br /><br />Alex pounded his chest in an attempt to slow down his heartbeat, &ldquo;I felt like I needed to rip someone apart!&rdquo; he growled then shook his head, &ldquo;Fuck! Is the whole region like that now?&rdquo; He paused then looked at Dee who had stepped back from Helios, &ldquo; Why weren&rsquo;t you affected?&rdquo;<br /><br />Dee looked at her hands then clenched her fists, &ldquo;I was there when the disaster happened, and I survived thanks to the Ultra-Parasite.&rdquo; She touched her chest, where her spike used to be, &ldquo; It died to save my life and my body adapted to the Dynamax energy as I dragged myself out of there. That&rsquo;s also when I turned shiny.&rdquo;<br /><br />&ldquo;Or maybe because your only focus was survival you were able to suppress the rage until you dragged yourself out of there,&rdquo; Alex folded his arms, &ldquo;Last I tried to run a caravan through there it took a couple days to get from Hopeville to here. Maybe the Dynamax energy kept you awake long enough to get out.&rdquo;<br /><br />&ldquo;More likely the parasite kept her awake until you were safe,&rdquo; Crafty gave Dee a look-over, &ldquo; If it was willing to sacrifice itself to protect its host for its own sake then it would do anything, like pump up your adrenaline to keep you going.&rdquo;<br /><br />The memory she had briefly recalled came back to the forefront of Dee&rsquo;s mind, &ldquo;I&rsquo;ve felt this before, in Big MT.&rdquo; She looked up at the others, &ldquo;Dr. Mobius&rsquo;s lab had these huge red crystals around the entrance, he said they kept Pokemon and people away and that they came from Gallar.&rdquo;<br /><br />&ldquo;Gallar?&rdquo; Alex gave Dee a lopsided look.<br /><br />&ldquo;He probably meant Galar, Dr. Mobius was somewhat senile. When I walked past those crystals I felt the same kind of energy flowing into me and it felt weird but didn&rsquo;t seem to affect me until&hellip;&rdquo; Dee paused.<br /><br />Helios put a hand on Dee&rsquo;s shoulder, &ldquo;Until what?&rdquo;<br /><br />Dee gripped her arms and hugged herself, &ldquo;Until I confronted the Think Tank. I was so angry and scared that I lost control! I saw red and all I could think to do was kill them!&rdquo; Tears sprang from Dee&rsquo;s eyes as she shuddered, needing Helios to keep her upright.<br /><br />&ldquo;It sounds like you went Dynamax,&rdquo; Holly&rsquo;s expression turned shocked, &ldquo; Those giant red crystals were probably containers for condensed Dynamax energy or maybe even crystallized Dynamax energy itself. If you can absorb it safely that would explain it.&rdquo;<br /><br />Alex sighed, &ldquo;Guess we can&rsquo;t go to Galar.&rdquo;<br /><br />&ldquo;You can&rsquo;t, I have to,&rdquo; Dee forced herself to stop shaking and turned to look up the slope that led to The Divide.<br /><br />&ldquo;Alone?&rdquo; Helios gaped then hugged Dee from behind, suddenly feeling very helpless. &ldquo;Dee&hellip; please don&rsquo;t go alone&hellip; I don&rsquo;t want to lose you.&rdquo;<br /><br />Dee easily parted his arms then stepped away and turned to face them, &ldquo;I have to. I have to find out who this Goemon is, why that strange Lucario-person left a delivery for me that was supposed to get me killed, and&hellip; I need to see what happened to Galar.&rdquo;<br /><br />ED-E floated up to Dee, &lsquo;not alone, I come&rsquo; it beeped.<br /><br />Dee smiled, &ldquo;ED-E? Right you&rsquo;re a robot, the energy didn&rsquo;t affect you like it did us.&rdquo;<br /><br />Crafty tried to smile but failed, &ldquo;Keep her safe, ED-E.&rdquo;<br /><br />ED-E beeped in acknowledgement.<br /><br />Helios stepped forwards and put his arms around Dee&rsquo;s waist, &ldquo;Just promise me.&rdquo;<br /><br />&ldquo;I&rsquo;ll come back, I promise,&rdquo; Dee leaned forwards and kissed Helios. It seemed to last forever before Dee let go.<br /><br />Holly raised a hand, &ldquo;Dee, before you go how about you leave the power armor behind so I can work on it.&rdquo;<br /><br />&ldquo;Oh right, don&rsquo;t want to haul that around The Divide.&rdquo; Dee pulled off her backpack, which was overloaded from the power armor pieces that she carefully unloaded.<br /><br />&ldquo;Here, you should take these too,&rdquo; Holly handed over her stimpacks and food rations, including water.<br /><br />&ldquo;Yeah, you&rsquo;ll need these more than we will,&rdquo; Alex pulled out his own medicine which included some Rad-Away and Rad-X he kept for emergencies. &ldquo;I don&rsquo;t know if there&rsquo;s any food or clean water in The Divide.&rdquo;<br /><br />&ldquo;We&rsquo;ll just stay in Santalune, there should still be vacancies at the Bison Steve,&rdquo; Frankie assured Dee.<br /><br />Dee gaped as everyone handed over their food, water and medical supplies. &ldquo;Thank you, everyone.&rdquo; She smiled and teared up as she loaded up her backpack. &ldquo;I&rsquo;ll be back. ED-E, let&rsquo;s go.&rdquo; Dee turned and headed back towards the blocked canyon with the Magnemite-bot floating at her side.<br /><br />The group watched until the shiny Lucario-woman was almost out of sight then turned and headed back to Santalune City. Helios lingered for a minute before he turned and followed his friends.<br /><br />Dee stood at the wreckage that blocked the canyon entrance to the Galarian Divide. The same graffiti was still painted all over the side of the bus that made up the center of the barrier.<br /><br />The Divide<br /><br />Courier Six?<br /><br />You can go home again, Courier<br /><br />Lonesome Road<br /><br />Dee pulled the goggles down over her eyes, &ldquo;Ready, ED-E?&rdquo; she wrapped the scarf around her muzzle.<br /><br />&lsquo;Ready&rsquo; the Magnemite-bot beeped in acknowledgement.<br /><br />Dee opened the door of the bus that served as the only entrance and stepped through.<br /><br />The blast of The Divide&rsquo;s storms hit them full in the face, so much so that ED-E was driven back against the barrier. The Magnemite-bot tried to fly forwards but sudden gusts made it nearly impossible. Dee grabbed ED-E and forced her backpack open, &ldquo;Just stay in here, ED-E, I&rsquo;ll let you out when we&rsquo;re past the storms.&rdquo;<br /><br />&lsquo;thank you,&rsquo; ED-E beeped as the backpack zipped shut. Dee turned to face the storm and set off into the searing winds, the same searing winds that he had encountered the first time she came to Galar&hellip;<br /><br />She remembered the unpleasant literal wake-up call on her first ever delivery, her face nearly getting sheared off because she hadn&rsquo;t wrapped it up before she lay down to sleep. Her first arrival at Motostoke City and the Cinderace-woman and her four kids who had been so happy to receive a package from the father who was working in NKR territory. All those deliveries to make her living and Dee didn&rsquo;t even notice the renewed life that had come to the city, so much that they renamed it &ldquo;Hopeville&rdquo;, until Cassandra pointed it out to her after a year of deliveries to and from Motostoke.<br /><br />Cassandra, her martial arts master. Shortly after she evolved, she had been forced to flee in the night from an invading force, one Dee now knew had been Nobunaga&rsquo;s Kogun. She had run along with the rest of the Riolu-children of their tribe, scattered across the wasteland.<br /><br />Cassandra had been a martial arts teacher in Hopeville and had offered to train Dee in her tribe&rsquo;s martial art &ldquo; The Way of the Steel Hand&rdquo; so whenever Dee&rsquo;s deliveries brought her back to Galar, once every month or two, she would train diligently for a week before she left for more. She learned so much: aura senses, new non-fighting techniques and she still remembered how hard it had been to learn Aura Sphere, took her until the trip to Hisui to perfect the technique. The only thing she hadn&rsquo;t learned was aura reinforcement, she learned that from Lloyd in Hisui.<br /><br />Dee paused as she remembered something from Hisui: Joshua Graham had said one of the New Celestican missionaries had found a lost Riolu-boy that was looking for other lost ones like himself. Maybe&hellip;<br /><br />Dee shook her head and pressed onwards.<br /><br />Things had gone well for a couple years, then things started to feel wrong. On her final visit to Hopeville the aura had been agitated, as Dee&rsquo;s work in restoring the hope and commerce of Galar meant the NKR was using it as a supply route for their campaign in Kalos and were likely planning to annex the region. There had been tension and even anger directed everywhere when she passed through and while the city was still more brightly decorated, the whole thing had cast a shadow over the place. Now that she thought about it, most of the anger had come from fighting and normal type Poke-people.<br /><br />But none of that mattered anymore&hellip; Shortly after she arrived, Cassandra had left on a trip and right after that&hellip; the disaster happened. Dee&rsquo;s body hurt all over as she remembered the searing pain! The worst physical pain she&rsquo;d ever felt in her life as her skin had started to literally melt off her while the Ultra-Parasite burned out its life to regenerate and hold her body together until she dragged her broken body out of the Galarian Divide and collapsed in Kalos, somehow left alive.<br /><br />And now she was returning down the very same road she had left, alone save for ED-E. She didn&rsquo;t know what she&rsquo;d find, only that she had to find the answers. She blinked away some tears in her goggles and grit her teeth behind the scarf as she pressed onwards into the Galarian Divide.<br /></span>",
