Dee returns to Kalos and re-unites with friends", "writing": "[u][center]Chapter 30: I Could Make You Care[/center][/u]\n\nThe walk back to Kalos was lonely. With no one to talk to all Dee could do was keep walking, then stop to eat and rest once a day. She didn’t bother to set up the tent at night, just used her backpack as a pillow. Her aura sense was strong enough that nothing was able to sneak up on her even when she was asleep. Every night before she lay down, Dee would use River Mothers’ mammary maintenance aura healing technique, Mother’s Gift, and practise use of Bulk Up and Calm Mind to give herself something to do.\n\nAfter a week, Dee found herself at the hot springs they had run across on their way to Hisui almost a month ago. Wanting some relief, Dee hopped down into the springs area and stripped down. She left her scrubs and gear on the shore of a spring and sank in, letting the heat sink down to her bones.\n\n“Ahhhh…” Dee sighed happily as she let her breasts float on the water’s surface, “Wish I had someone to share this with again.” She settled down and touched her breasts with Mother’s Gift, then she felt something squish between them. She stuck her hand in and pulled out the ice stone that Lloyd had given her. “Almost forgot about this,” she smirked at the stone, turned it over, then leaned back with it still in hand. “Just a short break.” She closed her eyes.\n\nAt some point, Dee had dozed off and she awoke in the early twilight hour. Though she wanted to stay longer, she stuffed the ice stone back between her breasts and climbed out. She slept naked as she dried off then redressed in the morning and set back off towards Kalos. She noticed her breasts felt heavier as she left, worried about sagging as Lloyd had mentioned she applied Mother’s gift to her breasts as she walked and continued to do so both before she went to bed and when she woke up for the remainder of the trip\n\nThe only time her trip was interrupted is when a pair of Death-Scyther hunting for food came across her while she slept. Dee sensed them and was on her feet as both let out cries and flew straight at her, giving her just enough time to Bulk Up before they both slashed at her. She took two hits, which only stung, then delivered a Blaze Kick to one which set it on fire. She spun around then Thunder Punched the second into the first, which knocked them down on top of each other. Dee finished the Death-Scythers off with a Flash Cannon that pierced through both. After she made sure they were both dead she continued on her trip, not wanting to sleep near the bodies lest other predators come for them.\n\nFinally, early in the morning after two weeks alone on the road, Dee found the entrance to the cave passage that led to Kalos. Relieved to be on the final leg of her journey, Dee picked up her pace once she was inside. When she got to the original point of departure Dee found two Rockruff-women with assault rifles there guarding the crate where non-essential possessions had been stored a month ago.\n\n One of the Rockruff-woman, Lucy, gave Dee a wary look, “Are you from the expedition?”\n\nDee nodded, “Yes.”\n\n“What’s your name?” the other Rockruff-woman, Amy, gave Dee an accusing look, “Where’s Jed and the rest of the expedition?”\n\nDee hung her head, “Jed and most of the expedition are dead, except Volca, who registered as Lauren, she stayed in Hisui. We did make contact with New Celestica and the tribes in the region: The Dead Bones, The Sorrows and even someone from the River Mothers.”\n\n“Really?” Lucy put her gun away and pulled out what Dee recognized as an old model hand-held Rotom-boy – there were several in the hands of various NKR organizations – which she held up to Dee’s arm, “Do you have the information in your Rotom-boy?”\n\nDee smiled, “I do, and the path and a couple other things.” She shared the data with Lucy’s Rotom-boy as she gave a quick summary of what happened in Hisui. As the story finished, Dee pointed to the location she’d marked on the map manually, “There’s natural hot springs here about halfway between here and Hisui. Could make a good stopover for supplies and rest for caravans.”\n\nAmy smiled, “Boss will love to hear about that. Not much but here’s some compensation for everything.” She passed Dee $100 in NKR money.\n\n“Sorry to hear about Jed, but he’d be happy that we can keep Happy Trails going.” Lucy put the handheld Rotom-boy away, “We’ll be able to send a better expedition now, hopefully it’ll all work out.”\n\n“Good luck.” Dee opened the storage crate and saw the red-trimmed black dress she’d left there a month ago. She picked it up which brought back memories of the Sierra Madre, and the bright spot in the middle of that shadow darkened city. “Holly…” She carefully stored the dress in her mostly empty backpack then pulled it back on. Now her only thought was to go and make sure the Zoroark-woman had survived the surgery she’d paid for a month ago. She double checked her Rotom-boy map then headed southeast.\n\nDee arrived at the clinic two days later at midday, just in time to see a robed Eevee-woman emerge from the front door. Dee smiled and she waved as se approached, “Crafty! I’m back!”\n\nCrafty turned and her face lit up, “Dee!” She ran to the shiny Lucario-woman and caught her in a big hug, “I missed you!” She planted a big kiss on Dee’s lips.\n\nDee blushed but reciprocated and hugged Crafty back. Once they stopped, Dee asked, “How’s Holly?”\n\nCrafty didn’t stop smiling, “She’s getting discharged today,” she turned around in time to see the Zoroark-woman exit the clinic.\n\nHolly had taken the time to get dressed before she exited and so was wearing the near form-fitting high-tech armor she had worn at the Sierra Madre. Her hair had started to grow back but was only the length of a buzz-cut.\n\nDee walked up to meet her, “Holly, is everything alright?”\n\nHolly smiled warmly at Dee, “Yes, everything’s better now.”\n\nDee just stared, “You can talk?” The voice wasn’t the fake Vera Keyes voice from the Madre, it wasn’t as high or ‘singsong’ as the long dead starlet’s and sounded much more natural to Holly’s frame.\n\nHolly touched her throat, there were some surgical scars there barely visible through her fur, “Thanks to you and the specialists they brought in.” She reached up to touch the fresher scars on her head, “I can talk, read and even make illusions and shapeshift again,” Her hair grew one centimeter longer.\n\n“Whoa, Holly, don’t overdo it,” Crafty was at her mate’s side and helping her stay upright, “The doctors said not to use any of those for a few days.”\n\nHolly smiled weakly, “Sorry, I’ll be good,” they kissed.\n\nCrafty looked at Holly then to Dee as a big grin spread across her face, “Say, since you need to take it easy and Dee’s probably had a long trip, how about I treat you two to a stay at the Ultra-Luxe in New Lumiose.”\n\n“Can you afford that?” Holly sounded surprised.\n\nCrafty laughed and tapped her head, “I used some of the extra money Dee left for me to get a probability calculator implant, and with my already fantastic luck I kinda… broke the bank at every casino in New Lumiose. Got banned from gambling there and the Ultra-Luxe gave me their Bon Vivant suite as a prize.” She took Holly’s hand then walked to Dee and took her hand, “Haven’t used it yet so I think the three of us should break it in.”\n\nDee let herself be led by Crafty, “Holly, how did they fix your brain and voice?”\n\nHolly had to think for a moment and scratched her chin with her free hand, “They brought in a Miltank-woman and an Alakazam-man, said they were the best surgeons in NKR. The Miltank-woman used heal bell after some throat surgery to restore my vocal cords since if you use healing techniques at the right points of surgery it can heal deeper wounds, that and some soft-boiled from Dr. Usanagi. As for my brain, that was more complicated. They had to sort of take it apart and put it back together and to keep me from becoming braindead they implanted a logic co-processor implant in my brain and that Alakazam-man surgeon used his psychic powers to kinda… move my memories and consciousness into the implant while they did the brain surgery. It wasn’t like being unconscious, more like a literal out-of-body experience but when it was all done and my mind was back in my body it was like being reborn.” She tapped her head and winced slightly, “They even let me keep the implant so now I can think even more clearly than I could before. Scars are still a little sore though.”\n\n“That’s amazing. I never thought that kind of healing could work,” Dee sighed in relief, “I’m just happy you’re both alright.”\n\n“Better than alright,” Crafty grinned and pulled both of them closer to her as they walked, “With the caps I won in Lumiose I was able to get us each another implant. I got an optic enhancer so I can see better than I ever could before.”\n\n“And I had them give me a reflex booster, mostly to help my stiff limbs limber up after a month barely moving from the surgery prep and recovery.” Holly sighed, “Better than the surgery they used to offer in the Bro-” the Zoroark-woman immediately clammed up.\n\n“The what?” Dee looked across to Holly, who looked away.\n\n“It’s alright, she can know,” Crafty’s voice suddenly because solemn, “that isolated community we used to belong to was The Brotherhood of Plasma.”\n\n“Used to?” Dee and Holly both asked at the same time.\n\nCrafty nodded and let go of their hands, continuing to walk as she told them, “The Brotherhood fragmented years ago, different factions weren’t able to agree on how to relate to the NKR or Aether when they emerged. The faction we were born into headed east into Kalos and set up a bunker in a hidden valley southwest here and dedicated themselves to ‘preserving technology’ or taking it from anyone they could find to keep it safe. Elijah became our elder until we tried to hold a solar power plant called Helios One against NKR, and lost badly. After that the new elder decided to lock the whole bunker down, with only long-term scouts being allowed to leave. After Holly left, I volunteered as a long-term scout so I could go outside, but really it was just an excuse to try and quit the Brotherhood. I wanted to join the Followers of the Apocalypse, since they do so much good for the wasteland as scientists and doctors,” she smiled over at Holly, “I found a scientific outpost and asked to join so I could share some of the technological knowledge I had from the Brotherhood and they were eager to accept me.” Crafty stopped and became silent.\n\nDee could feel the sadness and rage boiling up from Crafty as her jaw tightened, “What happened?”\n\n“After I joined, I left to give one more report so it would seem like I was still doing my job, but when I returned,” Crafty rubbed her eyes as she started to cry, “everyone was dead! And there were two Paladins from the Brotherhood there. They told me not to worry because ‘they wouldn’t force me to give up our secrets’ but I know what they really were saying: no one leaves the Brotherhood or gives away our secrets. They were watching me, I think that the only reason they didn’t execute me is because I was an Eevee, a rare type with endless potential, or so I was told after I hybridized. After that I just wandered, sent back reports and learned what I could about Kalos and the factions here until I ended up at the trading post, where I just stayed to learn about anything passing through and because Frankie told me I should wait there if I wanted to find my happiness again,” she took Holly’s hand, “and he was right.”\n\n“Is that why you were so nervous about taking Holly to the clinic?” Dee looked over at the two poke-women.\n\nCrafty nodded, her expression becoming downcast, “Yeah… I was so scared they would destroy the place and kill everyone if I set foot in another Followers building, but I had to take that risk. So I guarded the place every day and night to keep an eye out for anyone from the Brotherhood of Plasma, until I collapsed from exhaustion after a few days. When I woke up in the clinic and realized that a week had gone by without an attack I felt something was wrong. After I recovered, I decided to go to the bunker to see what had happened. When I got there… it was gone…”\n\n“Gone?” Holly stopped dead in her tracks, a look of disbelief on her face.\n\nCrafty turned to face her, “Gone. The place was caved in; it looked like someone set the reactor to overload. It hurt, it was my home for years even if I didn’t want to go back. But then I realized,” she smiled, “It mean we were free.”\n\n“Free?” Holly took Crafty’s hands in her own, “Free from the Brotherhood.”\n\nCrafty nodded, “Free to live our lives.”\n\nHolly smiled, “Free to love each other.”\n\nCrafty smiled back, “Free to do whatever we want.”\n\n“We’re free!” Holly pulled Crafty into a tight hug and kiss. Both Poke-women cried as they hugged and kissed, a mix of emotions spinning inside them: sorrow at the loss of the only home they’d every known, relief that they were no longer held back by their old way of life and above it all love for each other they could now express without anyone telling them it was wrong.\n\n“I love you.”\n\n“I love you too.”\n\nDee smiled as she watched them make out for a few minutes before the three of them finally resumed their journey to New Lumiose.\n\n“It was our home, but after Crafty hybridized it became so oppressive, or maybe it always was but we never realized it,” Holly leaned on Crafty and put an arm around the Eevee-woman’s middle.\n\n“I wasn’t sure if I’d want to return there, try to make it better or just stay on the run for the rest of my life,” Crafty sighed, her body seemed to deflate as they walked, “I’m kinda happy that someone took the choice out of our hands.”\n\n“Yeah,” Holly nodded then looked over at Dee, “So tell us, where were you for the last month?”\n\nDee laughed, “Well That’s quite a story, it started when I met an old friend as part of an expedition to Hisui…”\n\nOoOoO\n\nDee told the whole story as they walked to New Lumiose, even the intimate details of her and Volca’s relationship at Crafty’s encouragement. Both the Eevee-woman and Zoroark-woman listened intently on the walk to the gates of the wall around New Lumiose. Dee kept telling the story as they crossed through the Freeside slums; a couple muggers tried to attack the three but they were swiftly dealt with and left reeling in the street.\n\n“Reminds me of New Celadon,” Dee looked around, “But with walls.”\n\n“It’s not so bad, safe from raiders in here and there’s shelter, it used to be a lot worse until Mr. House took over. The Followers of the Apocalypse and the Kings want to do more but with the Kogun and NKR nearby they have their hands full just keeping the peace,” Crafty led them to the gates that blocked the way to the center of New Lumiose, which was guarded by two Porygon the size of cars.\n\nOne Porygon approached the group and its eyes seemed to scan them then spoke in a robotic voice, “ID recognized, are these two your guests?”\n\nCrafty grinned, “They are, Dee the Lucario-woman and Holly the Zoroark-woman.”\n\n“Processing,” the Porygon floated still for a moment, “IDs logged, welcome to the new Lumiose Strip.” It floated back to its guard post and let the three Poke-women walk past.\n\n“ID?” Holly asked.\n\n“Just to make sure no one who tried to rob or go on a killing spree gets access, used to be a big problem,” Crafty said as she led them down the street past three casinos: Lucky 38 which had a wide base and used to be the Prism Town, Gommorah with a flaming sign, and The Tops which had a spinning light display over the entrance. They hurried past so quickly that none of them noticed a Porygon with a cowboy hat and neckerchief try to float up to them, but unable to catch them before they beelined across the strip to the Ultra-Luxe casino which had a fountain out front and a classier design.\n\n“Before we go in, better try to hide any weapons or they’ll confiscate them,” Crafty said as they approached the front doors.\n\n“Is that what happened to your sniper rifle?” Dee asked, checking for the gun on the Eevee-woman’s back.\n\n“Nah, I sold it to help start my gambling fund,” Crafty grinned, “I’d say it paid off.”\n\n“Here, let me hide that handgun, Dee,” Holly offered a hand towards to the gun belt Dee still wore.\n\n“Oh right, this,” Dee handed the custom handgun Joshua had given to over to Holly, who stashed it on her person, along with her cosmic knife, before they opened the doors.\n\nThe inside of the Ultra-Luxe casino was the very definition of high class, elegantly decorated in white and black marble as if it had never been touched by the war. The owners and staff, the White Glove Society, were all Mawile-people, the men in tuxedos and the women in dresses and all of them wearing golden-trimmed white masks on their faces and white gloves. The jaw-like horns of their species still hung out which made the high-class environment feel unnerving. Chapter 30: I Could Make You Care


The walk back to Kalos was lonely. With no one to talk to all Dee could do was keep walking, then stop to eat and rest once a day. She didn’t bother to set up the tent at night, just used her backpack as a pillow. Her aura sense was strong enough that nothing was able to sneak up on her even when she was asleep. Every night before she lay down, Dee would use River Mothers’ mammary maintenance aura healing technique, Mother’s Gift, and practise use of Bulk Up and Calm Mind to give herself something to do.

After a week, Dee found herself at the hot springs they had run across on their way to Hisui almost a month ago. Wanting some relief, Dee hopped down into the springs area and stripped down. She left her scrubs and gear on the shore of a spring and sank in, letting the heat sink down to her bones.

Finally, early in the morning after two weeks alone on the road, Dee found the entrance to the cave passage that led to Kalos. Relieved to be on the final leg of her journey, Dee picked up her pace once she was inside. When she got to the original point of departure Dee found two Rockruff-women with assault rifles there guarding the crate where non-essential possessions had been stored a month ago.

 One of the Rockruff-woman, Lucy, gave Dee a wary look, “Are you from the expedition?”

Dee nodded, “Yes.”

“What’s your name?” the other Rockruff-woman, Amy, gave Dee an accusing look, “Where’s Jed and the rest of the expedition?”

Dee hung her head, “Jed and most of the expedition are dead, except Volca, who registered as Lauren, she stayed in Hisui. We did make contact with New Celestica and the tribes in the region: The Dead Bones, The Sorrows and even someone from the River Mothers.”

“Really?” Lucy put her gun away and pulled out what Dee recognized as an old model hand-held Rotom-boy – there were several in the hands of various NKR organizations – which she held up to Dee’s arm, “Do you have the information in your Rotom-boy?”

Dee smiled, “I do, and the path and a couple other things.” She shared the data with Lucy’s Rotom-boy as she gave a quick summary of what happened in Hisui. As the story finished, Dee pointed to the location she’d marked on the map manually, “There’s natural hot springs here about halfway between here and Hisui. Could make a good stopover for supplies and rest for caravans.”

Amy smiled, “Boss will love to hear about that. Not much but here’s some compensation for everything.” She passed Dee $100 in NKR money.

“Sorry to hear about Jed, but he’d be happy that we can keep Happy Trails going.” Lucy put the handheld Rotom-boy away, “We’ll be able to send a better expedition now, hopefully it’ll all work out.”

“Good luck.” Dee opened the storage crate and saw the red-trimmed black dress she’d left there a month ago. She picked it up which brought back memories of the Sierra Madre, and the bright spot in the middle of that shadow darkened city. “Holly…” She carefully stored the dress in her mostly empty backpack then pulled it back on. Now her only thought was to go and make sure the Zoroark-woman had survived the surgery she’d paid for a month ago. She double checked her Rotom-boy map then headed southeast.

Dee arrived at the clinic two days later at midday, just in time to see a robed Eevee-woman emerge from the front door. Dee smiled and she waved as se approached, “Crafty! I’m back!”

Crafty turned and her face lit up, “Dee!” She ran to the shiny Lucario-woman and caught her in a big hug, “I missed you!” She planted a big kiss on Dee’s lips.

Dee blushed but reciprocated and hugged Crafty back. Once they stopped, Dee asked, “How’s Holly?”

Crafty didn’t stop smiling, “She’s getting discharged today,” she turned around in time to see the Zoroark-woman exit the clinic.

Holly had taken the time to get dressed before she exited and so was wearing the near form-fitting high-tech armor she had worn at the Sierra Madre. Her hair had started to grow back but was only the length of a buzz-cut.

Dee walked up to meet her, “Holly, is everything alright?”

Holly smiled warmly at Dee, “Yes, everything’s better now.”

Dee just stared, “You can talk?” The voice wasn’t the fake Vera Keyes voice from the Madre, it wasn’t as high or ‘singsong’ as the long dead starlet’s and sounded much more natural to Holly’s frame.

Holly touched her throat, there were some surgical scars there barely visible through her fur, “Thanks to you and the specialists they brought in.” She reached up to touch the fresher scars on her head, “I can talk, read and even make illusions and shapeshift again,” Her hair grew one centimeter longer.

“Can you afford that?” Holly sounded surprised.

Crafty laughed and tapped her head, “I used some of the extra money Dee left for me to get a probability calculator implant, and with my already fantastic luck I kinda… broke the bank at every casino in New Lumiose. Got banned from gambling there and the Ultra-Luxe gave me their Bon Vivant suite as a prize.” She took Holly’s hand then walked to Dee and took her hand, “Haven’t used it yet so I think the three of us should break it in.”

Dee let herself be led by Crafty, “Holly, how did they fix your brain and voice?”

Holly had to think for a moment and scratched her chin with her free hand, “They brought in a Miltank-woman and an Alakazam-man, said they were the best surgeons in NKR. The Miltank-woman used heal bell after some throat surgery to restore my vocal cords since if you use healing techniques at the right points of surgery it can heal deeper wounds, that and some soft-boiled from Dr. Usanagi. As for my brain, that was more complicated. They had to sort of take it apart and put it back together and to keep me from becoming braindead they implanted a logic co-processor implant in my brain and that Alakazam-man surgeon used his psychic powers to kinda… move my memories and consciousness into the implant while they did the brain surgery. It wasn’t like being unconscious, more like a literal out-of-body experience but when it was all done and my mind was back in my body it was like being reborn.” She tapped her head and winced slightly, “They even let me keep the implant so now I can think even more clearly than I could before. Scars are still a little sore though.”

“That’s amazing. I never thought that kind of healing could work,” Dee sighed in relief, “I’m just happy you’re both alright.”

“Better than alright,” Crafty grinned and pulled both of them closer to her as they walked, “With the caps I won in Lumiose I was able to get us each another implant. I got an optic enhancer so I can see better than I ever could before.”

“And I had them give me a reflex booster, mostly to help my stiff limbs limber up after a month barely moving from the surgery prep and recovery.” Holly sighed, “Better than the surgery they used to offer in the Bro-” the Zoroark-woman immediately clammed up.

“The what?” Dee looked across to Holly, who looked away.

“It’s alright, she can know,” Crafty’s voice suddenly because solemn, “that isolated community we used to belong to was The Brotherhood of Plasma.”

“Used to?” Dee and Holly both asked at the same time.

Crafty nodded and let go of their hands, continuing to walk as she told them, “The Brotherhood fragmented years ago, different factions weren’t able to agree on how to relate to the NKR or Aether when they emerged. The faction we were born into headed east into Kalos and set up a bunker in a hidden valley southwest here and dedicated themselves to ‘preserving technology’ or taking it from anyone they could find to keep it safe. Elijah became our elder until we tried to hold a solar power plant called Helios One against NKR, and lost badly. After that the new elder decided to lock the whole bunker down, with only long-term scouts being allowed to leave. After Holly left, I volunteered as a long-term scout so I could go outside, but really it was just an excuse to try and quit the Brotherhood. I wanted to join the Followers of the Apocalypse, since they do so much good for the wasteland as scientists and doctors,” she smiled over at Holly, “I found a scientific outpost and asked to join so I could share some of the technological knowledge I had from the Brotherhood and they were eager to accept me.” Crafty stopped and became silent.

Dee could feel the sadness and rage boiling up from Crafty as her jaw tightened, “What happened?”

“After I joined, I left to give one more report so it would seem like I was still doing my job, but when I returned,” Crafty rubbed her eyes as she started to cry, “everyone was dead! And there were two Paladins from the Brotherhood there. They told me not to worry because ‘they wouldn’t force me to give up our secrets’ but I know what they really were saying: no one leaves the Brotherhood or gives away our secrets. They were watching me, I think that the only reason they didn’t execute me is because I was an Eevee, a rare type with endless potential, or so I was told after I hybridized. After that I just wandered, sent back reports and learned what I could about Kalos and the factions here until I ended up at the trading post, where I just stayed to learn about anything passing through and because Frankie told me I should wait there if I wanted to find my happiness again,” she took Holly’s hand, “and he was right.”

“Is that why you were so nervous about taking Holly to the clinic?” Dee looked over at the two poke-women.

Crafty nodded, her expression becoming downcast, “Yeah… I was so scared they would destroy the place and kill everyone if I set foot in another Followers building, but I had to take that risk. So I guarded the place every day and night to keep an eye out for anyone from the Brotherhood of Plasma, until I collapsed from exhaustion after a few days. When I woke up in the clinic and realized that a week had gone by without an attack I felt something was wrong. After I recovered, I decided to go to the bunker to see what had happened. When I got there… it was gone…”

“Gone?” Holly stopped dead in her tracks, a look of disbelief on her face.

Crafty turned to face her, “Gone. The place was caved in; it looked like someone set the reactor to overload. It hurt, it was my home for years even if I didn’t want to go back. But then I realized,” she smiled, “It mean we were free.”

“Free?” Holly took Crafty’s hands in her own, “Free from the Brotherhood.”

Crafty nodded, “Free to live our lives.”

Holly smiled, “Free to love each other.”

Crafty smiled back, “Free to do whatever we want.”

“We’re free!” Holly pulled Crafty into a tight hug and kiss. “I wasn’t sure if I’d want to return there, try to make it better or just stay on the run for the rest of my life,” Crafty sighed, her body seemed to deflate as they walked, “I’m kinda happy that someone took the choice out of our hands.”

“Yeah,” Holly nodded then looked over at Dee, “So tell us, where were you for the last month?”

Dee laughed, “Well That’s quite a story, it started when I met an old friend as part of an expedition to Hisui…”

The Followers of the Apocalypse and the Kings want to do more but with the Kogun and NKR nearby they have their hands full just keeping the peace,” Crafty led them to the gates that blocked the way to the center of New Lumiose, which was guarded by two Porygon the size of cars.

One Porygon approached the group and its eyes seemed to scan them then spoke in a robotic voice, “ID recognized, are these two your guests?”

Crafty grinned, “They are, Dee the Lucario-woman and Holly the Zoroark-woman.”

“Processing,” the Porygon floated still for a moment, “IDs logged, welcome to the new Lumiose Strip.” It floated back to its guard post and let the three Poke-women walk past.

“ID?” Holly asked.

“Just to make sure no one who tried to rob or go on a killing spree gets access, used to be a big problem,” Crafty said as she led them down the street past three casinos: Lucky 38 which had a wide base and used to be the Prism Town, Gommorah with a flaming sign, and The Tops which had a spinning light display over the entrance. They hurried past so quickly that none of them noticed a Porygon with a cowboy hat and neckerchief try to float up to them, but unable to catch them before they beelined across the strip to the Ultra-Luxe casino which had a fountain out front and a classier design.

“Before we go in, better try to hide any weapons or they’ll confiscate them,” Crafty said as they approached the front doors.

“Is that what happened to your sniper rifle?” Dee asked, checking for the gun on the Eevee-woman’s back.

“Nah, I sold it to help start my gambling fund,” Crafty grinned, “I’d say it paid off.”

“Here, let me hide that handgun, Dee,” Holly offered a hand towards to the gun belt Dee still wore.

“Oh right, this,” Dee handed the custom handgun Joshua had given to over to Holly, who stashed it on her person, along with her cosmic knife, before they opened the doors.

The inside of the Ultra-Luxe casino was the very definition of high class, elegantly decorated in white and black marble as if it had never been touched by the war. The owners and staff, the White Glove Society, were all Mawile-people, the men in tuxedos and the women in dresses and all of them wearing golden-trimmed white masks on their faces and white gloves.
