He looked up at Gertrude as she approached, “Hey, Gertrude, your egg alright?”\n\nGertrude nodded and rubbed the egg, “Right here. Are you alright?”\n\n“I will be, just gotta rest till the concussion heals.” He reached up and winced before he could touch his head. “Sorry I couldn’t protect your egg. Someone knocked on the door and when I went to answer I was bashed on the head. Next thing I knew I woke up here.”\n\n“Not your fault, I didn’t think the senator would find out I revealed his plans and hold it for ransom,” Gertrude rubbed her egg again, “but it’s safe with me again. I still want you to be the godfather if you’re willing.”\n\nJeremy did his best to smile, “I am, I should be out of here in a day or two.”\n\n“Gertrude, the General wants to meet with us,” Lieutenant Zade stood at the entrance to the infirmary and motioned for her to follow.\n\n“Gotta go. Please get better,” Gertrude pleaded before she left, egg still clutched tight to her chest.\n\nGertrude was the last to arrive in the General’s office and took a seat, egg still clutched to her chest. “Just needed to see my friend.”\n\n“Aright, then let’s get started,” General Silverman nodded to Ranger Kerry Vargas, who still wore her armor. “I’ve been receiving reports for the last few days about Mewtwo and strange mutations attacking patrols and fighting with Raiders.”\n\n“I sent some of my rangers out to find Captain Jameson’s caravan to help them get back as soon as possible,” Kerry spoke up, “Until then it’s best we hunker down and wait for them.”\n\nGeneral Silverman nodded, “Agreed. I examined the reinforcements and they’re good enough but they weren’t expecting to be thrown into a battle like this right away, they didn’t bring enough ordinance for this kind of fight. Which means we’re stuck waiting for Captain Jameson to return. Lieutenant Zade, can you give an assessment of what he’s bringing back?”\n\nZade had to think for a moment, “A rough estimate but 80% of what we retrieved was ammunition and explosives.”\n\n“Write me up a report later then,” the general’s order made Zade groan which he didn’t comment on as he turned to the others, “Do you have anything else to report about what happened at Fort Daggerpoint?”\n\nDee looked down and touched right above her stomach again. “They wanted me for something they said is inside me. I don’t know what exactly but the Mewtwo lured me into a trap to try and take me alive.”\n\nGeneral Silverman leaned forwards, “Do you have any idea what it is?”\n\nGertrude raised a hand, “I have a hypothesis: whatever it is might be the source of Dee’s regeneration. I gave her a once over this morning and the burn scars she used to have are all healed; even her aura-dread doesn’t have a scar from where it was severed.”\n\n“Excuse me,” Helios raised a hand, “but what’s this deal with these… Mewtwo Pokemon? We never heard of them from the Vault’s database.”\n\nMelany nodded, “Same, I heard something about them years ago but I never met one before.”\n\nGeneral Silverman sat back, “I’ll give a brief history then: Someone who called themselves 'The Master', no idea what his actual name was, tried to conquer the wasteland using an army of Mewtwos until he was stopped by a heroic vault dweller and a Brotherhood of Plasma Knight named Helios.\"\n\nHelios jumped, “You mean the same one my tribe named me for?”\n\nRanger Vargas looked the Charmeleon-man up and down, “Most likely yes. We don’t have many clear records from back then. That was before The Desert Rangers formed and a lot of records were a mess because of the instability of the Kanto Region.”\n\n“Regardless, the remnants of The Master’s army that survived just broke apart without their leadership. There are some that live in NKR territory but the rest headed East. I didn’t expect we’d encounter them out here.” General Silverman shook his head, “But as for those other mutants you described, I have no idea what they are. Until then I suggest you rest to get ready for whatever is about to come.”\n\n“Meanwhile we need to find every soldier that was on Senator DuVille’s personal payroll so we don’t have to deal with anyone wanting to take revenge for these recent events,” Ranger Vargas turned to the rest, “Anyone here good with computers?”\n\nDee raised her hand, “I am.”\n\nKerry smiled behind her helmet, “Then please help me hack his computer and access his payroll and personal notes before you leave. If they’re desperate or crazy enough they might go after you once they find out what happened.”\n\nDee nodded then got up and followed Ranger Vargas to the dead senator’s office. Within an hour Dee had hacked the passwords out of the machine and left the Ranger to deal with the information.\n\nOoOoO\n\nA week later in the early evening there was a frantic knocking at Gertrude’s door. Dee was the closest so she answered to find Lieutenant Zade standing there.\n\n“Annai just returned, she wants to see you, Dee,” Zade glared back over his shoulder for a moment.\n\n“Just her, or are we all invited,” Helios joined Dee at the door.\n\n“You should all see this, just meet us at the Dubwool Shack,” Zade left them to get up and ready.\n\nThey all came, even Gertrude who had spent most of free time just lying in bed curled around her egg while worried that there would be someone who supported the senator who would try to smash it out of revenge or spite. Naturally she refused to let it out of her sight and instead had Molly make a harness she could wear to carry it everywhere, which she pulled on before joining everyone at the shack.\n\nThe Dubwool Shack was empty of normal customers, instead there were half-a-dozen armed NKR soldiers at the edges of the room and Annai who sat at a table in the middle of the room.\n\nEveryone gasped when they saw her and Dee was the first to approach, “Annai? What happened to you?”\n\nThe human woman’s hair and face were the same, neon-red right-eye included, but the rest of her body was deformed. Annai’s torso and arms now bulged with muscles and her skin had turned bright red. She seemed to throb with power for a moment before she spoke, her voice now higher pitched.\n\n“My Ultra-Parasite is growing stronger, but it looks like yours is under control,” Annai drained the glass in front of her, accidentally cracking the glass as she set it down.\n\n“Ultra-Parasite, you mean that’s what’s inside me!?” Dee stumbled a bit but Helios slid a chair behind he so she could sit down.\n\n“What’s inside the both of you?” Gertrude stepped back as she looked from Dee to Annai.\n\nZade grumbled and pulled out a clipboard and pen, “You’d better tell us everything we’re dealing with, Annai.”\n\n“Doesn’t The General want to hear this?” Annai looked at the Jolteon-man.\n\n“I’ll give him the report, since I guess I’m stuck as his secretary now,” his comment raised a few chuckles from the soldiers.\n\nDee had recovered enough to speak, “What happened to you back at the Fort? You helped me escape then you were gone.”\n\n“I ran through that door the Ultra-hybrids were exiting from. They were after you and because of my parasite they ignored me.” Annai shook her head, “I’m sorry but I had to take my chance to get in there and find answers, unfortunately getting that close accelerated my parasite’s growth.”\n\n“What’s all this Ultra stuff?” Melany asked.\n\n“The result of a pre-war project called Project Alola,” Annai had to clear her throat before she continued, “The project was spearheaded by Aether Enclave Science Director Lusamine to study a strange phenomenon called ‘Ultra Space’ and its inhabitants the ‘Ultra Beasts’: Pokemon-like creatures that had incredible power that she believed could be harnessed to grant humans immortality. Her first experiment opened a wormhole that brought an Ultra Beast through that she named ‘UB-1 Symbiont’ that merged with her and slowed her aging, which is why she’s still alive. The energy needed for the wormhole was too much for Aether to divert more resources to her so she instead studied how they reproduced and found out that outside Ultra Space they could infect other creatures with a parasite that would slowly take over their body and change them into an Ultra Beast; the parasites could be brought through with a fraction of the energy needed for a full beast. In our world the Ultra Beasts can regenerate almost any injury if they aren’t completely dead so their hosts have the same advantage if it takes successfully and if it doesn’t then it results in those half-mutated monsters that pursued you out of the fort, strong but easy to put down. It also repels and destroys any foreign organisms that enter the body which keeps you free from disease and radiation.”\n\nGertrude looked at Dee then down at her egg in its harness held next to her stomach, “That would be why Dee hasn’t gotten pregnant, the parasite probably sees the sperm as just another hostile entity.”\n\nDee was trying to keep her growing anxiety under control as she asked, “Am I going to turn into one too?”\n\n“I don’t know,” Annai folded her newly muscular arms as best she could, “all the subjects I’ve seen were humans, you’re the first Pokemon or Poke-person I’ve found out had a parasite. Mother would know more.”\n\n“Mother? Who’s your mother?” Dee’s eyes widened, “Wait… does that mean Lusamine is The Mother Beast the Mewtwo were talking about? Is she your mother?”\n\nAnnai nodded, “That’s what they call her now that she’s fused with the symbiote Ultra Beast. And I think she is, but I don’t know for certain.”\n\n“How can you not know?” Helios gave Annai and accusing glare.\n\n“That goes back to the pre-war period. Lusamine had a daughter named Lillie that she experimented on and has been creating numerous clones to try and get the results she’s looking for. Guzma and Plumeria are two of those clones and maybe I am too,” Annai touched her head, and winced as she put a little too much force into it. “I might be the original Lillie or a clone with implanted memories, everything’s a blur past a certain point. Either way our parasites are growing stronger now so we’re going to turn into complete Ultra Beasts especially if Lusamine’s plan succeeds.”\n\nZade finally looked up from where he had been taking notes on the whole meeting, “And what is her plan?”\n\n“She’s found a way to open a new wormhole to Ultra Space so she can bring more Ultra Beasts through, with a machine called the Cosmoen Engine. She thinks she can control them or at least unleash them on the wasteland to destroy the NKR. I don’t know long until she’s ready but after Dee escaped she’s accelerating her plans.”\n\n“Is that everything? Did you see any Pokeballs or power armor there?” Zade questioned.\n\nAnnai had to think for a moment, “No, in fact I didn’t see many Aether Enclave people there and not much of Team Skull either, just a few Mewtwo and those Ultra Hybrid failures. The Aether Enclave is running on fumes and they spent a lot of their resources on their infiltration and attack on Vault 18. Lusamine is putting everything they have left into Project Alola.”\n\n“If that’s all I’ll deliver this report to General Silverman,” Zade turned and left, “People, return to your duties but keep an eye on Annai.”\n\nMelany waited until the soldiers had left before she spoke, “That’s gratitude for you.”\n\n“They have every right to watch me. I can feel the parasite’s mind clawing at mine, telling me to feed.” She took a deep shuddering breath, “I want all of you to promise me something: when the parasite overwhelms me and if I can’t stop the Cosmeon Engine then please kill me and make sure you reduce my body to nothing so it doesn’t regenerate.”\n\nThey all stared at Annai in shock and Gertrude was the first to speak, “Are you sure there isn’t a way to save you from it?”\n\n“If there was it would before these mutations started,” Annai flexed her arm which bulged with red muscles, “I need to put a stop to mother’s work before I die.”\n\nDee gulped, “Alright, we will.” She stood up and headed for Gertrude’s house with Helios following right behind her.\n\n“Dee are you alright?” Helios’ question made Dee stop in the middle of the main street.\n\n“No.” Dee placed a hand on her stomach, “I have something inside me that could turn me into one of those Ultra Beast monsters we saw back at the fort and no way to know if I can stop it! I’m scared, Helios,” she crossed her hands across her chest, not able to fully cross past her breasts.\n\nHelios put his arms around her from behind and over Dee’s stomach, “I won’t let that happen, I promise you won’t turn into an Ultra Beast.”\n\nDee wanted to say she didn’t know how Helios could promise that, but his warm embrace reassured her and she leaned back up against him. “Thank you.”\n\nOoOoO\n\nZade stood in front of General Silverman’s desk after he finished the report and handed the written account to him. Finally, the general spoke, “We need to destroy Fort Daggerpoint.” He looked up at the Jolteon-man who did his best to keep calm face, “As soon as Captain Jameson returns we’re going to arm up and plan for an assault on the fort. Without knowing Lusamine’s timetable we have to strike as soon as possible, if she opens that wormhole we’re all screwed.”\n\nZade nodded, “I understand, Sir. Any further orders?”\n\nThe Aggron-man nodded, “Yes, ask Helios if he can contact the Moltres’ Embers tribe and convince them to join our assault. Their lives are just as much at risk so hopefully it won’t take much convincing.”\n\nZade saluted, “Yes Sir. I’ll ask them first thing in the morning.”\n",
