The Rise of Entropy Part 3 “Okay, so: what do we know about this guy?” asked Sonic, wanting to devise a strategy with Silver to take down his foe. “Gravity powers. Nearly unstoppable. Severe case of multiple personality disorder. Only hope to stop him is to tire him out and pray we don’t get crushed to death. That’s about all we have.” Silver listed everything he knew plus the theory that Sonic had and that began to make more sense in his head as time grew by. “Well, if that’s what we have to work with, is there anything else? I can catch him by surprise but I can’t see how he’ll use those gravity fields. If I had a way of telling where he’d be using them, I could have a chance to wear him down.” Sonic mused. “Wait! I can! I can sense his attacks since the way he uses them is similar to how I use my psychokinesis. If I relay my vision to you, then you’ll be able to tell where he uses it!” said Silver. “Neat! But… How can we do that?” asked Sonic. “Like this.” replied the psychic hero, making his hand glow cyan and placing it on Sonic’s forehead. “WOAH!” Sonic yelped. He felt like a rush of energy flowing straight to his brain, allowing him to link his vision with Silver’s. “It’s incredible! I can, like, see what you see! …Huh, is there something in my teeth?” he asked, picking it up. “Focus. I can only keep this up so long as we’re both able to maintain the connection. If either of us gets hit too hard, that focus will break and then I’d have to do this over again. So we both have to be careful.” said Silver, moving his hand away. “Gotcha, snowflake! Now, let’s see… Where could Eggman have retreated to?” asked Sonic, tapping his foot a bit. “There’s too many of his bases around this area, he could be anywhere…” “True… but not knowing where he is can be a good thing. Because that means that HE doesn’t know either. This’ll buy us some time as I convert the radars to pick up his energy.” said Silver, now his optimistic side was showing again, along with his tech-savvy side too. “Okay! You do that, I’ll do a quick recon. Don’t worry, I won’t engage him or Eggman. I’ll just check the bases to try and find out where he is before Entropy.” said Sonic, showing his thumbs up. “Sounds like a plan.” replied Silver, doing the same gesture back to him. Sonic nodded and dashed off, while Silver flew on top of the base and began to rework the radars to pick up the wolf’s power signature. Meanwhile, Entropy had arrived near a small settlement built around one of Eggman’s old missile hangars and had started tearing it to shreds, hoping to find something that would lead him to his current position. “WHERE. IS IT?!” he shouted, lifting and crushing everything in his path. The inhabitants of the settlement fled and screamed in fear as the very ground beneath their feet cracked and floated in every direction. “I’m losing my patience. WHERE IS DR EGGMAN?! I KNOW YOU’RE HIDING AROUND HERE SOMEWHERE, YOU FILTHY ANIMAL!!” The wolf roared and, as he did, emitted a powerful gravity burst which pushed everyone and everything away from him. One of the inhabitants got up on his knees, coughing, then he got enveloped in Entropy’s ominous green aura and brought to his presence. The wolf floated in midair, his arms crossed to his chest and his hair flowing with the wind. “Start talking. This was one of his hangars. You must know where he is!” yelled Entropy. “I… I don’t-” the scared Mobian didn’t even finish his sentence as Entropy clenched his fist and the horrid sound of his victim’s bones being crushed terrified the others. “Wrong answer.” the wolf said maliciously before tossing the poor soul away. “Let THIS be a warning! If you don’t tell me where he is, I will crush every single pathetic life in this settlement!” “What are you doing?! They’re not doing anything to us!” Franklin yelled in their mind. “They’re too afraid to tell us anything. So we have to make them more afraid of something else to motivate someone to tell us. Right now, Franklin, half measures are no longer affordable to us. The Restoration Force is hunting us. And Sonic will arrive any time now. So we must act and think faster than our enemies.” Entropy scoffed, pointing at the villagers. “There must be another way… This isn’t what my wife-” “She’s not here anymore. I’m all you have now. I’ve kept us alive so far, and I even saved you from Shadow. Just let me guide us to our revenge and soon enough, we will have our lives back again.” Entropy interrupted his other half. “...” Franklin didn’t say another word. In his twisted way, Entropy was right. He saved him, protected him, made him stronger than he could’ve possibly imagined. With his silence, he gave compliance to Entropy’s masacre. The wolf smirked under the mask and looked back at the terrified citizen. “Now… where were we?” he said, chuckling a bit, his glasses shimmering and reflecting his victims’ terrified faces. Meanwhile, Sonic had already looked through three of the ten bases surrounding the area, but all of which turned either empty or just full of scraps. “Darn! This one’s empty too, bud!” he said in his earpiece, connected to Silver. “Crap… Keep looking. I’m almost done with the modifications!” Silver replied, tinkering with the radars so that they could find Entropy. Sonic nodded and moved towards the next base. (C’mooooon… C’mooooooon…) he groaned as he got in front of it. He forced the doors open and dashed inside, but found nothing but dust and old computers long deactivated. “...DARN! Where the heck is this guy?!” Sonic groaned again, kicking a pebble towards one of the computers. Doing so, however, accidentally turned it on. “...Huh.” Sonic shrugged and dashed towards it. “Silv, maybe I got something.” he said in the ear piece. “A lead?” asked Silver, being done with the final touches. “Maybe even better. One of his computers is turned on. Maybe I can use it to pinpoint his location!” said Sonic, getting behind the keyboard. “Woah… You can actually do that?!” asked Silver, shocked. “Hey, I originally made the Tornado, I’m not THAT helpless with technology. Besides, you work with Tails long enough… you still won’t be as good as him with this, but you can at least earn a novice grade for working with any basic computer.” Sonic snickered before beginning to search through the computer. He found his old plans, including some blueprints for an odd version of Metal Sonic, and yes, even a list of his bases. “Let’s see… Ah-ha! This base is the only one using power! It has to mean it’s where Eggman’s hiding!” he said, pointing at the screen. “Wow, well done!” said Silver, Sonic heard him clapping through the earpiece. “Thank ye, thank ye… Now I’ll send the coordinates back to the base…” said Sonic, doing just that. But as he sent it, an Eggman face appeared on the screen, wagging a finger and saying “NOT SO FAST, HEDGEHOG!” as electricity sparkled. “Uh oh…” Sonic gulped, feeling tremors beginning to hit the base. “Self destruction sequence… Of course it has a self-destruct sequence…” groaned the hedgehog, beelining for the exit as everything behind him exploded in a fiery blaze. He managed to escape just in time as the entire base was blown to smithereens. “URGH!” Sonic groaned as the shockwave sent him forward a bit, but he nailed the landing with a Spin Dash maneuver. “Huff, that was close. Silver, please tell me that you got those coordinates…” Sonic huffed, dusting himself. “Yeah, I’m seeing them right now.” said Silver, nodding as he stared at the computer screen. “It’s the base closer to the canyons.” said the ivory hedgehog. “Huh, of course it’s the farthest one… I keep falling for that…” Sonic facepalmed a bit. “Well, that’s where we’re heading. I’ll fly over there, meet you halfway!” said Silver, flying out of the window. Sonic nodded and dashed towards it too. “This could be me, but I think before we even go there, we need the Chaos Emeralds. Because when it comes to Eggman and super powered beings, it’s often the case they’ll come in handy.”, Sonic explained. “I have an Emerald. You?” asked Silver Sonic playfully tossed up his own showing off. “Ok, let's send an all-out alert to the Restoration, focus on finding the Emeralds as fast as possible. I’ll head to the base while you round up the rest.”, Silver replied, formulating a plan. “Okay then, rounding up Emeralds is a nice pastime of mine. Time to juice and jam!”, Sonic sped off to parts unknown searching for more of the Emeralds. Unfortunately for them, Entropy had attached a drone the size of a bee to Shadow when he beated him up and it had spied on them up until now. “I have the coordinates as well, Sonic… Thank you. I have to say, Franklin, your Restoration “friends” turned out to be useful in the end… I may yet spare them if they don’t get in the way.” chuckled the wolf as he began to head there. Entropy got there first, being the closest one of the three, and as he set foot near the base, all of the security systems started blaring and several platoons of Badniks showed up. “This is definitely the place…” said the wolf, hovering closer with his arms behind his back. The Badniks rushed towards him, already starting to shoot him, but it proved useless as he was surrounded by his gravity shield. “Move. You’re in my way.” said Entropy, just flicking his finger. The robots got lifted up and flung back into the base’s wall, some of them got crushed by his gravitonic grip and some crushed into a ball and used to tear down the door. “Welcome, Dr Franklin! Please, make yourself comfortable! I have been waiting to see you again! One scientist to another.” Eggman’s voice croaked from one of the speakers. Entropy didn’t answer, just floated forward, his feet a few inches away from the ground. “Ah! Where are my manners?! I didn’t even offer you anything! How about some 500 thousand tons of explosive firearms?!” Eggman’s voice giggled as a plethora of sentry guns came out of the wall and started shooting at Entropy. His only reply was an eyebrow raise as he formed a barrier around himself to fend off the blasts. He landed and stretched his hands forward, surrounding two of the sentry guns with his aura. A clench of his fists was enough to crush them as if they were made of polystyrene. As the other turrets reloaded, Entropy used his powers to attract some of the bolts screwed onto the walls and used them as bullets, destroying the remaining turrets and removing the barrier. “Not a fan of fireworks, I see? Well then let me give you a more dignified peace offering. How about some beverages? Tea? Coffee? Or perhaps… Hot tar?” Eggman chuckled again. As Entropy raised a brow, a hatch above him was opened and a hot splash of tar was thrown onto him. “Rgh?!” he groaned, the armor protected him from the heat, but the tar was sticking to him and beginning to glue his feet on the ground. He struggled, but the substance was actually quite strong, keeping him from taking flight or even using his powers as it glued his hands together. As it did, a large bubble of it departed from the rest of the mass binding Entropy’s arms together and it grew a face… or rather, an empty pair of yellow eyes and a large creepy mouth full of sharp teeth. “Howdy, doc. I am A.B.O.R.T. and I shall be your executioner!” chuckled the tar monster, forming tentacles and spikes made of tar, ready to strike its prisoner. Again, the wolf didn’t answer. The inane theatrics just made him growl audibly as his aura began to overflow from his body, the very ground shaking as he charged it up, then released it in the form of an imposing gravitic flux, which splattered A.B.O.R.T. all over the walls. “I’ll rip apart every robot, mech, and whatever abomination you throw at me until I have your head, Eggman!” snorted the wolf, moving closer to the entrance of Eggman’s lab. “Least I got you to finally talk. But not really the most original threat I’ve heard before. Why don’t you try working on better material? I’ve heard more threatening quips from Tails.” Eggman scoffed as two huge robots armed with massive maces and cannons came out from holes in the wall. “Just more junk for me to scrap.” Entropy scoffed back, when one of the robots dropped the huge mace onto him. But he just raised a hand and stopped it before it even touched him. “Your power of manipulating physics’ fundamental forces truly is remarkable, and yet you use it so… plainly?” scoffed Eggman from the secure lab. The other robot attacked Entropy too, swinging the mace from left to right. “PLAINLY?!” Entropy shouted, moving his free hand to the side to grab the mace, then stole both of them away from the robots and used them to fulfill his promise, turning them to a scrap heap as he lost all pretenses of calmness, maybe influenced by Franklin’s burning hatred now that he was so close. “I’ll show you plain, you twisted freak!” he shouted, knocking down the door with one kick. Eggman was there, patiently waiting behind his computer table. “I’m dying to see it.” he chuckled confidently. “On that, you’re absolutely correct: you ARE dying, and there’s nothing you can do to stop it-” as Franklin walked forward, however, he stepped on a pressure trigger on the floor, which made a tube descend down and trap him in it. “...You insulted me for the last time…” hissed Entropy, readying a punch to strike it. “You see, that’s a big problem with you super-powered beings…” Eggman chuckled. As Entropy striked the tube, he was coursed by a powerful jolt of electricity. “GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH-!!!!!!!” he shouted before his body slumped down, the charge too high even for him. “You always think your powers make you invincible, but the moment you get too cozy with them, you leave yourselves open for people like me to exploit your weakness.” Eggman chuckled ominously as he loomed above Entropy’s passed out body. Meanwhile Silver managed to reach the base. He gasped, seeing how it was already a wreck. “Sonic, we gotta hurry! What’s your status?” he asked on the comm link. “Yeah, I found 3 more. One was in a jewelry store, a common place they end up. Another one was found by Tails when he was on monitor duty, so lucky break. And I happened to see Big fishin’ one right out of a lake. Between the 4 I’m holding and yours, just two more to go!” Suddenly, Sonic received a transmission from Shadow, “Sonic, Omega is carrying a Chaos Emerald for me. When I heard you were collecting them, I had to tell you.” “Thanks Shadow, are you still recovering from that attack?” “Yeah, I just need some more time until I can get back on my feet. Just grab that Emerald and stop Entropy before it’s too late.”, Shadow explained, ending the transmission. “With that emerald that makes six of them. I’ll collect the final one in a special stage, we can't waste any more time searching free roaming across the planet looking for the last one.”, Sonic thought to himself. About a few minutes later, Silver saw Sonic dashing towards him, stopping in front of him. “Voilà! I collected the whole set now!” said Sonic, giggling. “Great! Now, let’s head in.” Silver nodded and walked ironside carefully. “Aw man! Hate coming late to a party! Looks like we missed quite the battle!” Sonic groaned, seeing the chaos Entropy left behind. “Less trouble for us.” Silver replied, floating forward and followed closely by Sonic. “Yeah, but…kind of I don’t know, BORING.” Sonic huffed, putting his hands behind his head and following Silver, kicking a few bolts as he did. “This isn’t a game, Sonic. Too much is at stake.” Silver sighed, checking if there were active traps with a device in his bracelets. “Hey, I handle things like this because I know it will always work out in the end. So don’t worry. Where’s that optimism of yours?” asked the blue hero. “I’ll be much more optimistic once we handle this.” Silver scoffed and landed. “No traps ahead. Entropy must’ve got rid of them all. You don’t think he already…?” asked Silver. “Nah. Baldy McNosehair has more lives than a cat multiplied by five cockroaches. I’m sure he’s already escaped or has some weird protection for whatever Franklin will use against him.” Sonic shook his head, when they heard a tremor. Both stopped and looked in front of them as a Metal Sonic model walked towards them. This one was… different, however. He was made of a silvery-white metal and his eyes were lime green, just like the omega symbol surrounding the upper half of the hole in its chest, its hands and its shoes. The pieces on its forearms and lower legs were golden with the same omega symbol. “Wait… that’s the Metal Sonic model I saw on Eggman’s computers!” said Sonic, pointing at it. “Quite astute of you, hedgehog!” Eggman’s voice croaked “Since I was so impressed by that wolf’s gravitational power, being the evil genius that I am, I stole his work and put my own spin on it!”, Eggman gloated introducing his new robotic creation. “Meet Metal Sonic G-Model! My magnum opus, my masterpiece, my maniacal cherry on top of my delightful evil cake!” “Eggman… Does your cruelty have no limit?!” growled Silver. “Nope! Happy death, rodents!” Eggman cackled and closed off the communication. “I’m more repulsed by that weird food analogy.”, Sonic mentioned, sticking his tongue in repulsive disgust. Metal Sonic dashed at them, striking the ground with unprecedented strength and causing the metal floor to bend below their very feet. “YOWZAH!” said Sonic, struggling to keep the balance. Silver gritted his teeth and flew upwards, lifting up a few pieces of the destroyed turrets and firing them at the robot. However, Metal just repelled them back with his gravity shield. “Gh! So irksome…!” Silver grunted, dodging them gracefully. Sonic revved up a Spin Dash and tried to attack the robot, but it mimicked Sonic, imbuing its own Spin Dash with gravitons to outstrength Sonic’s attack, sending him flying. “WAAAAAAAH!!!” he shouted, bouncing around and actually hitting Silver, making them both fall. “NGH! Hey, watch it!” Silver grunted, getting him off. “Huff… That thing’s strong… But we can take it!” said Sonic, clenching his fist. “Wait! Before you recklessly throw yourself in battle… remember our thing?” asked Silver, waving his hand. “...Ooh right! Our thing!” Sonic chuckled. “Thanks for reminding me, bud! Let’s try it out!” he said, grinning. Silver channeled his power in his hand and touched Sonic’s temples, allowing him to see with Silver’s eyes. “Wooo! Heh, tingles in my brain!” Sonic chuckled and revved up a Spin Dash. Silver conjured up a giant psychic golf club. “FOOOOORE!!” he shouted, hitting Sonic with it and making him dash towards Metal, hitting it hard. But their strategy quickly proved to be ineffective as Metal grabbed Sonic by the ankles and started smashing him around. “OW! OW! OW! OW!” “Let him GO!!” Silver shouted, throwing his Psychic Knives at Metal. Metal managed to protect itself, but it had to let go of Sonic, who flopped down, but quickly got up and dashed away. “Huff… Thanks for the rescue, but now we need a new strategy.” huffed the Blue Blur. Meanwhile Metal lifted its hands and bent its fingers, before pulling them down and bringing a chunk of the ceiling with them right into the two hedgehogs. “WATCH IT!” Silver shouted, forming a barrier around them with his powers. “Whew…” huffed Sonic. “Don’t relax. I can’t… hold it… for long…” Silver groaned, his raised arms shivered and he was forced on one knee as Metal increased the weight of the debris, trying to crush them under it. “We don’t have a choice, Silv!” said Sonic, pulling out the Emeralds and a sack full of Rings he gathered from the Special Stage. “...Alright! Let’s crank it to 11!” said Silver with determination. As he did, the barrier vanished and the debris fell down on them. Metal walked closer to the mass of debris, when light came out from them. It took a few steps back as the mass exploded. From it, Sonic and Silver emerged in their Super state. “Heh, never fails to look awesome!” chuckled Sonic. “Let’s clean up this trash!” Silver stated confidently. Both hedgehogs flew around Metal, being barely phased by its laser and gravity-based attacks and hitting it hard and fast. Metal’s programming couldn’t keep up with their enhanced speed and strength and soon enough it began to lose its advantage, stepping back as he got more and more damaged by the invincible duo. “Let’s end it in style!” said Sonic, revving up a Spin Dash. “Gotcha!” replied Silver, holding Sonic’s curled form in his hands and charging up a psychic laser, imbuing it into Sonic. “TAAAAAKE THIS!!!!” he shouted, firing Sonic and the laser onto Metal, destroying it without leaving a trace. “Heh, they don’t build evil doppelgangers like they used to anymore…” Sonic quipped before flying into the main room with Silver. “Alright, Eggs for Brains! You’re getting scrambled!” stated the hero. “Haw haw. How original, Sonic. Who writes your quips, an idiot?” snorted Eggman from somewhere in the pretty wide room, the echo made it unclear from where he was talking. “You’re finished, Eggman! Let go of the professor, and we’ll go easy on you!” shouted Silver. From the ceiling dropped down a massive robot, shaped like a purple gorilla, who hit its chest and made a metallic roar. “You will go easy on me, small fry?! Think again! Behold my new creation, the Egg Kong! And wouldn’t you know it? The new power source I found works perfectly with it!” Eggman gloated from the robot’s controls, showing that in the middle of the robot’s chest was Entropy. His arms and legs were trapped inside four holes and his head and the machine on his back were strapped to cables going deep into the robot, sapping his gravity powers and gifting it to the mech, as shown by the green power lines all around its body. “Hmmm, you know I know I could make a lame monkey pun, but that’s banan-eath me.” Sonic snickered. Silver and Eggman both groaned. “You said like 5 minutes ago how annoyed you were with the food analogies. That one was just painful.”, Silver groaned. “Enough fooling around! You’re about to get squashed!” Eggman growled, opening missile hatches from the gorilla’s knuckles. Silver stared at Sonic “Don’t you dare say what I know you want to say…” “Oh c’mon! He practically called it! HUUUGGHH!!” Sonic huffed and flew up. Eggman shot them with heat-seeking missiles, with the only difference that their warheads had a repulsing field around them. “That’s gonna be bothersome…” groaned Sonic, dodging them for the time being. “And don’t you dare try to throw them back at me! They explode as soon as they detect the special energy emitted by the Egg Kong!” Eggman shouted. “What a KONG-plicated situation!” Sonic stated, grinning and punching one of the missiles away. “This is why I prefer Blaze or Espio’s company. They DON’T make lame jokes.” huffed Silver, protecting himself with a Shield of Light. “Oh come on, at the end of the day I WILL make you laugh at one of my perfectly-crafted puns, Silv! I’ll make this my mission!” Sonic chuckled, redirecting one of the missiles. “Quit bumbling around and buy me some time!” grunted Silver, making the missiles explode. Sonic smirked and nodded, flying around and having the missiles follow him. “C’mon Eggs! Let’s see how FUNKY you can get!” he chuckled. “I’ll give you funky, you overly-talkative rodent!” growled the mad scientist throwing more. “Oh see, now you’re bein’ CRANKY.” Sonic chuckled again, flying backwards to get all the missiles on him and away from Silver, giving him enough time to analyze the machine. “...I got it!” said Silver. “After a quick scan, it looks like the repelling force-field is much weaker around the chest area. That big green bubble thing, Sonic.” “Big bubble thing! Got it!” “DON’T LISTEN TO HIM! DON’T HIT THE GREEN BUBBLE THING!!” growled Eggman, shooting more missiles. “I saw this in a cartoon once!” Sonic giggled as he amassed all of the missiles into one big ball, then kicked it straight onto the chest of the mech, shattering the glass bubble and causing the mech to go into overload. “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!” Eggman yelled. Silver flew towards the opened ball and grabbed a hold of Franklin’s body, ripping him out of the mech. “C’mon, prof! You’re coming with me!” said Silver, flying away from the mech as, depowered, it fell on its knees, then on its face and laid there, motionless with a few sparks coming out of it. “...Y-You…” Franklin whimpered, apparently the shock was big enough to bring his original personality back. “Yup, us! Don’t worry, we forgive you for that whole “blowing the ceiling and running off to try and kill Eggman” thing. As for Shadow… maybe don’t get too close to him if we run into him again.” said Sonic. Both him and Silver lended Franklin their shoulders as they carried him out. Hoeverm, from a hatch on the back, out came Eggman, coughing with his face covered in soot and his mustaches looking even more wild than usual. “Heh, >cough<, you may have stopped me today, hedgehogs. But even then Sonic, for someone claiming to be the fastest thing alive, >cough<>cough<, you didn’t make it in time to save his wife.” The wolf’s eyes lit up with the most intense scowl. Silver could feel him getting heavier now suddenly. “Just think about it, not you, not him, not even her own husband was able to help her.” Franklin’s body began glowing again. His teeth grinding and his growls were like that of a child just barely holding in their primal rage. “EGGMAN, STOP! He’s going to lose control!”, Silver yelled. “That’s the idea! But I mean, how could he lose something he never had? Oh not after he got this power, I mean he couldn’t change anything that happened leading up to his wife being blown to bits.”, Eggman taunted, looking Entropy directly in the eye. “RRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!”, Entropy roared out, knocking Silver and Sonic off of him. The ground shook in waves as Entropy completely lost all sense of reason. “UUGGHH… just once I’d like things to be over when we want them…!” Sonic groaned, even in his Super form he could feel the pure gravitonic power seeping out of Entropy’s body as it pushed them towards the wall. “GH…!” Silver could barely hold off the power thanks to his barrier. But then, a beep made him look at his bracelet, which showed some numbers rapidly increasing, making Silver widen his eyes. “Oh crap…! Sonic, he’s reaching the point of no return! If he keeps it up, he’s gonna implode!” “RRGGHH… G-Good riddance, then…” hissed Eggman, holding on to his robot. “No, it’s not!! If he gains enough mass and implodes, he’s gonna turn into a black hole the size of the FREAKING SUN!!!” Silver shouted. “Rrgghh… Why do I feel like I heard that one before?” said Sonic, holding his arms in front of him to resist the gravitonic push. “Reminisce later! We gotta stop him!” Silver shouted, managing to slowly inch closer. Sonic nodded, and began moving closer as well. However, the closer they got, the stronger the gravitic pulse became. “RRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!” At this point, Franklin's mind was overwhelmed with despair and anger, all he wanted was to eradicate every single thing in front of him. He didn’t care if this world would be destroyed, he just… wanted everything to end. The pain, the suffering, the hatred… Everything. Pure, complete and absolute… entropy. “UURRGGHH… S-Silv… W-What do we do… o-once we get to him…?” asked Sonic, straining himself the hardest he ever did in his super form. “W-We gotta try to… to use our powers to… c-contain him… Form a barrier around him…” Silver groaned as well, good thing they stocked up on Rings so they didn’t fear running out of power anytime soon. They both got the closest they could to Entropy and began using their powers to create a barrier around him, containing him and his energy. However, this soon turned out to be more difficult than they thought. The energy output was, for a lack of better terms, too much to handle, even for two super hedgehogs. They could feel the gravitic pulse pushing them away, fighting desperately to break out of the combined efforts of the hedgehogs to contain it. “HHHRRRGGGHHH… I… I’M SLIPPIN’, SILV…” “GGGRRR… H-HANG… O-ON… IF WE SLIP… WE’RE ALL D-DEAD…!!” Silver shouted, but even so he too could feel himself slipping, the power was too much. It was like trying to stop an atomic bomb from going off, and they were losing. “Hmph… I leave you alone… for ten minutes… and this… is what you get yourselves into?” The voice came from behind them, making them look back to see Shadow, struggling to walk towards them. “SHADOW?! BOY, ARE WE GLAD TO SEE YOU!” Sonic yelled to try and make himself be heard among the noise and chaos. Shadow didn’t reply, just using his Chaos Control to teleport to them and absorb some power for himself, enough to turn into Super Shadow. “All of us are needed to stop this thing!” he shouted as he too stretched his arms the best he could and added his own energy to the barrier. At this point, Entropy wasn’t visible anymore, so much so that Silver swore he’d have just turned into pure energy by now, there was nothing more to save if not the world. With an incredible all-consuming effort, the three hedgehogs were able to contain the gravitonic bomb from diffusing, the energy gathered in one place immediately dissipating into thin air. After the effect of Entropy’s powers subsided, the trio all collectively powered down to their normal forms. “Whew, not the first time I had to put out a black hole from engulfing the planet.”, Sonic mused, brushing the dust off his arms. “What don’t you do when saving the world?”, Silver replied, “Wait, where'd Eggman go?!” “Typical of him, always sneaking off when everyone is distracted.”, Shadow hissed in frustration. They looked back to the base seeing the whole area in one giant mangled pile of rubble. No signs that anything else survived as it all looked beyond repair with no other robots making any signs of movement around there. Silver spoke with relief, “It should be impossible for him to survive turning into a black hole. There was no way it could have ended any other way.” “Believe me, Silver, I wish it were true. But if my experience with nearly dying has taught me anything, with people like him, I doubt it.”, Shadow crossed his arms, showing his doubt. “Shadow’s right. Believe half of what you see, and none of what you don’t. Until we know for sure, he’s most likely out there.”, Sonic added, looking off into the base. The trio loomed over the wreckage the white wolf wrought. All of them still left without closure, only unease on whatever future was left for their new foe. Could Franklin return to normal? Would his new split personality overwhelm and guide his actions for the rest of his days? There was no way to know. The only thing left in the epicenter of the destruction, was armor that was crumpled down to the size of a paper ball. Blood spatter leaving a trail above ground. And the rage fueled eyes of a new villain that will stop at nothing until his vengeance is satisfied. The End
