The Dungeon Society is a structured society based around slavery for use in a variety of settings. The society usually exists in a casual sex modern setting by default, but can also be adapted to medieval, sci-fi, or fantasy settings. It was created in part as a solution for the "Undesirables" of society such as orphans, unwanted children, small-time criminals, or those in debt, though it has spread to include most people in the BDSM lifestyle. Not much about the society is known to outsiders, but it's easy enough to join the society for those curious, or those not careful enough to avoid becoming a slave. Dungeon Society High Council: The governing body of the society that oversees registration of slaves and owners as well as keeping records of all establishments the society sponsors and being the ultimate authority in any society-related matter. Society-Owned Establishments: The society sponsors a large number of public establishments that offer a wide variety of different purposes and services, though all share the society's BDSM-based vision, including public dungeons where privately-owned slaves can offer their services. Of course, there are also a number of BDSM establishments owned by people outside of the society that mainly cater to switches. However, they're not nearly as popular, especially since a switch can only enter the society at an establishment sponsored by the society. The society also has the monopoly on legal slave markets since most legally-recognized slaves are society property. Society Ranks: There are 11 ranks that members of the society are given that establish the hierarchy of the society. The ranks are as follows; 0 - Slave: The entry point for unwilling slaves sold to or enslaved by a member of the society, their rank is denoted by a black collar. Their lives are entirely dictated by their owners, and are almost always restrained in some way, and are confined to a cell when not in use. They usually have to have a leash at the minimum to be allowed in public. 1 - Service Slave: Slaves shown to be willing to work are promoted to Service Slaves based on their abilities and put into positions such as maids, gardeners, cooks, etc. Their rank is denoted by a grey collar. They are still usually restrained in some way such as a chain between the ankles or having their hands cuffed in front of them, and are still confined to single cells. 2 - Mentor Slave: Those who've accepted their position can be promoted to Mentor Slaves who help those below them adjust to their new lives and live as an example of how a slave should act in regards to their owners. Their rank is denoted by a white collar. They're allowed limited access to their owner's home or dungeon, and are often confined in a common area with other mentors instead of a single cell. 3 - Pet: Those who've shown they're willing as a slave can be promoted to pet. Their rank is denoted by a red collar. Unlike other slaves, pets usually have free range of an owner's home or dungeon, are usually only confined at night, and are generally treated better than other slaves. Also unlike other slaves, pets are allowed in public without a leash, though they still usually have to be with with an owner in such situations. 4 - Supervising Pet: Exceptional pets can be promoted to supervising pets. Their rank is denoted by a blue collar. As the highest rank of slave, they're the only slaves in any position of authority, having authority over the lower slave ranks when their owner is otherwise occupied or when given permission to do so, and they usually have their own private quarters. They're the only slaves allowed in public without a leash or an owner, though usually still have to wear their collars and have their owner's permission. They're also the only slaves allowed to remove their collars when at their owner's home or dungeon, though many of them choose not to do so. 5 - Switch: A rank usually held by someone not belonging to the society but still interested in BDSM. This is usually a temporary rank given to visitors to establishments sponsored by the society for those who want to experience being a sub or dom with a limited commitment. Those in this rank wishing to join the society can do so through recommendations of society members and can become a pet or an apprentice master/mistress based on which position they want in the society. 6 - Apprentice Master/Mistress: Although only apprentices, these owners are still referred as simply Master or Mistress by slaves. Those able to achieve this rank are granted permits allowing them to legally enslave people outside of the society regardless of consent for experience purposes. People enslaved in this manner can either be set free or sold to a slave market for profit at the Master or Mistress' discretion. However, an apprentice is not allowed to have their own dungeon and are only allowed to keep a slave for up to three days. They usually serve under higher Masters and Mistresses and use their dungeon facilities for any slaves they take as well as helping with tying slaves or any other help with a slave the Master or Mistress they serve under may need at their home or dungeon. They can also apprentice at a society-sponsored establishment under a supervising or head Master or Mistress. An apprentice can be demoted to a pet or even a slave for any indiscretions based on the discretion of the Master or Mistress they serve under as well and have to work their way back up to a switch before they can be recommended to become an apprentice once more. 7 - Master/Mistress: Those who prove themselves as apprentices are fully licensed as a full Master or Mistress. They're able to own their own private dungeon and can take full ownership of a slave they take with all rights over them. 8 - Supervising Master/Mistress: A Master or Mistress can be hired by a Head Master/Mistress or Dungeon Master/Mistress to supervise apprentices and slaves in society-sponsored establishments or the homes or dungeons of other Masters and Mistresses. They also often travel to supervise the transfer of slaves from a slave market to a home or dungeon, or a slave transfer between different homes or dungeons. 9 - Head Master/Mistress: A head Master or Mistress manages a specific society-sponsored establishment and has the ultimate say in what happens there when not under instruction by the Dungeon Master or Mistress who owns the establishment. 10 - Dungeon Master/Mistress: The most prestigious of ranks that can only be granted to exceptional Masters and Mistresses by the Dungeon Society High Council governing the Society. Those in this rank are the only ones besides members of the council who are allowed to own their own society-sponsored establishment, and many have become rich and famous for the unique visions of their establishments.
