Tricia looked toward the back in shock while Raymond held his head down, growling slightly. Was he actually here? How did he manage to make it to the wedding without the Ushers noticing? These were the thoughts that were going through Raymond’s head as he suddenly remembered the craftiness of his former friend and lover. He finally pulled his head up and looked to the back. Sure enough, it was exactly who he had expected it to be.\n\nJared… The large black Labrador stood in the back of the church, glaring right at Raymond. Raymond, in turn, followed back with a glare of his own. It didn’t take long for Tricia to realize that Jared wasn’t someone she knew and then looked to her fiancé, noticing the glare that he was giving to the one who had just objected to her marriage. It was her worst fear about this wedding now realized. Finally, the time for words needed to come.\n\n“Ray… Who is he? And don’t tell me you don’t know him… I can tell from the way you are looking at him that you know exactly who he is.” She said, very confused as she then looked to the two boys who were in just as much shock as she was. But if anyone thought that something more unexpected couldn’t happen, it did…\n\nColin, angry at Jared for having ruined his mother’s wedding, starting charging forward, heading straight down the aisle. “HOW DARE YOU RUIN MY MOTHER’S WEDDING!!!!?” He shouted as he ran faster than Tricia, Kyle, and Raymond had ever seen. The two parents and Kyle stared in even more shock as he continued down the aisle, clearly not scared by the sheer size of the black Labrador. But he was certainly in for a shock as he finally reached him and tried to deliver a punch.\n\nJared quickly swooped his arm down and snatched Colin up into his arms, holding him in a way that Colin couldn’t move easily. In just as quick a motion, Jared’s other arm reached up, his hand clenching a knife as he placed it to the young boy’s throat. Tricia cried out in alarm as she saw her boy there, fearing the absolute worst as images of her son’s death flashed through her mind at a quick pace. \n\n“NO!!” She shouted as she dropped to her knees, her voice cracking as tears quickly started to form. “DON’T HARM MY BABY!!!” She continued, still with a cracked voice. Could this really be happening? Could this have actually been possible to happen on her wedding day? A man stood behind him, holding a gun straight to where the gunshot wound had been. With his other hand, a police badge had been held up. Suddenly, ambulance drivers rushed in and grabbed the body of the dead man while one checked Colin to be sure he was okay. Once cleared, Colin ran up to the altar once more and hugged his mom, both crying in happiness that they were still alive.\n\nThe police officer who had shot Jared smirked. “Thanks for the Tip, Raymond. Seems he had planned something after all. Had you not told us about last night, we would have never thought him to be capable of this. Terribly sorry that this had ruined your wedding though…” He said, a face of sadness coming on him as he said those last words.\n\nRaymond nodded. “No worries, Michael. Thank you for your help.” He said before kneeling down beside Tricia and Colin. Kyle set his violin onto the piano as he ran over to them as well. “I’m sorry, Tricia. I didn’t think he would do something like that, but that was why I tipped off the police in hopes that maybe they would show up just in case. Is Colin okay?” He said, rubbing her back as she held Colin tight, not wanting to let him go.\n\nShe simply nodded, the tears unable to stop at the moment. She couldn’t believe that this had happened on this day of all days. She almost lost her one and only son, or at least, her one and only son at the moment. The pastor cleared his throat to try and gain the attention of the crowd who was in just as much shock as the rest of the wedding party. \n\n“As the objection was due to a personal vendetta, and since the man in question is no longer among the living, the objection is not included. Should anyone else have an objection, please speak now.” He said. Silence came from the crowd who all knew that the two deserved to be together. After a few moments of silence, the pastor nodded and said “Very Well. There are no objections to this marriage.” He then reached a hand down to help Tricia up, but she still refused to let Colin go.\n\nFinally, Colin was able to say something. “Mom… It’s okay. I’m fine… But you still have to get married. So… Come on. Get up and do so, okay?” He said, looking her in the eyes and wiping away her tears. It was scary, yes, but he knew how much this day meant to her, and he wasn’t going to let the mind of a sick and twisted murderer try to ruin it. So he finally stood up and kissed her on the forehead. \n\nTricia couldn’t help but smile at her son’s braveness. To have charged him like that and to now only be focused on the wedding… She could definitely see some of his father in him. He was just like that… A courageous man, forceful, brave, and protective. She finally nodded and stood up, with the help of the pastor. She wiped any remaining tears from her eyes and smiled at her son. “Thank you.” She said as she kissed him on the forehead as well. Colin finally grabbed Kyle’s hand and took him over by the piano. While Colin tried to act brave, Kyle could feel him shaking still, his heart pounding incredibly fast. He knew that Colin was going to have nightmares about this later on.\n\nThe Pastor took control once more and said “Without further ado, shall we get to the reading of the vows?” But Tricia shook her head. “No… I just want this ceremony to be over. I don’t need reading of vows to know that the man I love here and now is the one I want to spend the rest of my life with, and I have no doubt he would say the same. So yes, I do take this man.” She said.\n\nRaymond chuckled slightly. “Yes, I would say the same thing. And yes, I do take this woman, to be my lawfully wedded wife.” He added afterward, looking at the pastor and waiting for him to say what was next.\n\n“Well… Then next is the Unity Candle and Sand Mixtures” He said, laughing slightly, as he led Colin, Kyle, Tricia, and Raymond up to the table behind him. “If I could have the two children light the candles on the end, then the adults, would you please light the main candle using the candles lit by your children?” Colin and Kyle stepped forward and started to light the outer candles. As they did this, the Pastor continued to speak, explaining the process.\n\n“The Unity Candle is to symbolize two families, represented by the outer candles, becoming as one, represented by the middle candle. The outer candles, lit by the children, Colin and Kyle, will represent their individual families, separated at the time being.” At this point, Tricia and Raymond grabbed the outer candles and moved to light the middle candle. “And the parents, Tricia and Raymond, grab the candles lit by their respective children. With the lighting of the center candle, it is symbolizing two families now whole.” With the candles all lit, the four stepped back down to the Altar as the pastor set a circular shape with a divider in the middle, making it separated into three.\n\n“And with the Sand Mixture, we further symbolize two families combined with the grace of God to be blessed for all eternity.” Colin and Tricia grabbed a small jar of yellow Sand and poured it into one of the sections. “The yellow sand, to represent the Thatch family, is poured by Mother and Son, ready to join another family.” Then Kyle and Raymond grabbed a jar of Blue sand and poured it into another section. “The blue sand, to represent the Robinson family, is poured by Father and Son, ready to receive more into their family.” Finally, the pastor grabbed the red sand and poured it into the last section. “And finally, the red sand, to represent the grace of God, is poured by the one sent to preach His word.” \n\nAt this point, he removed the divider as the sands mixed just slightly where the divider kept them separated. A top was put on it and latches to seal it together. The five then grabbed it and started to just slightly move it around, slowly mixing the sands together. “And now, the sands are to be mixed as one, showing the extreme amount of difficulty it would take to tear this family apart. God, Thatch, and Robinson are mixed together, for now and forever.” He said as the circular shape now held a well-mixed batch of sand, a decorative item for the family, and yet another symbol of their unity. \n\n“May the rings be presented so we might continue?” Colin and Kyle stepped forward once more as Tricia and Raymond retook their spots. “Colin, if you would please hand the ring to Raymond.” Colin opened his hand and kissed the ring before handing it to Raymond who also proceeded to kiss it. “Raymond, repeat after me. With this Ring, I thee wed.”\n\n“With this Ring, I thee wed.” He said as he placed the ring upon Tricia’s hand before lifting it up to her so she could kiss it as well. No one was sure why they were kissing the ring, but Colin had started it, so they continued to do so.\n\nThe Pastor then looked to Kyle. “Kyle, if you would please hand the ring to Tricia.” As Colin had done so, Kyle opened his hand and kissed the ring before handing it to Tricia who followed suit and kissed it as well. “Tricia, repeat after me. With this Ring, I thee wed.” \n\n\n“With this Ring, I thee wed.” She repeated, placing the ring upon Raymond’s hand and also lifting his hand up for him to kiss. They all giggled slightly before looking to the Pastor. He sighed, knowing that this was the strangest wedding he had ever performed.\n\n“Through the grace of God, we persevered through this wedding ceremony. While it was strange in its own rights, nothing is meant to break this family apart. And so, by the power vested in me by the State of New York and the almighty power of God, it is with great pleasure that I pronounce you two man and wife. You may kiss the bride.” Said the Pastor. Raymond looked to Tricia’s eyes as he smiled. Leaning in, the two engaged in a small, but still deep kiss. With that kiss, the two realized all the memories they had together and knew that many great memories were still to come. \n\n\nOnce the two had ended their kiss, The Pastor looked to the crowd and said “Ladies and Gentlemen… I now give you…. Colin, this time, now had a flute to play as Piano, Violin, and Flute played the now married parents out of the church. Large bells started to ring as well to signify their wedding to as many as possible. Kyle and Colin were the last of the wedding party to leave, still playing their respective instruments as they walked down the aisle next to each other.\n\nIt was a short trip to a beautiful ballroom where decorations and food were all set up for the reception. This was the time to party and celebrate the joining of two families. Colin and Kyle danced with each other a little bit, cheering at the fact that they were now brothers. It was quite the fun time as they finally got the chance to slip away from the crowd and off to one of the bathrooms. Chapter 4 – The Reception

“I Object!”

Those two words were heard from the very back of the church as gasps came from the crowd. Tricia looked toward the back in shock while Raymond held his head down, growling slightly. Was he actually here? How did he manage to make it to the wedding without the Ushers noticing? These were the thoughts that were going through Raymond’s head as he suddenly remembered the craftiness of his former friend and lover. He finally pulled his head up and looked to the back. It didn’t take long for Tricia to realize that Jared wasn’t someone she knew and then looked to her fiancé, noticing the glare that he was giving to the one who had just objected to her marriage. It was her worst fear about this wedding now realized. Finally, the time for words needed to come.

“Ray… Who is he? And don’t tell me you don’t know him… I can tell from the way you are looking at him that you know exactly who he is.” She said, very confused as she then looked to the two boys who were in just as much shock as she was. But if anyone thought that something more unexpected couldn’t happen, it did…

Colin, angry at Jared for having ruined his mother’s wedding, starting charging forward, heading straight down the aisle. “HOW DARE YOU RUIN MY MOTHER’S WEDDING!!!!?” He shouted as he ran faster than Tricia, Kyle, and Raymond had ever seen.  The two parents and Kyle stared in even more shock as he continued down the aisle, clearly not scared by the sheer size of the black Labrador. Tricia cried out in alarm as she saw her boy there, fearing the absolute worst as images of her son’s death flashed through her mind at a quick pace.

“NO!!” She shouted as she dropped to her knees, her voice cracking as tears quickly started to form. “DON’T HARM MY BABY!!!” She continued, still with a cracked voice. Could this really be happening? Could this have actually been possible to happen on her wedding day? Next thing she knew, a soft chuckle was heard from her fiancé as she looked up to him with even more shocked eyes, if that was even possible.

Raymond looked up once more and said “I had a feeling you would show up, Jared. Grabbing a child? Threatening to kill him? And don’t forget the rape and assault you gave me last night… Drop him now, or you’ll be the one who dies.” Tricia couldn’t believe that he had just said that. The police officer who had shot Jared smirked. “Thanks for the Tip, Raymond. Seems he had planned something after all. Had you not told us about last night, we would have never thought him to be capable of this. Terribly sorry that this had ruined your wedding though…” He said, a face of sadness coming on him as he said those last words.

Raymond nodded. “No worries, Michael. Thank you for your help.” He said before kneeling down beside Tricia and Colin. Kyle set his violin onto the piano as he ran over to them as well. “I’m sorry, Tricia. I didn’t think he would do something like that, but that was why I tipped off the police in hopes that maybe they would show up just in case. Is Colin okay?” He said, rubbing her back as she held Colin tight, not wanting to let him go.

She simply nodded, the tears unable to stop at the moment. She couldn’t believe that this had happened on this day of all days. She almost lost her one and only son, or at least, her one and only son at the moment. The pastor cleared his throat to try and gain the attention of the crowd who was in just as much shock as the rest of the wedding party.

“As the objection was due to a personal vendetta, and since the man in question is no longer among the living, the objection is not included. Should anyone else have an objection, please speak now.” He said. Silence came from the crowd who all knew that the two deserved to be together. After a few moments of silence, the pastor nodded and said “Very Well. There are no objections to this marriage.” He then reached a hand down to help Tricia up, but she still refused to let Colin go.

Finally, Colin was able to say something. “Mom… It’s okay. I’m fine… But you still have to get married. So… Come on.  Get up and do so, okay?” He said, looking her in the eyes and wiping away her tears. It was scary, yes, but he knew how much this day meant to her, and he wasn’t going to let the mind of a sick and twisted murderer try to ruin it. So he finally stood up and kissed her on the forehead.

Tricia couldn’t help but smile at her son’s braveness. To have charged him like that and to now only be focused on the wedding… She could definitely see some of his father in him. He was just like that… A courageous man, forceful, brave, and protective. She finally nodded and stood up, with the help of the pastor. She wiped any remaining tears from her eyes and smiled at her son. “Thank you.” She said as she kissed him on the forehead as well. Colin finally grabbed Kyle’s hand and took him over by the piano. The Pastor took control once more and said “Without further ado, shall we get to the reading of the vows?” But Tricia shook her head. “No… I just want this ceremony to be over. I don’t need reading of vows to know that the man I love here and now is the one I want to spend the rest of my life with, and I have no doubt he would say the same. So yes, I do take this man.” She said.

Raymond chuckled slightly. “Yes, I would say the same thing. And yes, I do take this woman, to be my lawfully wedded wife.” He added afterward, looking at the pastor and waiting for him to say what was next.

“Well… Then next is the Unity Candle and Sand Mixtures” He said, laughing slightly, as he led Colin, Kyle, Tricia, and Raymond up to the table behind him. “If I could have the two children light the candles on the end, then the adults, would you please light the main candle using the candles lit by your children?” Colin and Kyle stepped forward and started to light the outer candles. As they did this, the Pastor continued to speak, explaining the process.

“The Unity Candle is to symbolize two families, represented by the outer candles, becoming as one, represented by the middle candle. The outer candles, lit by the children, Colin and Kyle, will represent their individual families, separated at the time being.” At this point, Tricia and Raymond grabbed the outer candles and moved to light the middle candle. “And the parents, Tricia and Raymond, grab the candles lit by their respective children. With the lighting of the center candle, it is symbolizing two families now whole.” With the candles all lit, the four stepped back down to the Altar as the pastor set a circular shape with a divider in the middle, making it separated into three.
