Chapter 2: New Addition I’m freaking out here. A foreign god just left us with a baby, without mentioning that it was a baby! How does that even happen? While I’m freaking out, Lin-Hu is sitting frozen on the couch, Likulau is currently watching the baby, and Shu-Chi is trying to help me calm down. Liao: “What do we do now?” Shu-Chi: “Come on Liao, it isn’t so bad. I mean, I certainly didn’t expect this for several years.” Liao: “Shu-Chi, please don’t joke about this. We are just scraping by with the apartment and our jobs, how are we supposed to take care of a baby? Back me up on this Lin-Hu!” Lin-Hu: “…” He must still be in shock. Meanwhile, Likulau is still playing with the baby. Liao: “Likulau, is there anything in there to help?” Likulau reaches into the box and pulls out a small box of diapers, a box of baby wipes, a baby bottle, a pacifier, a stuffed wolf, and a note. He starts to walk towards me, when he suddenly halts. The baby started crying without the wolf. Shu-Chi: “Liku, you can’t take his toy!” He takes the toy from the leopard and gives it back to the baby. Shu-Chi: “There you go, aren’t you just the most adora-OWW! He bit my tail!” I went over to go help Shu-Chi, when the realization of his words struck me. And I wasn’t the only one to notice, since everyone now turned back towards the baby again. Shu-Chi: “He…bit my tail. How did he bite my tail?” Lin-Hu: “He clearly must have some large amount of spiritual energy, but I have never heard of the Yin-Yang Eye developing in infancy.” Taking this in with about the same amount of expectancy as anything else that happened this night, I decided to read the note. Hopefully that asshole left something useful. “Hey, chances you have discovered that I was referring to a human babe. Yeah, I wasn’t hiding anything. He was born in my shrine just before his mother up and died. And due to its circumstances, that's probably how it gained its inherent spiritual perception. He might be descended from the druids, since it seems to attract any and every kind of magical being. And like I probably said, place the stone I handed you on the night of the full moon, and I will take him from you. Just give me at least a month or two to relax first. Oh, the name it was given was Keiran. It means “small, dark one”, fitting, seeing how it was born.” Likulau: “What now?” He said what we were all thinking. Shu-Chi: “I say we keep him.” Liao+Lin-Hu: “WHAT!?” Shu-Chi: “We don’t really have any other option, do we? Why not take care of him for the month and then decide if we want to return him.” I was a bit shocked at how much sense that makes. I didn’t believe he had that much maturity in him. Lin-Hu: “Absolutely not! Liao can’t expect to care for a baby all on his own! And I hardly think that you will help.” Shu-Chi: “Hey, as Liao’s boyfriend, I take offense to that.” Liao: “So are Lin-Hu and Likulau. But you and I are the only ones who have bodies and we are the only ones who can do anything for him.” Shu-Chi: “Not entirely. Kulau can move some small things and it would be stronger around him since he seems to be leaking excess chi. Maybe even the old man can help out.” Again, a surprising level of thought for Shu-Chi. I was almost about to compliment him on it when the baby started to cry. After sniffing the air and seeing the look of disgust on Likulau’s face, I could tell why. Liao: “That’s not the only thing he’s leaking. Can you hand me one of the diapers and wipes? And maybe a bucket.” I took the diaper and wipe and did the best I could while trying not to throw up in my mouth. I will skip the details and go to the point where I finally put a diaper on him, half an hour later. Liao: “Finally! That took forever!” Shu-Chi: “How can so much come out of something so small?” Liao: “Lin-Hu, Likulau, how are you holding up?” They were both looking sick after what just happened, and I don’t blame them. To a human, this is a natural and admittedly disgusting part of life. To a god, it’s probably just disgusting. I take a look at the smiling, disgusting baby. He looks proud of the trouble he caused. Great, another Shu-Chi in the house, no wonder he liked him so much. I couldn’t stop myself from laughing. I didn’t know if I was laughing at the utter madness of the situation, the ridiculousness of what I just thought of, or if I simply lost it. I just couldn’t stop laughing. The others stared at me with confused and slightly worried faces, before joining me in laughter. Liao: “What are we going to do with you?
