"writing": " Dave is happy, not don't worry happy, not even close, but more like \"I have a flamethrower and alot of weeds\" kinda happy. He's the proud owner of a store in (as far as he could tell) a fantacy universe, complete with abstract guilds, mixing and mingling levels of technology and mysticism, and social norms that meant his pet dog boy wasn't something he'd be chased across the continent over. He still got odd looks and it kept parents from letting their kids in alone, but he didnt like the snotnosed brats or attempted sneak thieves so that was just an all around win.\n Funny part about the shop was its placement in a great spot for buisness, horrible place for customers. Sure they all wanted his stuff, but they knew to haggle and bluster for discounts, just like he'd scam, swindle and charge what he called the ignorance tax. The city enforcers too far on either side to hold him to any standards but not far enough to keep eachother back, he paid his taxes like a good boy and wasn't in the territory of the local mafia for it. Property like this existed in narrow and sometimes isolated bands thanks to the transit system in Union, and that made it expensive. Dave had got the place in an estate sale when its resident went feral, got a big discout too. Some colleagues and relatives got most of the stuff, but the deed and everything needed to keep the storefront running were his.\n Dave being a human from Earth, with no magic or monsters, was overjoyed to have a shop because he had the supreme knowledge of technical jargon. Even if this world had wonders far beyond him he had knowledge that was only comprehensible to a niche subsect of a subsect of a broad profession. So as long as blacksmiths were kept busy he could have his easy money at the cost of noone having any idea what they were buying. It meant his shop was filled with shiney knickknacks and entertaining little physics demonstrations, like the offset pistons of a sterling engine.\n To Dave this was an easy life of fitting tiney pipes, until someone noticed that chainsaw he'd built as a window peice. It ran pretty well on bacon grease and moonshine and it was largely built to test the steel frame lathe he'd commissioned. But then someone saw \"saw\", and the person watching that person work saw \"sword\" and his problems multiplied. But it also fixed the literal monster in the basement, feeding the previous shop owner.\n See when the artificer blew himself up he turned into a wild beast, only as a function of the world's respawn system. Any time anyone or anything dies, a portion of the experience it gained threw work is skimmed from it and they are 'respawned' where they once slept. One might think there's an issue with dying repeatedly and they'd be right, that engages a mercy system that starts respawning with additional monstrous characteristics complimenting their current traits. Which is how we get monsters here, animals being the descendants of those monters.\n So for an artificer, prone to being ambushed by assassins and having experiments blow him to smithereens, he'd have a build with toughness and couterattack strength prioritized. Producing a monster of small intelect but still capable of forthought and crafting while having thorny armor and high speed flexibility. Thus the snake-tortus-badger-qupine in Dave's basement, or would it be a snapping-weasle-salamander-hegehog-turtle. A face like a snapping turtle wth crescent shell plates along his spine, with quills bristling beneath them and all the rest being a cocktail of weasel, badger and snake.\n Earth animals don't translate well to momsters here, so Dave was left calling the artificer a shellbacked cavesnake and describing the rest. Some were curious why he didnt have a monster hunter capture it and for awhile he said \"collateral damage\" getting gasps and nods, even though deep down he held that he feels bad for the old man. Dave kept old stuff from rennovations he did so he could give the lizard food and water, like the old water tank he filled with the artificer's favorate tea. The lift in the back was used for lowering down whole carts of monster meats he accepted as replacement for coin. Heck once he'd even tried talking to the big guy, only to find out the basterd had dug his way down to a sewer line. \n Major headache that was, figuring a way to keep the smell out and get an adventurer team to distract the brute and getting a contractor threw. It must have felt like a boss fight to the adventurers but Dave didn't want paps dying again.\n Just part of his standards being different, having come from earth.\n Buisness was winding down for the day and he'd found himself caught between telling a kid they couldnt afford the bauble they wanted, haggling with some adventurers over a cart of meat and watching his companion dust off shelves while replacing inventory. A relaxing evening so be sure, sending the kid off in a huff and getting the party of part time monster hunters to agree to bring tea ingredients back with them too. His companion in a cute maid outfit looking back at him while in a good pose for underskirt viewing and deciding to hop down to hug him. The doggo/deerfox boy getting pats between the bumps of his lil antlers as they started to come in for spring. Things were good.\n Exept for a foreboding feeling.\n---\n I love my boi, we've been partners in crime since my third winter, give or take a month, and I never tire of him. I know there's some taboo about keeping monsters close by or about lewding with them but me and Dave are shaped by eachother. Its like a forest and its fungal bed, we help eachother. Him with his smarts and tough and grabby tail, and me with my fire and bite and goody ear, I still remember when he was just letting me scavenge his kills. He was so helpless then, but he grew so fast, became so strong, he helped me grow with him. Spoke to me, fed me tasty things, showed me how to listen to the world without hurting, Dave is best boi.\n I love how he's petting me, brushing his almost rough hand over my head, it sends chills and shivers down my spine feeling that pad scraping on my fine coat. I love how he holds me, all the ways he can press me against him and him against me, it makes all my fur fluff up.\n He loves it too I think. The way his face is relaxed as he looks down at me, the slight tearyness to his eyes. I give him a kiss, about as high as I can reach on him, to say I love you and he does that thing with his arms around my back that pulls me up. I am overjoyed and let out a feral squeal.\n Yes, he knows, I know he knows. I love him\n---\n It isn't odd for Mikey to be affectionate, but it is odd for him to be so relaxed after people came in bristling mad just yesterday. So odd it sends tingles up my back, like he doesn't know someone is about to be suplexed threw two inch boards of oak(equivalent) tonight. To be fair I dont either, but I ignore Mikey's cock between my thighs just to be safe, he might be ignoring it too but he's preoccupied with cuddles. My faithful companion loves keeping hugging, cuddling and fucking times very seperate, he insists that squishing them together depreciates their value more than it saves time. Then I have to remind him how busy I am most days.\n That line of argument usually gets him showing off his ass and being snide untill I give in and pin him to a wall. So of course its his favorite argument to start with me, it took a shamefull abount of time to realize that's all it was and start skipping to the part he wanted. But today there were no words, just my little fox-dog-deer thing absorbing my body heat in the light of the setting sun. \n He was the first thing that I found here that wasnt trying to kill me, every creature in the woods I popped up in wanted me dead for one reason or another and I had to outlast or smash every single one of them. Hiding up a tree was about my only option for relative rest and thats when I saw a massive antlered deerfox cleaning up the wreckage of the fight. I was terrified, I'd seen smaller antlers shoot out arrays of magic missiles from their points, seen smaller things with less muscle that could pounce and wrestle like a weasel crossed with a python. \n It was just my first day and I hid, where I slept being as safe as I could get after killing a hundred different things with my bear hands. The world had a system I could see just as i was falling asleep, it saw my dexterity stamina and toughness and said have some more. When I woke up I had noticably grown, mostly thicker, muscles more defined, belly trimmed down, skin still soft but with a layer underneath. And the fox was still there, tail as long and thick as its body, curled up in a ring, having eaten All the things I killed, still napping at the base of the tree.\n I snuck away, then ran and ran into something that wanted to eat me. I noticed I sweat more, breathed deeper, I wrestled the first thing down after dodging a few attacks and the day went as the previous had. Kill, run, encounter, kill, over and over until the deerfox showed back up, launching a salvo over me and feasting in my wake.\n \"You were bigger back then\" I tell him, earning a waggle from his thick, ribbon like tail.\n \"Had to be, didn't have you\" he says in the strange growling mumble he uses.\n I stroke down the back of his head and kiss the bridge of his nose, making him giggle and wiggle his hips.\n \"I remember how you lit the fire on my second night\" that makes him pout and reach up to boop at me, getting chuckles back as i stroke down the small of his back.\n The rears flick up, twisting and turning as his eyes go distant and spirits deflate, he heard something suspicious. I release him for only a moment before sweeping an arm under his knees and holding the other under his back.\n \"Come on then, dont want you reverting if we have company\"",
