"description": "Artwork originally posted to FA.\n\nThorn\n~Under the Rose~\n\nHISTORY & STORY:\n\nThorn is a Lost Celebi that only exists thanks to the intervention of Galiana and the gods. However, it was not born with a physical body; rather, it was willed into existence, mashed and put together with the leftovers of the Celebi that previously held its position. From Lost, it retains the emotions he gained while split; critically, it kept the hatred and pessimism he gained and not a hint of empathy. From Found, it gained the memories she tried to remember with her flux of emotions, giving it a very limited knowledge of the world based off of feelings it never felt before. And from Galiana, whose healing hand touched both, it gained her physical features to an extent, as well as giving it a clear and present goal.\n\nIt lives the ‘life’ that Lost led when he was split: that of replaying his memories on repeat, doomed to forever haunt a landscape that exists beyond time. Despite this, it doesn’t know these memories are Lost’s own, and only serve to further its hate-filled tendencies and practice its skills. It does not overstep its bounds here, though; it still plays the same role in the story each and every time, and the result is the exact same, as was the memories that was left with it. But just as the memories evolved with Lost’s time spent, so too have they with Thorn. Without the yearning for emotion that Lost had, without the desire to search for truth that Found had, and without the compassion that Gali bestowed upon both, it wreaked havoc upon the story, inch by inch, until it barely resembled even Lost’s recollection.\n\nIn its world, Thorn plays a central role as a figure that brings death, destruction, and the paralysis of time. It believes itself to be the reason why the story keeps playing on repeat and not the circumstances of its world. The figures of the Lost story all appear, but in various forms: its ‘trainer’ is its favorite victim, though it does enjoy torturing every ‘living’ thing in it.\n\nPHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES & POWERS:\n\nThorn’s body is made of a substance more closely related to blood than flesh, and can only be described as a triple-point ooze that shifts between solid, liquid and gaseous. Regardless of its shape, and perhaps because of how it is tied to reality, its body blurs at the edge, as if the substance is escaping its body, or exuding a power it can’t keep contained. For the most part, its body is stable relative to whatever form it chooses to be in, but occasionally some parts of its limbs may melt or drip. At other times, its body may be visibly burning and emitting a gas similar in color to its body. Most of its body is the same color, making it difficult to tell what shape its body is if parts are overlapping to the viewer. In this way, it can hide and reform parts of itself right in plain sight, as it is difficult to judge distance from its front alone; its body reflects very little light.\n\nWhile it is formless, its body does still conform to some patterns and some form of reality. It inherited Gali’s body to an extent, letting it copy her features: namely, her antennae, bangs, hair, and general body type. It likes to keep the head shape no matter what form the rest of its body takes, but it likes to outfit the head with a gaping maw that splits the upper and lower halves with sharp teeth, which suits its ability to hide the changes to its body. Aside from this, its lower body can be anything it desires: while it can take Gali’s body shape, it can also reshape it into a more monstrous figure. Scythes for hands, knives for feet, separating its limbs so it has more limbs; becoming more lithe or more muscular; being as small as a bug or towering over buildings. In sunlight, its features are more lit from below than they are from above.\n\nA few of its features are kept no matter what shape it takes. Its eyes are a constant glowing blue, which only slightly light up its surrounding features. The eyes themselves are usually positioned where eyes would normally be on its face, but it has a habit of moving them around to other spots on its face or torso, even generating extra sets of eyes if it wants. Despite this, it doesn’t see with these eyes, as it is totally blind, and is purely an intimidation tactic it learned to do. Another feature that doesn’t change is that the left half of its face is a dull pink as opposed to the green the rest of its body is. As it stands out a bit, it’s easy to tell where its face is on its body even when its eyes aren’t aligned with it. Because there’s only so little of it to go off of, in addition to it being cracked and broken as if it were the remnants of an egg’s shell, it’s more of a visual cue than anything; this is the only part of its body that is visually definable with no shading, and it changes in proportion if its head shape changes as well, only taking up as much space as it usually would on its regular face. Its body is also set aflame in a few places, with one spot on its head in particular always set on fire; this is also the same color as its body, and is mostly visual. It doesn’t feel pain from these flames, nor does it care that they are there; if extinguished, they will simply light again, likely on a different place on its body, and there are usually a few spots lit up at once anyway. Curiously, they can only be extinguished by suffocating them, as water has no effect on the flames; with its body being able to easily morph, squish, stretch, and be penetrated through, this is harder done than said.\n\nDespite its amorphous form, Thorn does not rely on physical or brute force for its end goals, as terrifying as it may be to watch its body morph, though it can still slam parts of its body against foes for impact damage. Instead, Thorn relies on its enhanced psychic capabilities in ways unique to it. First and foremost is its own immunity to physical damage; as it does not have a physical body with which to damage, it makes sense that it would be impervious to being hit itself. This does not mean it can’t take any damage, though; it remains vulnerable to psychic and otherwise indirect attacks. One of the biggest contributing factors to this is the act of healing: its ties to Gali means that her own healing of others hurts Thorn, as well as any healing done towards it, no matter the distance.\n\nThis ties into another of its abilities, a permanent Heal Block-esque quality that prevents any sort of healing around it, including to itself. Its body and the gasses it emits are responsible for this effect, and don’t dilute with distance travelled, but with time. By the time the quality of the air reaches a certain parts per billion, its sphere of reach easy becomes well into the hundreds of kilometers surrounding it, and depending on how long it stays in an area, it can take anywhere from a few days to entire years for its heal-blocking effect to subside.\n\nThe most dangerous of Thorn’s abilities lies within its power of suggestion. It relies on finding mental weak points and exploiting fears, and is the sole driver behind intrusive thoughts; one might say any intrusive thought is a result of its tampering. In this regard, it relies on the minds of its victims being weak enough to be affected, but due to the exponential nature of its influence, even the tiniest flaw in one’s mind or psyche can lead to its victory. It is a master of sowing doubt and disarray, causing its victims to make mistakes they are unable to heal from without even lifting a finger itself. When using this technique, it usually invades the mind of its foe to find such exploits, reading their stream of consciousness and reacting accordingly by inserting its own wicked imagery and thoughts as if they were its victim’s own. It then takes the weakness and compounds upon it until the victim is overtaken by fears, lies, and the necessity for action that would be counterproductive to their original aim.\n\nIts range of influence is the same as its heal-blocking range, lasting for the same amount of time even after it moves on; it has to first sense a living being for it to start tormenting them, and even then it may be juggling multiple victims at a time, choosing to haunt the most vulnerable first. Indeed, should it exist on any given planet for a good amount of time, its evil can spread to all of its inhabitants and affect even the most resilient. Without the ability to heal and plagued by self-doubt and destructive thoughts, Thorn has the potential to wipe out armies if it were to reach the right people, devastate empires with war where the injured are sentenced to death with the smallest nick, and cause entire civilizations to collapse should it be allowed to exist on the same planet as any form of life.\n\n...However, it is trapped in its own prison, a land beyond time where only it exists, and where it cannot spread. It poses a threat to no one...yet.\n\nIts connections to Gali, Lost, and Found allow it to affect them, and be in turn affected by them, even across universes and dimensions, though in very limited ways. Its tormenting ways are relegated to only appearing during dreams and desperate moments of weakness to them, posing a threat to them as much as it would anyone else it could reach, though with a limited window of opportunity and with only its power of suggestion to work with. This is enough for Thorn to manipulate their thoughts and dreams to an extent, but simply waking up or being distracted by something else is enough for its direct connection with them to fail. Gali’s healing in her world also hurts Thorn in its, but no healing done this way would be enough to kill it.\n\nBy and large its most noticeable impact on the universe is its presence in Mute’s body. As Mute too was made from the remains of Gali’s endeavor to save Lost and Found, it is only natural the two are connected. It makes up half of who Mute is, a second personality within that speaks through the skinned half of her body, but has no access to her bodily functions nor can influence her powers. She is another of Thorn’s favorite victims, and while Gali and co. have placed seals on Mute to keep the voice from speaking to others in their world, it still speaks to Mute in her mind. Mute being meek and crippled both physically and mentally makes it hard for her to fight back, and while Gali is seeking a way to free Mute of Thorn’s influence, she has yet to find a solution. All the while, Thorn is speaking to Mute directly, trying to influence her to do Thorn’s dark bidding. Thorn’s presence in Mute is also why the Celebi is unable to heal properly, as well as contributing to her physical state.\n\nCURRENT STATUS:\n\nThorn seeks revenge against Gali and the gods for its creation, as well as plunging the world into an unhealable state. It seeks to do this by manifesting itself in her universe through Mute, but it is actively seeking to escape from its timeless prison. After which, it would be able to use its unique physical abilities to ward off attempts to defeat it, as well as being able to inflict damage directly.\n\n...though, its time spent in Mute’s body may alter its course, and only time will tell if it will ever surface. While it can be faintly heard speaking at the same time as Mute, it seems to have a personality of its own. It only acts reluctantly; its desire for others to suffer is often too great for its other feelings – if it even has any – to be explored in any meaningful detail, and it is often overbearing when given time to talk. Its manipulative nature also sets Gali and the others on edge, who are wary of its tricks, though only Mute is weak enough to fall for some of its deceptions. Lost and Found give what it says some thought, but quickly come to a different conclusion than what it proposes, or work out the ways in which it is wrong, while Gali outright does not listen to it, rebuffs it, or even acknowledge it, choosing to instead respond to Mute.\n\nFor the most part, Thorn is an irredeemable being who only exists to bring suffering. It is unknown if it could ever coexist with other living beings with its physical body, as it does not seem to have morals or empathy, and its desire for the suffering of others coupled with its abilities makes it lethal to even be around, much less live with. Its ability to block all healing and its manipulative nature can make even a passing interaction with it enough to change the fate of a life, with its effects likely lasting long after its influence can no longer be felt.\n\n---\n\nwell, I guess it was a matter of time. Teased at the end of the last Soul in the Dark chapter, here is Thorn, the \"replacement\" for Lost. It's carving out its own story, though...\n\nHesitant to call this...thing, a creepypasta character, as its lore is still ongoing. And it just don't feel right to me to barge onto the scene with such a nothing character. But it exists as a villain to Gali, and taken from its context it might be creepy in its own right, with no Gali necessary to show off how evil it can be. Maybe an instance of one of its stories would be better at exemplifying this. But until then, it will live on in the shadow of shadows...slinking back, ever watching, ever waiting for its moment to come again. ",

The figures of the Lost story all appear, but in various forms: its &lsquo;trainer&rsquo; is its favorite victim, though it does enjoy torturing every &lsquo;living&rsquo; thing in it.<br /><br />PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES &amp; POWERS:<br /><br />Thorn&rsquo;s body is made of a substance more closely related to blood than flesh, and can only be described as a triple-point ooze that shifts between solid, liquid and gaseous. Regardless of its shape, and perhaps because of how it is tied to reality, its body blurs at the edge, as if the substance is escaping its body, or exuding a power it can&rsquo;t keep contained. In this way, it can hide and reform parts of itself right in plain sight, as it is difficult to judge distance from its front alone; its body reflects very little light.<br /><br />While it is formless, its body does still conform to some patterns and some form of reality. It inherited Gali&rsquo;s body to an extent, letting it copy her features: namely, her antennae, bangs, hair, and general body type. It likes to keep the head shape no matter what form the rest of its body takes, but it likes to outfit the head with a gaping maw that splits the upper and lower halves with sharp teeth, which suits its ability to hide the changes to its body. Aside from this, its lower body can be anything it desires: while it can take Gali&rsquo;s body shape, it can also reshape it into a more monstrous figure. Scythes for hands, knives for feet, separating its limbs so it has more limbs; becoming more lithe or more muscular; being as small as a bug or towering over buildings. In sunlight, its features are more lit from below than they are from above.<br /><br />A few of its features are kept no matter what shape it takes. Its eyes are a constant glowing blue, which only slightly light up its surrounding features. The eyes themselves are usually positioned where eyes would normally be on its face, but it has a habit of moving them around to other spots on its face or torso, even generating extra sets of eyes if it wants. Despite this, it doesn&rsquo;t see with these eyes, as it is totally blind, and is purely an intimidation tactic it learned to do. Another feature that doesn&rsquo;t change is that the left half of its face is a dull pink as opposed to the green the rest of its body is. As it stands out a bit, it&rsquo;s easy to tell where its face is on its body even when its eyes aren&rsquo;t aligned with it. Because there&rsquo;s only so little of it to go off of, in addition to it being cracked and broken as if it were the remnants of an egg&rsquo;s shell, it&rsquo;s more of a visual cue than anything; this is the only part of its body that is visually definable with no shading, and it changes in proportion if its head shape changes as well, only taking up as much space as it usually would on its regular face. Its body is also set aflame in a few places, with one spot on its head in particular always set on fire; this is also the same color as its body, and is mostly visual. It doesn&rsquo;t feel pain from these flames, nor does it care that they are there; if extinguished, they will simply light again, likely on a different place on its body, and there are usually a few spots lit up at once anyway. Curiously, they can only be extinguished by suffocating them, as water has no effect on the flames; with its body being able to easily morph, squish, stretch, and be penetrated through, this is harder done than said.<br /><br />Despite its amorphous form, Thorn does not rely on physical or brute force for its end goals, as terrifying as it may be to watch its body morph, though it can still slam parts of its body against foes for impact damage. Instead, Thorn relies on its enhanced psychic capabilities in ways unique to it. First and foremost is its own immunity to physical damage; as it does not have a physical body with which to damage, it makes sense that it would be impervious to being hit itself. This does not mean it can&rsquo;t take any damage, though; it remains vulnerable to psychic and otherwise indirect attacks. One of the biggest contributing factors to this is the act of healing: its ties to Gali means that her own healing of others hurts Thorn, as well as any healing done towards it, no matter the distance.<br /><br />This ties into another of its abilities, a permanent Heal Block-esque quality that prevents any sort of healing around it, including to itself. Its body and the gasses it emits are responsible for this effect, and don&rsquo;t dilute with distance travelled, but with time. By the time the quality of the air reaches a certain parts per billion, its sphere of reach easy becomes well into the hundreds of kilometers surrounding it, and depending on how long it stays in an area, it can take anywhere from a few days to entire years for its heal-blocking effect to subside.<br /><br />The most dangerous of Thorn&rsquo;s abilities lies within its power of suggestion. It relies on finding mental weak points and exploiting fears, and is the sole driver behind intrusive thoughts; one might say any intrusive thought is a result of its tampering. In this regard, it relies on the minds of its victims being weak enough to be affected, but due to the exponential nature of its influence, even the tiniest flaw in one&rsquo;s mind or psyche can lead to its victory. It is a master of sowing doubt and disarray, causing its victims to make mistakes they are unable to heal from without even lifting a finger itself. When using this technique, it usually invades the mind of its foe to find such exploits, reading their stream of consciousness and reacting accordingly by inserting its own wicked imagery and thoughts as if they were its victim&rsquo;s own. It then takes the weakness and compounds upon it until the victim is overtaken by fears, lies, and the necessity for action that would be counterproductive to their original aim.<br /><br />Its range of influence is the same as its heal-blocking range, lasting for the same amount of time even after it moves on; it has to first sense a living being for it to start tormenting them, and even then it may be juggling multiple victims at a time, choosing to haunt the most vulnerable first. Indeed, should it exist on any given planet for a good amount of time, its evil can spread to all of its inhabitants and affect even the most resilient. Without the ability to heal and plagued by self-doubt and destructive thoughts, Thorn has the potential to wipe out armies if it were to reach the right people, devastate empires with war where the injured are sentenced to death with the smallest nick, and cause entire civilizations to collapse should it be allowed to exist on the same planet as any form of life.<br /><br />...However, it is trapped in its own prison, a land beyond time where only it exists, and where it cannot spread. It poses a threat to no one...yet.<br /><br />Its connections to Gali, Lost, and Found allow it to affect them, and be in turn affected by them, even across universes and dimensions, though in very limited ways. Gali&rsquo;s healing in her world also hurts Thorn in its, but no healing done this way would be enough to kill it.<br /><br />By and large its most noticeable impact on the universe is its presence in Mute&rsquo;s body. As Mute too was made from the remains of Gali&rsquo;s endeavor to save Lost and Found, it is only natural the two are connected. It makes up half of who Mute is, a second personality within that speaks through the skinned half of her body, but has no access to her bodily functions nor can influence her powers. She is another of Thorn&rsquo;s favorite victims, and while Gali and co. have placed seals on Mute to keep the voice from speaking to others in their world, it still speaks to Mute in her mind. Mute being meek and crippled both physically and mentally makes it hard for her to fight back, and while Gali is seeking a way to free Mute of Thorn&rsquo;s influence, she has yet to find a solution. All the while, Thorn is speaking to Mute directly, trying to influence her to do Thorn&rsquo;s dark bidding. Thorn&rsquo;s presence in Mute is also why the Celebi is unable to heal properly, as well as contributing to her physical state.<br /><br />CURRENT STATUS:<br /><br />Thorn seeks revenge against Gali and the gods for its creation, as well as plunging the world into an unhealable state. It seeks to do this by manifesting itself in her universe through Mute, but it is actively seeking to escape from its timeless prison. After which, it would be able to use its unique physical abilities to ward off attempts to defeat it, as well as being able to inflict damage directly.<br /><br />...though, its time spent in Mute&rsquo;s body may alter its course, and only time will tell if it will ever surface. While it can be faintly heard speaking at the same time as Mute, it seems to have a personality of its own. It only acts reluctantly; its desire for others to suffer is often too great for its other feelings &ndash; if it even has any &ndash; to be explored in any meaningful detail, and it is often overbearing when given time to talk. Its manipulative nature also sets Gali and the others on edge, who are wary of its tricks, though only Mute is weak enough to fall for some of its deceptions. Lost and Found give what it says some thought, but quickly come to a different conclusion than what it proposes, or work out the ways in which it is wrong, while Gali outright does not listen to it, rebuffs it, or even acknowledge it, choosing to instead respond to Mute.<br /><br />For the most part, Thorn is an irredeemable being who only exists to bring suffering. It is unknown if it could ever coexist with other living beings with its physical body, as it does not seem to have morals or empathy, and its desire for the suffering of others coupled with its abilities makes it lethal to even be around, much less live with. Its ability to block all healing and its manipulative nature can make even a passing interaction with it enough to change the fate of a life, with its effects likely lasting long after its influence can no longer be felt.<br /><br />---<br /><br />well, I guess it was a matter of time. Teased at the end of the last Soul in the Dark chapter, here is Thorn, the &quot;replacement&quot; for Lost. It&#039;s carving out its own story, though...<br /><br />Hesitant to call this...thing, a creepypasta character, as its lore is still ongoing. And it just don&#039;t feel right to me to barge onto the scene with such a nothing character. </span>",
