  "writing": "I have received some private messages on Discord and FaceBook asking how I recover lost files, many with requests of recovering their files. It is not exactly recovering the file but rebuilding the fragments of one.\n\nThe History:\n\nSometime in June 2019, something happened to my Lenovo Laptop's hard drive, as there was a high pitched whine, some clattering noises and then the sound of the hard drive spinning down while Windows XP coughed up a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death).  I thought it was a minor breakdown, similar to the Old Mac OS 7 - 9 going through a B-Tree Directory Failure. A B-Tree Directory Failure is the file directory built up similar to a tree with true sub-directories, and when one of the branches to a sub-directory gets over loaded with files, it gets corrupt as data over-writes itself and the branch snaps off (in short, it self-deletes). But this was worst - it was a head crash.\n\nIf booted from a USB Drive or CD ROM, somehow part of the directory was readable, and about 30% of the files were intact that they could be transferred. But about 40% of the files were unrecoverable as they were unreadable. This leaves the remaining 30% that were readable but corrupt. In short, part of the file was intact, and the rest of the file was nothing more than scrambled eggs for data. At least they too could be transferred to a USB Drive to recover on a later date.\n\nText (story) files I could try to rewrite the missing parts.\n\nImage files, that is why I did this. Sometimes in double clicking an image file, Microsoft Office Picture Manager or Windows Picture and Fax Viewer will open the file with corruption.  If it opens with corruption, then there is a chance to recover it using Photoshop, GIMP, or MS Paint.\n\nThe text on the image description is as follows:\n\nPanel 1:\n1) Corrupt File:\nData Corruption (layer)\nBlank Data (layer)\n\nPanel 2:\n2) Use similar or background file to recover broken image\n(In this case it's the background file)\n\nPanel 3:\n3) Select area for file recovering:\nSelect and copy area needed to patch into corrupted file.\n(Area selected for recovery)\n\nPanel 4:\n4) Paste selected area into corrupted file...\nMake adjustments on it to fit it into place.\n(Area pasted and fitted into place.)\n\nPanel 5:\n5) Flatten pasted layer and save file.\n(Corrupted file recovered...)\n\nNote: In Panel 4, this is a simple fix of fitting into the corrupted area a part from another image.
