During his tenure there, drowning and near drowning dropped from 10 - 15 a day to 2 - 3 a day. The large swimming pool also claimed a few lives during the night time hours.\n\nBut once in a while Fernando would be ordered to take a post at another site. Beach Life Guarding he hated with a passion, because Beach Life Guard would think of themselves as better life guards than Pool Life Guards. Of this he had to punch out several assholes that disrespected him. But one summer, he was transferred to Astoria Pool because Jefferson was undergoing some major plumbing repairs and filter replacements.
