The reason that his chest and front torso are covered more than his back is that his cape is just as impenetrable as the rest of his armor. The point of his chest armor is to protect what his cape can not readily protect while being light weight enough to move freely and quickly. Plus, in an ability that D. Dan has yet to master or even perform due to still being too much on the novice side, it leaves room for wings of light to freely grow from his back. This instance is a result of several moves that are all rank S type moves and D. Dan is still having troubles with learning rank B moves. Even after the graduation, some things must still be learned and can not be taught in class but in life.
