Who wouldn't want the luxury of flight and a beautiful lifetime pet? They were quite smart as far as wild animals go, able to learn commands from their owners and even understand some basic phrases with enough training. Emotional intelligence being just above that of a horse as well.\n\nThe population of these special avians was somewhat small, and their natural fertility rates weren't high enough to keep up with the need for new healthy chicks. So the smart folks in charge came upon a simple solution. They would gather together any loftwings their owners were willing to volunteer and selectively breed them, exaggerating their sexually productive traits to help increase the fertility of the general population.\n\nHowever, after a few generations of what appeared to be great success, they quickly ran into some unforeseen consequences. For those who don't understand the unique world of bird genetics, males are able to directly pass down sex-related traits to their sons without interference from the mother. They also possess a rather large quantity of genes in their sex chromosomes. This leads to a higher rate of sexual genetic mutation that easily spreads throughout the male population. This would seem quite useful to the cause at a glance. After all, having more fertile males was half of the goal! These young and freshly mature loftwings were certainly incredibly fertile. Larger, more developed sex organs, which delivered high volumes of sperm-rich semen.
