"writing": "Chapter 5\n\n\n\tFlint combed through the list of missions available for the day with uncertainty. After last night’s fiasco it was no wonder they overslept so most of the quests available for Rank 1 members were taken by other teams hours ago and the ones remaining were either for higher ranked groups or had hardly any information for them to go on.\n\n\t“What do you think about this one?” asked Flint to Rex and Dan, pointing at the “Tree High Fort” Quest. “There isn’t a lot of information on it, but the way things look it won’t be very far off from where we were yesterday.”\n\n\t“Yeah, but it says here that it is also has Fragments around. Do you think we’ll be up to it?”\n\n\t“Fragments?” asked Rex. What are they?”\n\n\t“You can’t seriously tell me that you joined the Treasure Guild without any idea on such an important thing as Fragments?” asked Digitamamon.\n\n\t“Well, are they that dangerous?” asked Flint.\n\n\t“Potentially,” explained Dan. “They are just as mysterious as the locations that spawn in the world. They appear to have similar qualities to Digimon, but they are not quite Digimon. It isn’t certain if they are creatures that get sent along with the locations to the Digital World or if it is some side effect the results between the Digital World connected with the location. It is hard to say, since it isn’t easy to communicate with them. As for being dangerous, it varies. In some cases they are friendly, other times they are more reluctant to be near strangers, but there are times when they will be violent and dangerous to anyone who gets into their territory. I doubt it would be the later for a Rank 1 mission.”\n\n\t“That makes sense,” commented Flint. “But it might still be dangerous. What do you think, Rex?”\n\n\t“I say we go now and ask questions later,” he stated. “Let’s just get this show on the road.”\n\n\t“You shouldn’t take Fragments so lightly,” said Digitamamon. “They can be quite troublesome even if they aren’t dangerous and I’m sure they won’t appreciate you monkeying around in territory.”\n\n\t“Why you!” shouted Rex, ready to attack Digitamamon, but Flint held him back as best he could. Dan made the necessary preparations for the mission then helped Flint carry Rex out. He cooled down as they reached their camp and gathered supplies. After that they were off without a hitch.\n\n\tThey assumed that venturing through the forest again, though in a completely different direction. The floral quickly grew denser much quicker. It was getting difficult for Dan to follow Rex and Flint without his backpack full of supplies. Fortunately, they came across a path that made traveling much easier.\n\n\t“Good thing, this path was here,” commented Dan, stretching. “I was starting to get a cramp.”\n\n\t“But there doesn’t seem to be any indication of a path in the DigiPad,” replied Flint.\n\n\t“Don’t worry about it,” said Rex. “As long as it makes getting to our destination easier, who’s complaining?”\n\n\t“I doubt it’d make finding the Tree High Fort any easier,” retorted Flint.\n\n\t“Actually,” began Dan, pointing out in front of them. They looked to see what appeared to be a large tree house off in the distance. They also observed clusters of smaller tree houses spread out around it. Flint gawked at it, lost for words while Rex grinned as if this had been a win for him.\n\n\t“Kind of disappointing,” Flint mentioned. “We might not even see any Fragments at this rate.”\n\n\t“We can put ourselves in mortal danger next time,” smiled Rex. “Let’s get a move on it.” He pulled Flint by the arm down the path, towards the tree houses.\n\n\n\tThe closer they got to their destination, the more tree houses they passed along the way. Flint and Dan (not Rex since he hates climbing trees) climbed the rope ladders to the top to see what was inside of them, but save for some furniture and bananas they were empty. Still, it was mysterious that nobody was around since some of the bananas were already peeled and not too long ago. They were also certain they heard something running through the trees, but every time they turned to look, it was gone. They rushed back to one another to report their suspicions.\n\n\t“I don’t think we’re the only ones here,” cried Flint nervously.\n\n\t“Yeah, we’re definitely being watched,” Dan replied. A fierce gleam glowed in his eyes.\n\n\t“Are you alright?” asked Flint. “You seem a bit intense.”\n\n\t“Oh,” said Dan, quickly calming down. “Just nervous is all. We have to get Rex, get the Tree High Fort and then get out of here.”\n\n\t“One little problem with that,” Flint pointed out. Dan saw what he was getting at. Rex was nowhere to be seen.\n\n\tThey jumped down and began to search around for him. “There he is,” said Flint, pointing at a tree. They could see a blue tail and red bandana sticking out behind it. “Is he expecting to jump out and scare us? Well I’ll show him.”\n\n\tDan looked himself and quickly realized that Flint wasn’t right in his assumption. “Uh, Flint, that’s not…” he began to say. He was too late, as Flint squeezed the tail of the creature behind the tree.\n\n\tHe expected a yelp, but got an even louder shriek as a big blue monkey jumped out from behind the tree. It quickly scampered to the treetops and looked down making eye contact with Flint allowing both to get a good look at one another. Flint saw that besides its fur being practically the same shade as Rex it looked completely different. It also wore a red bandana on its head, but it had an image of a banana on it.\n\n\t“What is that thing?” asked Flint.\n\n\t“Probably one of the fragments,” replied Dan. “And I don’t think you made a very good first impression. We better find Rex fast before anything else happens.”\n\n\t“Hey guys,” called Rex running back through the forest.\n\n\t“You were supposed to stay put!” barked Flint. “Just where did you have to go?”\n\n\t“Behind that tree,” Rex said bluntly, though it only served to enrage Flint further.\n\n\t“We’re surrounded by Fragments so we have to get moving now,” Flint ordered Rex as he grabbed his arm and led him onward. The Fragment in the tree was watching the entire time and quickly began shrieking again, but it was different from the noise it made earlier and it didn’t take long for them to realize what it meant. It was calling the others in the village and in no time at all they assembled and they didn’t look like they were throwing them a welcoming party.\n\n\tFlint and Rex hugged each other tightly; nervous about the sheer number they were up against. Dan seemed tense as well. “This might be a bit of a problem,” he whispered.\n\n\t“A ‘bit of a problem?’” Rex whispered back, though he was on the verge of screaming. “There’s no way we can take on half this many.”\n\n\t“When I give the signal we run in separate directions,” explained Dan. “We’ll lose them in the forest and try to meet up at the temple later. That’s the best show we have.”\n\n\t“But what if they all come after me?” cried Rex.\n\n\t“Why would they do that?” asked Flint. “I was the one who pulled that one Fragment’s tail. If anything, they’ll chase after me.”\n\n\t“Everyone ready?” asked Dan. They both nodded. “Three… two… one… RUN!!!”\n\n\tWith that they all jetted towards the Tree High Fort. They looked for an opening in the forest and ran towards it. The village of monkeys rained down from the trees, shrieking and howling like wild beasts. Their combined stampeding made the ground shake beneath their feet. Looking back occasionally, Team Matrix turned to see just how many monkeys were following them, but after splitting up they found they weren’t being pursued; two of them anyway.\n\n\t“Told you so!” shouted Rex as the swarm of Fragments raced after him. Flint and Dan then took chase to rescue him, but they were too late as the monkeys were already climbing back up the trees, Rex in the clutches of a pair of them. Just as quickly as they appeared they were gone.\n\n\n\tIt took hours to track down where the Fragments took Rex; so many tree houses and even more trees stood in their way, but their persistence paid off when they saw the swarm of monkeys gathered at one tree house. They took up residence in the nearest one they could reach without alerting the Fragments to their presence. They peeked through the window, curious as to why they took their friend, but nothing they could think of could prepare them for this. Rex was in the big burly arms of one of the monkeys, though it appeared more like an ape by the size of it and judging from its proportions it was female. The most bizarre thing, however, was what she was doing to Rex. She was frantically kissing him all over his face with tears streaming down her eyes. Rex was crying to, but obviously for a much different reason. Flint and Dan knew that they should be concerned for their friend’s safety, but they couldn’t help but laugh hysterically at this.\n\n\t“Do they honestly think that Rex is her baby?” gasped Flint.\n\n\t“I doubt it,” wheezed Dan. “They should be able to tell the difference even if he does resemble them a little. I think the other Fragments wanted to cheer her up and brought the closest thing they could find. She’s probably too happy to realize he isn’t her child.”\n\n\t“Do you think her child is alright?” asked Flint, no longer feeling up to laughing.\n\n\t“I don’t know,” answered Dan. “Finding her child would be the easiest way to remedy this situation, but it may just be a waste of time. It’ll be much harder to get him back by force ourselves.”\n\n\t“Well, we could just call for help on the DigiPad,” commented Flint as he went to the phone setting. “I’m sure they have procedures for this sort of thing.”\n\n\t“You should know,” explained Dan. “That the Treasure Guild will come to help, but not in the way you think. Fragments are not considered Digimon and see them as wild animals. They don’t bother with them so long as they don’t act aggressive, but a single sign of danger and they’ll work to rid the Digital World of the threat and go as far as to burn this entire forest down to do it.” Flint was at a loss for words at how to respond. “There have been several instances of them doing this already, but it is hard to say if it was truly necessary and exterminating them will be their only priority. They won’t even consider rescuing Rex no matter the circumstances.”\n\n\t“How can they do something like that?” asked Flint, putting away the DigiPad.\n\n\t“They have to look at the big picture,” explained Dan. “At least that’s what they say. And it also the responsibility of whoever phones it in. So, what are we going to do? You are our leader.”\n\n\t“Do you even need to ask?” replied Flint. “We find her baby.”\n\n\n\tThe sky grew a pale shade of pink as they end of the day drew near. Flint and Dan had searched for hours, but their efforts bore no fruit. It was like looking for a needle in a haystack and there was no guarantee if the needle was even findable.\n\n\t“What are we going to do?” yawned Flint, tired from all the trekking they did.\n\n\t“I don’t know,” replied Dan. “We could search for days and still come up empty.”\n\n\t“It’s just got to be out there somewhere,” moaned Flint. “We’ve searched nearly every foot of this forest so where else could it be?”\n\n\tAs if to answer his question a banana peel fell from the tree house above them and landed “SPLAT!” on Flint’s head. It then occurred to them that they had neglected to search the tree houses. There was still the possibility that it was a different blue monkey, but they hadn’t gotten a break all day.\n\n\n\tSlowly they crept up the ladder and peeked in the window. They saw a monkey merrily eating a bushel of bananas. It looked just like the other Fragments, but smaller, just about Rex’s size. Their heart rate accelerated as they knew they had found their monkey. They cautiously approached it, making sure to prevent it from getting past them in case it got spooked by them.\n\n\t“Uh, excuse me,” Flint said in the calmest voice he could muster to get the creature’s attention. It stopped eating and looked them both over curiously. It didn’t look scared, but curious and approached them. “Do you think he understands us, Dan? Nod if you understand us.” The monkey did, proving to easily understand them. “Good. You see our friend, who looks like you, was mistakenly taken by some other monkeys. They took him to another monkey, I guess your mother, and now she thinks he is you.” The monkey took that in for a moment before falling to the grounding shrieking, though it sounded more like laughter. “We need you to come with us so we can sort this out and get our friend back.” They monkey quickly stopped laughing upon hearing this and grew worried. He didn’t seem to want to return home.\n\n\t“Are you alright?” asked Dan, leaning in closer. As he did the monkey took the opportunity to jump through the opening in their defense and out the door.\n\n\t“We can’t let him get away!” shouted Flint running after him. The monkey quickly ran across the treetops and Flint gave pursuit. Dan was soon to follow, but he found that even without his backpack he’d risk breaking through the floorboards. Flint was going to need his help, no doubt, but how? Then a thought crossed his mind. He made his way down to the ground and quickly pursued Flint and the monkey.\n\n\tFlint did his best to pursue his quarry, but he was barely able to keep up and it only seemed amused at his attempts, like this was all a game. This mission seemed like a cake walk and now it felt like the most frustrating thing in the world, but he was not going to let it beat him. The monkey dove towards a lone tree branch, much too distant from anything else for it to grab onto. Flint saw this as his chance and leaped after him.\n\n\tHis heart pounded and he was reaching his limits, but at this moment, Flint didn’t think he could feel more energetic, just at the thought of finally catching that infernal monkey. It was instantly shattered as the monkey somersaulted backwards, grabbing the branch with its tail to swing back around. Flint was helpless as the completely missed the monkey and landed in the muddy ground below. The monkey regained its footing on the branch and chortled at the muddy Digimon below.\n\n\tDirty and humiliated, Flint was unsure what to do next. He glared at the monkey, imagining several horrible things he would do if he ever got his hands on it, but they brought his gaze up a bit at a small dot growing larger and closer quickly. The Fragment monkey was too busy laughing to notice as it approached him from behind and collided with it. Flint recognized the object as Dan’s backpack and just in the distance was Dan who was in throwing pose. Like a meteor from the heavens it plowed into the muddy earth, splashing another layer of mud onto Flint.\n\n\tDan rushed up to help his friend out of the mud and then they turned to the backpack. Dan unearthed it to reveal their foe in a monkey-shaped crater and in a daze. When he saw that he was caught, the monkey gave a weak chuckle that was quickly extinguished by the unhappy stares from above.\n\n\n\tIt was dark by the time they returned to the tree house where Rex was. The other monkeys had left, so only Rex and the female monkey were in. As they entered, they saw he was wrapped tightly in her arms as she slept. Rex wasn’t able to sleep, however, though he looked like he had been through a rougher day than Dan and Flint. His bandana and sandals were on the side, of the room.\n\n\t“Rex,” whispered Flint. “We’re here to save you.”\n\n\t“What took you so long?” asked Rex. “Do you know what I’ve been through?”\n\n\tFlint didn’t reply and Rex was glad. With Rex having been babied by a big monkey and Flint still covered a good deal with mud, really weren’t in the mood for another argument. Carefully, Flint freed Rex from her clutches and they made their way to the door as Dan came in to put the monkey in his place.\n\n\tBefore that could happen, the mother awoke and shrieked seeing intruders taking away her child. She quickly alerted the others and they were quickly surrounded. They had no choice, but hope they could sort out this mess now. Dan brought the monkey before her.\n\n\t“Please understand,” said Flint. “You took our friend by mistake. We just want him back and look; we even got your real child.”\n\n\tShe looked between Rex and her child; both didn’t seem too ecstatic about this, but she chose her real child, practically, knocking Rex away as she affectionately hugged and kissed her child like she had done to Rex. The poor thing was getting smothered by her (presumably the reason it left in the first place), but Team Matrix had been through enough to call it a day. The monkeys seemed content that the group of Digimon meant no harm and retreated to go back to sleep. Rex quickly grabbed his stuff and followed Flint and Dan out.\n\n\t“So, you’re not going to be up to any monkey business for a while, I guess,” joked Flint.\n\n\t“Very funny,” retorted Rex. “I may have been at their mercy all day, but it had absolutely no affect on me.” With that he gracefully swung his way down from the tree house with the agility of any of the monkeys there. It was even more impressive since he didn’t like climbing trees in the least. “Now let’s go get the treasure. Hopefully, it is something to eat since the only thing those infernal monkeys would feed me was stinking bananas.”\n\n\n\tArriving at the Tree High Fort, the group proceeded to the main chamber where the treasure resided. They were quite shocked at what they found, but knew it made sense. Since, after all, bananas were not typically found growing in a forest like this one. Rex fell to his knees crying, “I hate bananas…”\n\n\tDan and Flint on the other hand were happy to finally get something to eat. They also didn’t have the heart to tell him that in his haste to get over here he had mistakenly taken the mother monkey’s bandana, so he was no sporting the image of a banana on his forehead.",

cried Flint nervously.<br /><br />\t&ldquo;Yeah, we&rsquo;re definitely being watched,&rdquo; Dan replied.&nbsp;&nbsp;A fierce gleam glowed in his eyes.<br /><br />\t&ldquo;Are you alright?&rdquo; asked Flint.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; You seem a bit intense.&rdquo;<br /><br />\t&ldquo;Oh,&rdquo; said Dan, quickly calming down.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Just nervous is all.&nbsp;&nbsp; We have to get Rex, get the Tree High Fort and then get out of here.&rdquo;<br /><br />\t&ldquo;One little problem with that,&rdquo; Flint pointed out.&nbsp;&nbsp;Dan saw what he was getting at.&nbsp;&nbsp;Rex was nowhere to be seen.<br /><br />\tThey jumped down and began to search around for him.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; There he is,&rdquo; said Flint, pointing at a tree.&nbsp;&nbsp; They could see a blue tail and red bandana sticking out behind it.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; Is he expecting to jump out and scare us?&nbsp;&nbsp;Well I&rsquo;ll show him.&rdquo;<br /><br />\tDan looked himself and quickly realized that Flint wasn&rsquo;t right in his assumption.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Uh, Flint, that&rsquo;s not&hellip;&rdquo; he began to say.&nbsp;&nbsp; He was too late, as Flint squeezed the tail of the creature behind the tree.<br /><br />\tHe expected a yelp, but got an even louder shriek as a big blue monkey jumped out from behind the tree.&nbsp;&nbsp; It quickly scampered to the treetops and looked down making eye contact with Flint allowing both to get a good look at one another.&nbsp;&nbsp;Flint saw that besides its fur being practically the same shade as Rex it looked completely different.&nbsp;&nbsp; It also wore a red bandana on its head, but it had an image of a banana on it.<br /><br />\t&ldquo;What is that thing?&rdquo; asked Flint.<br /><br />\t&ldquo;Probably one of the fragments,&rdquo; replied Dan.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; And I don&rsquo;t think you made a very good first impression.&nbsp;&nbsp; We better find Rex fast before anything else happens.&rdquo;<br /><br />\t&ldquo;Hey guys,&rdquo; called Rex running back through the forest.<br /><br />\t&ldquo;You were supposed to stay put!&rdquo; barked Flint.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Just where did you have to go?&rdquo;<br /><br />\t&ldquo;Behind that tree,&rdquo; Rex said bluntly, though it only served to enrage Flint further.<br /><br />\t&ldquo;We&rsquo;re surrounded by Fragments so we have to get moving now,&rdquo; Flint ordered Rex as he grabbed his arm and led him onward.&nbsp;&nbsp; The Fragment in the tree was watching the entire time and quickly began shrieking again, but it was different from the noise it made earlier and it didn&rsquo;t take long for them to realize what it meant.&nbsp;&nbsp; It was calling the others in the village and in no time at all they assembled and they didn&rsquo;t look like they were throwing them a welcoming party.<br /><br />\tFlint and Rex hugged each other tightly; nervous about the sheer number they were up against.&nbsp;&nbsp;Dan seemed tense as well.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; This might be a bit of a problem,&rdquo; he whispered.<br /><br />\t&ldquo;A &lsquo;bit of a problem?&rsquo;&rdquo; Rex whispered back, though he was on the verge of screaming.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; There&rsquo;s no way we can take on half this many.&rdquo;<br /><br />\t&ldquo;When I give the signal we run in separate directions,&rdquo; explained Dan.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; We&rsquo;ll lose them in the forest and try to meet up at the temple later.&nbsp;&nbsp; That&rsquo;s the best show we have.&rdquo;<br /><br />\t&ldquo;But what if they all come after me?&rdquo; cried Rex.<br /><br />\t&ldquo;Why would they do that?&rdquo; asked Flint.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;I was the one who pulled that one Fragment&rsquo;s tail.&nbsp;&nbsp; If anything, they&rsquo;ll chase after me.&rdquo;<br /><br />\t&ldquo;Everyone ready?&rdquo; asked Dan.&nbsp;&nbsp; They both nodded.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Three&hellip; two&hellip; one&hellip; RUN!!!&rdquo;<br /><br />\tWith that they all jetted towards the Tree High Fort.&nbsp;&nbsp; They looked for an opening in the forest and ran towards it.&nbsp;&nbsp; The village of monkeys rained down from the trees, shrieking and howling like wild beasts.&nbsp;&nbsp;Their combined stampeding made the ground shake beneath their feet.&nbsp;&nbsp;Looking back occasionally, Team Matrix turned to see just how many monkeys were following them, but after splitting up they found they weren&rsquo;t being pursued; two of them anyway.<br /><br />\t&ldquo;Told you so!&rdquo; shouted Rex as the swarm of Fragments raced after him.&nbsp;&nbsp;Flint and Dan then took chase to rescue him, but they were too late as the monkeys were already climbing back up the trees, Rex in the clutches of a pair of them.&nbsp;&nbsp;Just as quickly as they appeared they were gone.<br /><br /><br />\tIt took hours to track down where the Fragments took Rex; so many tree houses and even more trees stood in their way, but their persistence paid off when they saw the swarm of monkeys gathered at one tree house.&nbsp;&nbsp; They took up residence in the nearest one they could reach without alerting the Fragments to their presence.&nbsp;&nbsp; They peeked through the window, curious as to why they took their friend, but nothing they could think of could prepare them for this.&nbsp;&nbsp;Rex was in the big burly arms of one of the monkeys, though it appeared more like an ape by the size of it and judging from its proportions it was female.&nbsp;&nbsp; The most bizarre thing, however, was what she was doing to Rex.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was frantically kissing him all over his face with tears streaming down her eyes.&nbsp;&nbsp;Rex was crying to, but obviously for a much different reason.&nbsp;&nbsp;Flint and Dan knew that they should be concerned for their friend&rsquo;s safety, but they couldn&rsquo;t help but laugh hysterically at this.<br /><br />\t&ldquo;Do they honestly think that Rex is her baby?&rdquo; gasped Flint.<br /><br />\t&ldquo;I doubt it,&rdquo; wheezed Dan.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; They should be able to tell the difference even if he does resemble them a little.&nbsp;&nbsp;I think the other Fragments wanted to cheer her up and brought the closest thing they could find.&nbsp;&nbsp; She&rsquo;s probably too happy to realize he isn&rsquo;t her child.&rdquo;<br /><br />\t&ldquo;Do you think her child is alright?&rdquo; asked Flint, no longer feeling up to laughing.<br /><br />\t&ldquo;I don&rsquo;t know,&rdquo; answered Dan.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Finding her child would be the easiest way to remedy this situation, but it may just be a waste of time.&nbsp;&nbsp; It&rsquo;ll be much harder to get him back by force ourselves.&rdquo;<br /><br />\t&ldquo;Well, we could just call for help on the DigiPad,&rdquo; commented Flint as he went to the phone setting.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;I&rsquo;m sure they have procedures for this sort of thing.&rdquo;<br /><br />\t&ldquo;You should know,&rdquo; explained Dan.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; That the Treasure Guild will come to help, but not in the way you think.&nbsp;&nbsp;Fragments are not considered Digimon and see them as wild animals.&nbsp;&nbsp; They don&rsquo;t bother with them so long as they don&rsquo;t act aggressive, but a single sign of danger and they&rsquo;ll work to rid the Digital World of the threat and go as far as to burn this entire forest down to do it.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Flint was at a loss for words at how to respond.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; There have been several instances of them doing this already, but it is hard to say if it was truly necessary and exterminating them will be their only priority.&nbsp;&nbsp; They won&rsquo;t even consider rescuing Rex no matter the circumstances.&rdquo;<br /><br />\t&ldquo;How can they do something like that?&rdquo; asked Flint, putting away the DigiPad.<br /><br />\t&ldquo;They have to look at the big picture,&rdquo; explained Dan.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; At least that&rsquo;s what they say.&nbsp;&nbsp; And it also the responsibility of whoever phones it in.&nbsp;&nbsp; So, what are we going to do?&nbsp;&nbsp; You are our leader.&rdquo;<br /><br />\t&ldquo;Do you even need to ask?&rdquo; replied Flint.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; We find her baby.&rdquo;<br /><br /><br />\tThe sky grew a pale shade of pink as they end of the day drew near.&nbsp;&nbsp;Flint and Dan had searched for hours, but their efforts bore no fruit.&nbsp;&nbsp; It was like looking for a needle in a haystack and there was no guarantee if the needle was even findable.<br /><br />\t&ldquo;What are we going to do?&rdquo; yawned Flint, tired from all the trekking they did.<br /><br />\t&ldquo;I don&rsquo;t know,&rdquo; replied Dan.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; We could search for days and still come up empty.&rdquo;<br /><br />\t&ldquo;It&rsquo;s just got to be out there somewhere,&rdquo; moaned Flint.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; We&rsquo;ve searched nearly every foot of this forest so where else could it be?&rdquo;<br /><br />\tAs if to answer his question a banana peel fell from the tree house above them and landed &ldquo;SPLAT!&rdquo; on Flint&rsquo;s head.&nbsp;&nbsp; It then occurred to them that they had neglected to search the tree houses.&nbsp;&nbsp; There was still the possibility that it was a different blue monkey, but they hadn&rsquo;t gotten a break all day.<br /><br /><br />\tSlowly they crept up the ladder and peeked in the window.&nbsp;&nbsp; They saw a monkey merrily eating a bushel of bananas.&nbsp;&nbsp; It looked just like the other Fragments, but smaller, just about Rex&rsquo;s size.&nbsp;&nbsp;Their heart rate accelerated as they knew they had found their monkey.&nbsp;&nbsp; They cautiously approached it, making sure to prevent it from getting past them in case it got spooked by them.<br /><br />\t&ldquo;Uh, excuse me,&rdquo; Flint said in the calmest voice he could muster to get the creature&rsquo;s attention.&nbsp;&nbsp; It stopped eating and looked them both over curiously.&nbsp;&nbsp; It didn&rsquo;t look scared, but curious and approached them.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Do you think he understands us, Dan?&nbsp;&nbsp;Nod if you understand us.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; The monkey did, proving to easily understand them.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Good.&nbsp;&nbsp;You see our friend, who looks like you, was mistakenly taken by some other monkeys.&nbsp;&nbsp; They took him to another monkey, I guess your mother, and now she thinks he is you.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; The monkey took that in for a moment before falling to the grounding shrieking, though it sounded more like laughter.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; We need you to come with us so we can sort this out and get our friend back.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; They monkey quickly stopped laughing upon hearing this and grew worried.&nbsp;&nbsp; He didn&rsquo;t seem to want to return home.<br /><br />\t&ldquo;Are you alright?&rdquo; asked Dan, leaning in closer.&nbsp;&nbsp; As he did the monkey took the opportunity to jump through the opening in their defense and out the door.<br /><br />\t&ldquo;We can&rsquo;t let him get away!&rdquo; shouted Flint running after him.&nbsp;&nbsp; The monkey quickly ran across the treetops and Flint gave pursuit.&nbsp;&nbsp;Dan was soon to follow, but he found that even without his backpack he&rsquo;d risk breaking through the floorboards.&nbsp;&nbsp;Flint was going to need his help, no doubt, but how?&nbsp;&nbsp; Then a thought crossed his mind.&nbsp;&nbsp; He made his way down to the ground and quickly pursued Flint and the monkey.<br /><br />\tFlint did his best to pursue his quarry, but he was barely able to keep up and it only seemed amused at his attempts, like this was all a game.&nbsp;&nbsp; This mission seemed like a cake walk and now it felt like the most frustrating thing in the world, but he was not going to let it beat him.&nbsp;&nbsp; The monkey dove towards a lone tree branch, much too distant from anything else for it to grab onto.&nbsp;&nbsp;Flint saw this as his chance and leaped after him.<br /><br />\tHis heart pounded and he was reaching his limits, but at this moment, Flint didn&rsquo;t think he could feel more energetic, just at the thought of finally catching that infernal monkey.&nbsp;&nbsp; It was instantly shattered as the monkey somersaulted backwards, grabbing the branch with its tail to swing back around.&nbsp;&nbsp;Flint was helpless as the completely missed the monkey and landed in the muddy ground below.&nbsp;&nbsp; The monkey regained its footing on the branch and chortled at the muddy Digimon below.<br /><br />\tDirty and humiliated, Flint was unsure what to do next.&nbsp;&nbsp; He glared at the monkey, imagining several horrible things he would do if he ever got his hands on it, but they brought his gaze up a bit at a small dot growing larger and closer quickly.&nbsp;&nbsp; The Fragment monkey was too busy laughing to notice as it approached him from behind and collided with it.&nbsp;&nbsp;Flint recognized the object as Dan&rsquo;s backpack and just in the distance was Dan who was in throwing pose.&nbsp;&nbsp;Like a meteor from the heavens it plowed into the muddy earth, splashing another layer of mud onto Flint.<br /><br />\tDan rushed up to help his friend out of the mud and then they turned to the backpack.&nbsp;&nbsp;Dan unearthed it to reveal their foe in a monkey-shaped crater and in a daze.&nbsp;&nbsp; When he saw that he was caught, the monkey gave a weak chuckle that was quickly extinguished by the unhappy stares from above.<br /><br /><br />\tIt was dark by the time they returned to the tree house where Rex was.&nbsp;&nbsp; The other monkeys had left, so only Rex and the female monkey were in.&nbsp;&nbsp; As they entered, they saw he was wrapped tightly in her arms as she slept.&nbsp;&nbsp;Rex wasn&rsquo;t able to sleep, however, though he looked like he had been through a rougher day than Dan and Flint.&nbsp;&nbsp; His bandana and sandals were on the side, of the room.<br /><br />\t&ldquo;Rex,&rdquo; whispered Flint.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; We&rsquo;re here to save you.&rdquo;<br /><br />\t&ldquo;What took you so long?&rdquo; asked Rex.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Do you know what I&rsquo;ve been through?&rdquo;<br /><br />\tFlint didn&rsquo;t reply and Rex was glad.&nbsp;&nbsp; With Rex having been babied by a big monkey and Flint still covered a good deal with mud, really weren&rsquo;t in the mood for another argument.&nbsp;&nbsp;Carefully, Flint freed Rex from her clutches and they made their way to the door as Dan came in to put the monkey in his place.<br /><br />\tBefore that could happen, the mother awoke and shrieked seeing intruders taking away her child.&nbsp;&nbsp; She quickly alerted the others and they were quickly surrounded.&nbsp;&nbsp; They had no choice, but hope they could sort out this mess now.&nbsp;&nbsp;Dan brought the monkey before her.<br /><br />\t&ldquo;Please understand,&rdquo; said Flint.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; You took our friend by mistake.&nbsp;&nbsp; We just want him back and look; we even got your real child.&rdquo;<br /><br />\tShe looked between Rex and her child; both didn&rsquo;t seem too ecstatic about this, but she chose her real child, practically, knocking Rex away as she affectionately hugged and kissed her child like she had done to Rex.&nbsp;&nbsp; The poor thing was getting smothered by her (presumably the reason it left in the first place), but Team Matrix had been through enough to call it a day.&nbsp;&nbsp; The monkeys seemed content that the group of Digimon meant no harm and retreated to go back to sleep.&nbsp;&nbsp;Rex quickly grabbed his stuff and followed Flint and Dan out.<br /><br />\t&ldquo;So, you&rsquo;re not going to be up to any monkey business for a while, I guess,&rdquo; joked Flint.<br /><br />\t&ldquo;Very funny,&rdquo; retorted Rex.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;I may have been at their mercy all day, but it had absolutely no affect on me.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; With that he gracefully swung his way down from the tree house with the agility of any of the monkeys there.&nbsp;&nbsp; It was even more impressive since he didn&rsquo;t like climbing trees in the least.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; Now let&rsquo;s go get the treasure.&nbsp;&nbsp;Hopefully, it is something to eat since the only thing those infernal monkeys would feed me was stinking bananas.&rdquo;<br /><br /><br />\tArriving at the Tree High Fort, the group proceeded to the main chamber where the treasure resided.&nbsp;&nbsp; They were quite shocked at what they found, but knew it made sense.&nbsp;&nbsp;Since, after all, bananas were not typically found growing in a forest like this one.&nbsp;&nbsp;Rex fell to his knees crying, &ldquo;I hate bananas&hellip;&rdquo;<br /><br />\tDan and Flint on the other hand were happy to finally get something to eat.&nbsp;&nbsp; They also didn&rsquo;t have the heart to tell him that in his haste to get over here he had mistakenly taken the mother monkey&rsquo;s bandana, so he was no sporting the image of a banana on his forehead.</span>",
