\nthere lies a misty lowland veiled in lore
\nwhose simple secrets, hidden and obscure
\nelude so many seekers, rich and poor
\nthat bitterness and rage they did outpour
\nand \"here be dragons!\" was the curse they swore
\nagainst the earth that dared deny rapport.\n\nThus branded as a no-man's land, no more
\nwould seekers chance the journey to explore\n
the unknown wonders cloaked in metaphor\n
or find the footprints left by those before
\nso subtly lit by glow of stars' allure,\n
a testament to those who ne'er forswore
\nthe search for right and meaning, heretofore.\n\nYet dark resentment served to underscore
\nwhat irony their declaration bore!
\nFor dragons have been known since time of yore\n
as guardians of treasures, evermore;\n
and be these gold or jade or secret door
\nthrough which eternal light and wisdom soar,\n
the truth is ever plain in dragon's roar.\n\nBut lo! That truth shall yet come to the fore\n
of minds and hearts and spirits who endure\n
the journey of our life, our cosmic tour
\nand know this trek is more than merely chore.
\nThose secrets which lie hidden on the moor,
\nthough coveted as treasures by the score,
\nare simply symbols of the truth, the core.\n\nIn fact, there are no gems or wealth or ore
\nor artifacts or any goods to store
\nbeneath the earth or waters, to be sure;
\nbut simple beauty and perfection pure
\nwhich sing of unity 'twixt sky and shore
\nand comfort humble hearts forevermore\n
are all you'll find upon the dragon's moor.",
