This particular life form has been sparsely documented on other worlds, infrequently but across a wide distribution. When asked to elaborate, the reporting Ensign is said to have blushed and added, 'overly friendly, Sir.'\n\nThe creature sustains and propagates itself by engulfing the victim, either wholly or partially, harvesting small amounts of protein and genetic material from renewable sources and implanting a modest batch of eggs into the body. The eggs are small and soft and pass through the victim's system harmlessly after incubating for ten to twelve hours. In an age rich with interstellar exploration and myriad space-faring races, this makes for a very effective means of interplanetary dispersal. Further, the generally benign approach to parasitism is theorised to be a more long-term sustainable approach to reproduction than some other documented xenomorphic parasite species, particularly those that have a tendency to kill the victim. While such hostile parasites generally foster species-wide antagonism and are met with military action and extinction risks, the entity described here is frequently viewed with a 'live and let live' stance by Starfleet captains, as it will generally leave victims no worse off than squirming, blushing, and walking a little funny for a day or two.\n\nMature due to implied impending mischief.\n\nPart 2: https://inkbunny.net/submissionview.php?id=983416\nPart 3: https://inkbunny.net/submissionview.php?id=984422",
