Marine took the cat out on her newly built craft and explained the islands most valuable times are usually underwater, hidden away in reefs and sometimes shipwrecks. While Marine did recommend using scuba gear for long trips, she usually went without for most of her dives, even shedding most of her clothing as to maximise speed and efficiency. Blaze was impressed on how much this girl knew about scavenging and trading, despite her somewhat bratty personality. The cat did eventually warm up to the idea of diving after some slow starts and was either taking turns diving and foraging, or going together as naked dive buddies, even going as brave as being able to take on wrecks without gear.
One day, however, was somewhat different than the rest. After making a dive into a deeper reef than normal, Blaze spotted something out the corner of her eye and pointed it to Marine. It was a treasure chest, unopened and untouched but buried in the sand, seemingly remaining as such for a long time. While Marine was ready to go back to the surface to get a breath, but Blaze was naturally curious and swam up to the chest. After rubbing some of the weeds and silty sand from the lid, Blaze spotted a lock on the chest and cupped it in her hands. While she wasn't able to conjure fire underwater, she was able to generate immense heat, allowing her to break the lock off.
Marine watched as the cat examined the chest, feeling a rather uneasy pit in her stomach, telling her something was really off. She couldn't explain to the cat outright, but too was curious about what was inside. If it was pirate treasure, then they would have to go back for a second trip with nets to keep the rewards in. Her lungs burned inside as she watched Blaze try and open the chest, kicking her legs as she looked on with uncertainty, "Mmgblbl..."
Blaze grabbed the lid and began pulling, finding it quite stuck despite the lock breaking free from the chest. She tugged and pulled with all her might, trying to get the box open and find out what was inside, her air pouring past her puffed cheeks, "NNNGHGBLBL!"
And after much toil, the box clicked and the cat slowly opened the lid...
