The tunnels never seemed to end in its unforgiving length, twists and turns. As time passed, the tunnels seemed to get longer and longer without ever having a chance to breathe at all. As each minute slowly crept up, the family were all reaching their limits and were all cold, alone and lost in the flooded caves under the islands of Gallopagos.
Shining was the pony that was holding his worth underwater, spending the time at almost a trace of calmness, having been trained for such occasions where he would be stranded underwater or without much chance to breathe. His heart beat steadily, slowly quickening as panic started to set in, but was settled by calming his mind of worrying thoughts. His member still erect from the cold temperatures, twitching each time a small sliver of air escaped his lips.
Cadence wasn't taking the situation much better. His grip was still on her daughter, but a hand had found itself to her chest, pressing on her heart as her breasts gently bobbed, her nipples erect. She kicked steadily behind her husband, following his movements, but was starting to think he had no idea where he was going, not that she could navigate the tunnels any better. Each time she heard her daughter start to struggle, she had to calm herself not to struggle alongside her, her air bubbling out in small strings.
Flurry, however, was taking the situation worst of all. She couldn't hold her breath as long as her parents and after the first minute was already beginning to feel the pressure weighing down on her. She tried to calm herself, but her worry that she would drown down here was enough to start setting her off. She took her father's advice to let go of her air in small bursts whenever she had trouble, and that managed to last her for a while, but at the second minute she couldn't hold her breath any longer, her cheeks bulging under the strain.
"Ghaaaaghblblhk!!" She yelled, her stale air flowing from her mouth as she flailed her legs.
Cadence instantly saw her struggles and held her close, trying to calm her down, "Flurry, calm down! Don't you drown on mommy!!" Her mind screamed, her eyes widened with panic.
Shining stopped and swam over to her daughter, turning her to his front and signalled from his mouth to hers to open her mouth. Flurry hesitated at first, shaking her head, but after letting go of another breath she had no choice. She opened her mouth and felt her father breathe deep into her mouth, pulling away and closing her daughter's mouth. The young filly felt her lungs relax from the struggle, and was able to hold her breath again. With that trouble calmed, the three carried on, Shining taking her daughter's free hand as Cadence took her other.
Their swimming continued on for another minute or so, navigating the tunnels as they seemed to get lighter, much to their relief in the hopes they were getting closer to escaping their submerged fate. But as time still passed, it wasn't long before Flurry couldn't hold her father's air any longer and struggled again, clenching her mouth shut but air still flowed out, "NNNGBHKGBLBL!!"
This time, it was her mother that breathed into her lungs, making her hold back a coughing fit as she puffed her cheeks, her own air running dry. Shining was starting to feel the strain too, his cheeks flushing a light blue as he sped up his swimming, holding his daughter close as his wife kicked harder too, turning corners and swimming through the tunnels as hard as they could. They hoped that salvation would come soon, their long dive hopefully coming to a happy end.
But in time, the situation soon grew dire. Cadence was the first to start drowning, having given her air to Flurry. The young filly turned to her in a blind panic and shouted, "MOGBLMMYYBLBL!!"
Realizing her mistake as a convulsion nearly doubled her over, she kicked her legs again and started drowning in her father's arms, "AAAAGGHGBLBLKGBL!!"
Shining too felt his lungs start to strain and let out a cough of stale air, his cheeks glowing more blue than before, "Hrrggblbl!..."
The family were now on the verge of fading completely and drowning in the tunnels, and Shining only had enough air to last himself at this point, and even that was becoming even more of a problem. At this point, he would hope his family would last or they would drown trying.
