The whistle blew. "Alright team, good job today, everyone hit the showers and I'll see you all after class for practice tomorrow!"
Mekiko smiled as she floated on her back waiting for the others to climb out of the pool, out of the things she was pretty good at this was her favorite, it relaxed her.
"I'd let you float around all day, but no lifeguard, no swimming" Her coach smirked at her.
"Sorry Mr. T" The lion snorted, out of all the names his students had for him, that was his least fav, it reminded him of someone that pitied fools...
The little otter girl climbed out of the pool, she could already see some of her classmates leaving.
"Mekiko"
"Yes sir?" She turned and looked up at her coach.
"Mekiko, we have the match coming up on friday, and your the fastest we have in your class."
She smirked as her ego grew three sizes.
"But we need you to be even faster..."
She arched an eye at him, but he kept going before she could respond.
"I Want you here for extra practices, if thats all right with you... I can't mandate it, being a school function and all, But if your willing to push yourself we might just take first."
She thought about it for a moment, on one hand she had things she wanted to do... on the other hand it was only going to be for this week, she would get to be in the water even longer, and Mr. Taro was that teacher most girls had that student crush on...
She nodded
"Excellent!, we will meet here once everyone leaves after practice tomorrow!"
He slapped her on the butt.
"Now off to the showers!"

The Next Day
Mekiko was grinning ear to ear as she lay in the water floating on her back, she could hear the rest of her classmates leaving and coach hadn't even said anything about leaving the water.

A bit later she was back in the pool... Taro was a taskmaster, she was doing laps, and when she finished those, he was having her do them faster!
The little worn out otter lifted herself out of the pool and collapsed, tounge out... she was exhausted.
